Need a clearout badly. Our midfield stinks.

RLC, Jorginho, Kante, Koavic...its so stale and outdated.

When we get that sorted and get a decent striker (no laughing now) we might have a chance.

I have a crazy idea.

Stop buying wingers to play at wingback and instead buy a creative mid and allow the wingers to play as wingers.

While I'm at it, for a side which struggled to score letting Giroud and Lukaka go and buying Auba who is years past it as a replacement is dumb. Why are we always linked with more and more and more wingers. Get a creative mid, a Kante replacement and a striker. Until then go 4 in the back, play Mount in midfield and play the wingers as wingers.

Did anyone ask Potter how he plans to play before hiring him? Fire Tuchel for playing 3 in the back then hire Potter who plays 3 in the back. Would any of the other 19 PL managers say Sterling/Pulisic are wingbacks if they were asked. No! So much of this is self inflicted stupidity.

I hope he's not. Firing and hiring is what led us to the sh*tshow of a squad we have at the moment. If we actually built a team around Conte years ago we probably would have been challenging City and Liverpool during the last five years. I'm still on the fence about Potter but I'd rather stick with him then fire him for the next shiny manager.

Then he would have a young Lukaku to be your main striker 😀 with the style that suits him.

Ok just had a chance to watch the highlights. Busy day at work.

I am sure enough people have covered how stupid it was to start with who we did at wingback and have no Broja against a hard working side so I will leave that there.

Watching the highlights that first 5 minutes was a disaster class from Silva. Maybe he is just mentally and physically spent but before the goal he plays a soft pass that see one pass later them free in our box and Silva clears of the line.

He then gives the ball away, goes chasing it and leaves Trossard free who takes the chance really well.

Second goal RLC you plum. Watch the ball and clear it properly. The was inexcusable. He should not be anywhere near our first team.

After that Gallagher and CP both miss a sitter in the same move. Should be 2-1.

Trev has been doing well but that third goal is poor. In that position you MUST make a full contact and put it out for a corner. That effort was weak, a third present out of 3.

Havertz wastes a sitter after making it 3-1.

Last goal doubke mistake from Mendy. Parties a shot straight out to them instead of pushing it wide once, then does it again on the next shot. Poor keeping. Mistake 4.

We gave them all 4 goals, only Trossard had to work at all on the first goal the others were disgraceful.

This squad has too many bottlers, a Spursy mentality. We need players with mentalities like Kante, Ballack, Maka, Drogba.

Instead we sign weak mentality losers like Auba, Cucurella and Sterling (who was a winner because he was at City not because of himself) to add to losers we have like RLC.

You have to laugh really. Thrashed by a Leeds side on the verge of sacking their manager and a Brighton who could not win before they played us. Lmao.

Boehly is inspiring a culture of mediocrity.

That was down to Potter. Inept team selection (not for the first time). Only this time we were 3-0 down at half time and there was no time for Potter to fix his mistakes. He’s not as good as people say he is. That was as catastrophic a team performance as I’ve seen in a long time. It was like watching Kwasi Kwarteng in charge of the economy.

Up next:

Zagreb H

City A

Arsenal H

Newcastle A

That is one mega tough run. Struggling to see  how we win against City, Arsenal and Newcastle. Potter better get it together. He needs to Get through these games unscathed and wait for the WC to be over and have a full squad again.

Apart from Zagreb, and even that might be a push given that we have already qualified, I just don't any points against Arsenal or Newcastle and as City is a cup game they might play the kids and we might just get lucky; other than that don't hold your breath.

thanks - that's cheered me up a lot :laugh2:

I think the WC will be a massive disruptor and it will be interesting to see how some of the teams in the top 6 fair after it. It might be that some teams drop off their pace.

You mean us? Lol

Thought taking out Gallagher was poor. No surprise our attack went to sh*t after Gallagher was sent off.

Gallagher, Mount, and Havertz are just far too similar and shouldn’t be playing together.

Liverpool will be back to their best me think.

I doubt it. They are recycling after last season. Maybe they make a run in Europe at best.

Having watched the highlights, I think even our goal was a bit lucky. Great cross from Gallagher, but Havertz, in acres of space and time, could go left or right, but heads it straight at the keeper, albeit powerfully enough to get past him. Sanchez should never have been given any chance of saving that ...

That a stupid yank that knows nothing about football owns the club

Because we all know the owners of a club are what determines how well your manager & players perform. Yanks have won more than the owners of Man City could ever dream of if you want to make that argument.

Quite Ridiculous argument. There are no tactics, same thing we had under Tuchel!

Meanwhile Pep is screaming about how every player should run pass & shoot. The details matter & you can't underestimate any team,  even if you used to manage them.

Worth pointing out that, with Arsenal at home to Forrest tomorrow, we are most likely going to be going in to our high noon home game with them 10 points behind them, on equal games played.

The week after that we go to Newcastle while they host someone near the bottom of the table I believe.

It is entirely possible we could go in to the world cup break 16 points behind Arsenal, and I really don't see us clawing back such a difference.

The leeds game was bad, but this one took Embarrassing to a different level. Silva was spent before he even got on the field, should have never played the game, mistake after mistake and should have been taken off after 10 minutes. The rest of the team and Potter didn't want be there, everyone just froze off and forgot how to do basic things such as passing and marking. First half score was kind to us, got a goal after the break, then the team just stopped playing again, could not remember another meaningful save by their GK until the end. I get it players don't like a manager barking them all the time, but I find it quite disturbing we got little reactions for the manager after 3 goals down. The result has been coming, we were lucky against Villa, somehow managed 2 draws in the next 2 games despite being poor. The media has been talking up Potter and the team, and people and the fans bought that BS. The honeymoon period is welly and truly over, another 2 tough league games to come before the WC. I'd rank us as clear outsiders for both games, lose another game there and we will be fighting for Europa league after the WC.  The next CL group game is meant to be a rest day for most players, but I don't think we want play another sloppy game and lose that one, we will be having no forms or momentum going into the big London derby.

I can only say WTF!?

Where you there mate?

Have to be honest it is pretty funny stuff when you think about it. We sign their player of the season, who does all he can to first go to City then gets to move to us. We pinch their manager, coaching staff and are about to take their head of recruitment too apparently and they go and stuff us.

If it happened to someone else we would be laughing at them big time.

Maybe that's the contract Boehly signed up for, let them have the 3 points so their fans find consolation in losing their manager and one of their better ( or worse) player.

This last week just typified the Chelsea we have become in recent seasons. The dire display against Man Utd. The much more encouraging performance midweek  v Salzburg only to be followed by that totally woeful and inept performance yesterday. You hoped it wouldn't happen but in hindsight it was inevitable. Potter going back to Brighton. Brighton not having won a game since he left and struggling to score goals whilst Potter unbeaten at Chelsea. Should have seen it coming - it was always gonna be another West Brom, Bournemouth, Watford, Brentford, Leeds........and the list goes on................................!

Now watch Brighton lose their next 5, not score any goals and head towards relegation.

Yesterday just confirms that we have too many players who are good and can raise their games to the heights in certain games, but none of these players will ever be GREAT (would only exclude James and Silva in current squad and even he struggled yesterday = hardly surprising given the number of games he is having to play at 38!)

time RLC was gone he will never be a premier league player , all he can do is dribble once or twice then loses ball. its all he has ever done. SAME FOR PULISIC  not done enough to keep in team , get rid.
