January 10, 20242 yr See him play at Luton for the 23s a couple of weeks ago believe me this lad is far from ready.

I actually have no idea why we signed the lad anyway as we failed to then loan him out and left him stranded here. Seeing how the clowns we have in charge have acted so far, it wouldn't suprise me if they saw the name Washington and thought he has to end up brilliant. Added to Jackson, just need Maddison and then resigning Kennedy next. Trawling through the Brazilian third division desparately looking for a Patton or Lincoln.

Thank they wanted him to go to Strasbourg, along with Santos, but Ziyech and Lukaku pinched those spots. At this point starting him is better than nothing.

If we signed him for around £5m or so then yeah but to spend just under £20m on an unproven youngster who we are hesitant to give any minutes is bizarre. Didn't understand it at the time and even more don't understand now. It is clear Poch doesn't think he is ready as there have been times we are looking for the goal and he hasn't even been brought on. Looks probably a bit too lightweight and out his depth. Desperately needs a loan and someone in the board needs to have a Q & A forum so fans can understand the logic behind this.
February 2, 20242 yr Thread deserves a little bump considering we may be seeing a little more of Washington now considering he is our only other number 9 apart from Jackson. Short cameo against Wolves perhaps. Edited February 2, 20242 yr by Erik

He talks about meritocracy, but I don’t believe him. Sterling will continue to get picked despite running into players again and again.

The other baffling thing about Poch is that he seems determined not to give a run of games to some players. Just when Madueke and Mudryk look like they might be getting some form he benches them. These young players need consistent minutes.

February 28, 20242 yr Author Scored a good goal for the under 21s, wonder if we'll put him back on our bench with Nkunku out for a few weeks.

Why bother when you can stick Sanchez & Bettinelli on the bench. Poch said the young players have to earn it, he needs to be scoring hat tricks regularly.
February 28, 20242 yr It's a well taken goal for sure ... but he's on 2 goals in 346 minutes in Premier League 2 now, so I don't think we need to get too carried away just yet ... I would definitely try and have cover for all positions on the bench though. Don't agree with the multiple bench keepers idea, but I suppose it reinforces the message to the owners that we desperately need a decent striker (or two) !
February 28, 20242 yr Think it's mental for Poch to have 2 GKs on the bench instead of a young striker, likely a dig to the owners for not backing him in the winter. How much we paid for this lad again? Except a bit more even he's signed purely on future growth
February 28, 20242 yr It's ridiculous to have two keepers on the bench. If you're a young kid with potential there are only three reason to choose Chelsea 1. Cash 2. Long contract 3 Short walk to the Tube It's hard to think of another top flight club with less confidence on their academy players than us.

Don't get the two keepers on the bench thing at all, I swear we've been doing it for years now.

If we are going to give an academy striker a chance, then Ronnie Stutter would seem to be more logical choice. 9 goals from last 11 games I think.
March 1, 20242 yr Is there any positives at all to this transfer? - 20M transfer to play PL2, which is weaker than regular minutes in Brazil's top tier. - Weakened Santos to the point of relegation. Not saying he saves them but he'd certainly have helped. - Weakened our position even further with FFP.
