I have watched that back, I don't know how it's not a red card. Azpilicueta didn't stoop low or anything, he's literally jumped for a header and the guy has smacked him with an overhead kick, that has to be dangerous play.

I didn't see the challenge, some others may not have either, so this is a tad unfair considering some may literally just be reading the forums for updates.

VAR and the refs need to give me one good reason why this isn't a red card

If it had happened to a pool or utd player then this guy would've been given a straight red and banned for an extra 5 games.

A high leg/boot to the face without touching it is already grounds for a red card. This is a literal kick to the face. 

In MMA, the ref would have stopped the match immediately. It is one of the most dangerous martial art technique and should be done with extra caution. If it was a yellow then the ref and VAR is incompetent. Azpi could go home a vegetable

Took an awful lot of time to get our captain towards a proper medical room. This should have been at least a yellow card as it was dangerous play.

Fingers crossed it's nothing more serious than a concussion.
