You'd also have to think the whole betting thing is a huge red flag on his character in general ...

Hehe.. we want goals not saints.

How many have we bought and then been awful!  Hope a lot of research is done on if they can play in the Premiership and can play in the system of the next manager.

since the Premiership alone we have had a lot strikers/ Centre Forwards, would probably only say 4-5 have returned good numbers.

I'd rather we invest in Broja and bring another person from the youth team. We keep spending on strikers and none of them work. I feel like a lot of these people are going to turn into Werners, Havertzs and Ziyechs

I would settle for a goal scoring striker with 15 goals per season, all against the top half of the table rather than 20 against the bottom half. Drogba is a great example, never prolific, but usually had the goal in him that made the difference in the big games, the six pointers.

Really tough. So few credible options

Kane and Jesus aren't joining us. Nor is Salah

Toney is a ridiculous gamble given the charges he is facing

Abraham isn't remotely good enough, and for me, nor is Broja

Lukaku is like the big fella in Live and Let Die

Vlahovic...another handful of goals a season striker

Osimhen has had 1.5 good seasons and is now going to command a transfer fee that might just about pay for the yachts the Govt seized from Roman

We probably have to accept that Lukaku is coming back and nobody is going to buy him. We may well need to find a way of getting him back in the goals.

Sensible and realistic take - I agree with all of that.

Any new manager would have to perform three miracles to slot Lukaku back in the team though,

  • Persuade Lukaku to return to the UK when he loves it in Italy
  • Get him to shed at least 10kg over the summer so we get the version we thought we were buying, namely the one that performed in beast mode under Conte
  • Get the fans back on side

That all looks like too tall an order to me !

I still think Goncalo Ramos is the best fit for the "young with potential" squad Boehly is trying to build. Added bonus of experience playing with Fernandez as well. Benfica would no doubt fleece as again though ...

Goncalo Ramos "Style of play", taken from his Wikipedia entry

Nicknamed "O Feiticeiro" ("The Wizard") and "O Pistoleiro" ("The Gunman"), Ramos is known for his versatility, being capable of playing in several offensive positions, such as a striker, or second striker. Ramos usually drops deep, to help his team build their attacking play by bring his teammates into play, and create chances for other players. Due to his awareness and willingness to follow instructions, he understands how to rotate positions in ways in which to benefit the ball-holder with his movement, short or long passes. When he is offering short, he aims to be positive in his control of the ball, he attempts to open his body up each time, with either foot, being able to hold up the ball and act as his team focal point in attack.

During his second season at Benfica, under Roger Schmidt, Ramos has been deployed as a striker in a 4–2–3–1 formation. His ability to attack space and create further space both inside and outside the penalty area with his movement is what made the move to the centre a more natural progression. Ramos is good at picking up positions between the opposition's defenders and then exploiting space behind the defensive line. He presses with intent and is not afraid to put himself about against the opposition. Ramos usually links up with the midfield and makes proactive movements which always can put a striker in a goal-scoring position more often rather than standing around and waiting for the service, similar to Karim Benzema.

Akpom Middlesbrough - 26 goals this season so far

27 now in 35 games ……and 27 years old, someone will snap him up even if Middlesbrough are promoted in my humble little opinion 😊

A mate of mine went to school with Chuba Akpom. He claims he sat next to him in Chemistry class. Nice chap apparently.

We actually had the chance to buy Gabriel Jesus in the summer. We had Lukaku, then he goes on loan. I have no idea who we get at this point.

Haaland scored more PL goals than our whole team this season.

He got more goals in 12 minutes today than we've managed as a team in 450+ minutes 🙂

You can only laugh at this stage.

Mudryk is our joint leading assister alongside Chilwell and Enzo.

Barely been here and barely played and hasn't even been played well since being here.

Goes to show how poor we've been, I couldn't even tell you who our top scorer is, probably Havertz with 4 goals.

Jorginho still our 3rd highest goal scorer
