Not convinced with this fella. When is Badiashile likely to be available?

He wasn't even on the bench today so I am guessing we won't see him until September at least.

Just another player that can't think quickly, there should be a test for this. there is nothing you can do to improve a player if the are too slow thinking.

We've signed this guy for £35m(?) and are about to sell Trev for £20m. This right here is a prime example of poor recruitment. Well done for spending the big bucks on the likes of Enzo etc. but the squad roles absolutely need to be filled out by Cobham lads. More often than not they're better than these random imports.

Would have been informative to see if Pochettino would have played Chalobah ahead of Disasi, had he been fit,

But with Fofana, Badiashile and Chalobah all in the treatment room, Disasi was literally the only fit centre back option to play ahead alongside Silva and Colwill.

Hopefully when the new DMs get up to speed we won't need 3 CBs at the back anyway.

If you only have 3 CB's fit surely the most logical thing to do would be to play a flat back 4 with 2 CB's on the pitch (Silva + Colwill like pre season) and have Disasi on the bench in case of an injury. I can only hope once Caicedo and Lavia are fit enough we won't have to see 3 CB's again.

Yes that was the better option for me. Gives us that extra attacker as well.

West Ham were always going to sit back with men behind the ball yesterday so we really shouldn't have needed the extra defender.

Think the 3 CB is making things just more confusing.

Antonio's goals started with Silva completely stepping out of position and not even committing to the challenge.

Think that is only part fo the story though as it was combined with a misplaced pass by Disasi and a return straight into Antonio, past Silve and right on top of Colwill.

Yes but this needing experience on the pitch argument is moot if our most experienced player is making the most basic of errors. We don't have to play Silva and we don't have to play a back 5 because of Silva, especially now when we have Lavia, Caicedo, and Ugochukwu to use in midfield.

Let's get back to building on to what we saw in preseason vs these quick fixes.

I wonder and someone mentioned it in the matchday thread that maybe the back 3 formation was to protect Silva because he doesn’t have the legs to play in back 4. Last season he looked out of sorts every time we played a back 4. With a back 3 he provides leadership, and good communication since he speaks English & French.
Question though would be why didn’t we go for Guehi instead of Disasi (who I don’t rate) as the former would have covered the leadership & communication base?

It was me as I noticed Disasi and Silva were very close together whereas Colwill was much wider.

Disasi is a good player (He and Badiashile formed one of the best CB partnerships in France). If Poch is making the decision to make James/Chilwell captain over Silva for long term purposes, then he needs to drop Silva by that logic too.

Not that keen on Disasi myself but give him a chance first, the fella has only had two games.

Agree, give the lad a chance. No one really stood out and a lot of mistakes happened for that goal - it was typical Chelsea as you could see it coming 5 seconds before.

Until we score more goals the defense will always come up short as they aren’t perfect.

The lad looks like an athlete. A big beast of a unit....

...The problem is, that he doesn't scream out as having a football IQ, and that he suffers from bad decision making.

A slightly worse version of someone like kurt zouma would be my initial, and probably unjustified, assessment.

Exactly what I said in an early post.. I doesn't matter what you do in training or how fit you are.. If your footballing brain is too slow, nothing is ever going to change that. We have a had a few players like that in the past, pointless

Doesn't change the fact we had Chalobah who is better and free.
