Moises Caicedo to Chelsea! "Official"

Featured Replies

Have been saying for months we should find other targets and move on, Brighton wanted way too much money.

So the end result of not getting him, don't care. Sick of hearing his name every day this summer for someone with 1 year in the PL and so little experience.

However, the board in charge of transfers have proven themselves pretty stupid here, chasing one target all summer, refusing to pay what was asked for, only to then offer it last minute and lose out anyway.

Why wouldn't he? Their squad is far more set than ours. We are still very much an unknown quantity.

Also the Guardian are reporting that another bid from us has not been ruled out.

He won't mind. In January he was desperate to go to Arsenal. Then all summer he was desperate to go to us. Now he's agreed terms with Liverpool. He's just a young player who's been thrust into the big-time very quickly, and will take any big club he can get.

Disasi is the most expensive transfer we've done this summer. €45m (not counting Nkunku)

I think that's fascinating. Yes we spent a lot last year, but clearly we've learnt a lot of lessons and our focus is on value which has to be the right approach.

It really won’t surprise me if we bid 120 million 😵‍💫

Bit of a shambles and all the more gutting to be done by those dirty scousers, when we have been Kings in the transfer market for so long.

Brighton clearly didn't want to sell to us and no doubt had the hump when they thought they could get Colwill. They think they are too big for rivalry with palace now and think we are their rivals. Hope we f**king hammer them when we play them this season and before that, hammer the dippers on Sunday.

Still think the price tag was way too high and knowing our luck he would have picked up a bad injury after a couple of weeks so f**k 'em. Let's move on.................

Haha. Excellent post if only to jolt our fans into sense and reality.

But you guys will settle to your true level and return to the pub league you came from sometime in the next decade or so.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Wee Billy has the potential and could be a world beater under the right conditions, it wasn't just at a massive club like Chelsea.

The mistake our massive club has made is having fools in charge who thought they'd buy a big club and take people from a small club to run us. That's what has led us to this mess but we are a big club and will navigate the turmoil and come out a big club.

The only time you hear Brighton and Chelsea mentioned in the same breath is regarding transfer market activity.

We are top echelon of football whilst Brighton are a good few rungs below.

Agree with almost everything you're saying.

Quite likely we'll return to the Championship in the next decade. Happens to most clubs and it is difficult for British clubs like Brighton to compete financially with clubs from the US, Saudi Arabia and so forth. However, it should be said that with Tony Bloom in charge, we have a decent chance of beating the odds. Money is important, but competence is not too bad either.

You're right Billy could be a class player under the right conditions and you are also right that Chelsea perhaps isn't the right environment, just like it wasn't for De Bruyne, Salah, Guehi and a bunch of other players. Chelsea is the kind of environment that makes young players think "ok, I'm really, really good and they're playing Ruben Loftus-Cheek instead of me", and that environment certainly isn't for everyone.

Agree with the mistake. Massive (or mainstream, as you might also call it) clubs can't just recruit a couple of guys from a smaller club and try to copy that success. Steve's Burger Joint may make the better burgers, but you can't have a McDonalds without Ronald. Just different ways of running things.

And I also agree that the few times you hear Brighton and Chelsea mentioned in the same breath is when it comes to transfers. No one is going to mention both clubs when talking about clubs playing in Europe next season. No one is going to mention both clubs when talking about getting value for money. No one is going to mention both clubs when it comes to comparing the quality of football, the quality of how the clubs are ran etc. You also have a lot more Twitter followers, which I'm sure is going to be a great comfort when Billy Gilmour nutmegs Tyler Adams to make it 0-3 at Stamford Bridge in December, during Frank Lampards first game in charge.

You are indeed the top echelon of football. Lots of Twitter followers, big name signings, tabloid headlines... A massive club. Just not very good at football.

In short, I agree with you.

But Liverpool put more money on the table? If we bid the 110m he would be on our way to us. There's no agenda, you pay the fee they want and you get the player.

We keep circling around Brighton for staff and players while at the same time slagging them off for getting above themselves !

I am surprised that this many people are unhappy that we don't get Caicedo.

He's not worth the fee quoted, but who is these days.

I liked his touch in tight spaces and work off the ball. He would have been a nice foil for Enzo but there are other options for less. I am always a fan of shopping at the big clubs. We've had success with Kovacic, Silva recently.

Why wouldn't he? Klopp has shown to be a successful manager, won the CL, League etc. The jury is still out on Poch, but Klopp is proven.

Somebody ban this troll.

Come back at us when you win a pot to piss in.

You and I both know you'll be relegated within ten years.

Imagine being this arrogant after a couple of years playing in the PL, having won nothing.

Okay. Enjoy the Europe status.

Nah, it's useless at this point to outbid Liverpool. Yes, he is a top class player in the making, but like in sports betting the value of the business is now completely gone.

At least now we have the upper hand on Southampton for Lavia if we indeed are interested in him. Liverpool is out of the equation and I can't see Arsenal doing any other major deals in this window.

Caicedo vs Lavia NOW - The difference is not night and day, they are both quality, young players. Slight advantage to Caicedo.

Caicedo vs Lavia LONG TERM - only time will tell who has a higher ceiling. They both seem to have a great future.
