Begs the question why we held on to him for so long then, the seasons pretty much over now aside from the CL

Assuming here but I think dropping below 10th triggered a clause in his contract because this is the first time we have dropped below 10th with Potter and this may also mean no big payday.

I don’t think Potter or anyone on the board thought we would not be this bad so Potter was happy to sign that contract and bet on himself to be in the fight for too 4 with better players.

He didn’t factor in how big a job this would be with the pressure it comes with.

I think those revelling in potters demise need to look at the bigger picture

I think Bohley out should be more appropriate - new owners are clueless, let’s hope they a quick learners

U forgot to mention 'real fans'... 🙄

As soon as he was peer-pressured into swearing you knew the jig was up. What an absolute mess from top to bottom, glad it’s all over and a penny for the thoughts of some of the people on here who genuinely thought they’d get a “told you so” moment in favour of Potter.

It'll cost you more than a penny

I'm open to offers 😛

Agreed. It was never revealed who advised Boehly to go for Potter at the time. Being that he wasn't a big name in international football I highly doubt Boehly would have taken that gamble without some 'expert' advice. I do remember several football people (including John Terry) were big proponents of the move at the time though.

Probably Simon bl00dy Jordan

Sacking Tuchel for Potter has to go down as one of the worst managerial decisions in football history.

In terms of decision making I put it in the same bracket as Hugh Grant leaving Liz Hurley in bed to get busted for getting noshed off by a fat ugly prostitute in downtown LA.

Love the guesswork !

Assuming everyone has seen the BBC article on the sacking?, they are gutted he’s gone 😅 “less than 7 months” to reiterate our impatience in the headline title, “despite previous record of success” when you scroll down I kid you not, surely they are just taking the piss at this point.

impartial bbc...🙄

It means that unlike the press would have you believe, the club wrote a severance term into the contract.

He had to. I started thinking so when I saw type of contracts offered to players.

Otherwise it's a careless and financially imprudent thing especially from a man that made his money primarily from investments.

This is interesting as it suggests he isn't getting his full contract payout. I'm not sure what 'regular severance' means but he has agreed to remain in place for the transition to a new manager. This is all very strange.

I wonder if it was a mutual agreement and he just wanted out?

No way you leave generational wealth on the table.

Have you seen the teeth on Liz ?

He left Badiashiel on the bench.

Seriously though I'm beginning to wonder.  He looked a broken man yesterday after the match and who knows how it played out. I agree if he got lawyers on it he'd clean up  but his reputation is that he's a 'nice' man. It would be a first, I'll give you that.

Nagelsmann's record

Hoffeinheim

2015-16: Took over when they were 7 points from safety with 14 games to go, managed to win 7 out of the 14 and they survived by a point in 15th. Decent season.

2016-17: Ended up finishing 4th, qualifying for the Champions League play off. Amazing season.

2017-18: Finished 3rd, though only 3 points higher than 2017. Knocked out of CL in the play off and finished bottom of Europa League group. Still good season.

2018-19: Finished 9th and bottom of CL group. Poor season.

RB Leipzig

2019-20: Finished 3rd, same as last season under Rangnick. Won CL group and reached semi final, knocked out by PSG. Great season.

2020-21: Finished 2nd, one point less than season before. Lost in German cup final. 2nd in CL group and knocked out last 16 by Liverpool. Good season.

Bayern Munich

2021-22: Won Bundesliga comfortably, scoring 97 goals. Destroyed CL group, but knocked out by Villareal in quarter finals. Decent season.

2022-23: Had dropped to 2nd in the Bundesliga, though scored 72 in 26 games. Destroyed CL group again. Fairly poor season.

Overall from the outside I'd say he's a pretty big upgrade on Potter, though hasn't overachieved significantly since leaving Hoffenheim. His teams tend to score a lot of goals even with a poor squad like Hoffenheim which is a good sign. Potter every season at Brighton had trouble scoring in comparison.

He also managed to get a 34 goal season out of Timo Werner which is saying something
