I honestly do not care who the manager is as long as they do not do silly things like playing Gusto as a attacking midfielder.

The bar is really low for me, I am not asking for an elite manager. I just want simple football with players in their right roles. This team would suit a counter attacking manager so that would also be a bonus too.

Don't the Owners and SDs insist on this possession football model though ? It's them that decides stuff on how to play, etc, so that they aren't dependent on any given manager, and in theory the club is less affected by attrition/recruitment of the coach.

Rosenior will suit Stewart and Winstanley.

I think it's highly likely.

He hasn't uttered a word re the comings and goings at Strasbourg and there have been many. Probably has a clause in his contract re relocating to another group club. He will be a dream ticket for our two moronic SDs.

Is it done yet?🙁

Excellent job at Strasbourg 🤣

7th in a mickey mouse league with a team full of 'Generational talent' hand me downs.

1st in the Conference League though.

I don't know anything about him other than he's tactically similar to Graham Potter and has Penders playing like Neuer minus the two decades of experience.

Just screams another inexperience manager and if he's appointed I'm going to just check out.

I saw an interview from Glasner saying everything I like to hear a coach say. He will set up a team and formation that best suits the players he has. It's been so long since we had a coach like that managing the club. I'm not saying we should go get Glasner (although, I wouldn't object to it) but I want a manager that is sensible and isn't trying crazy sh*t like, as you say, put Gusto in midfield.

Been waiting for this moment. From the statement it looks like he’d finally lost the dressing room. Way too many head scratching decisions and the football was terrible to watch and play.

Do things need to change upstairs with recruitment ….. absolutely. Do I think a better coach gets a better tune out of the current squad… without doubt.

Will we get a better coach….. who f**king knows.

While Maresca leaving is a step in the right direction this is only putting a plaster over a gun wound IMO.

My guess is they made a settlement with a NDA to stop Maresca blabbing about what goes on behind the scenes and how much influence the board have on footballing matters.

The football was dire and I truly believe a better manager would have us near where Villa are points-wise currently.

Unfortnately I feel a lot of things is going to stay the same, buying young players within a wage structure, using data to decide how many minutes a injury prone player should play and buying players who are not good enough to take us to the next level.

We need better than a Maresca but we also need better than the current board.

Let's hope the football gets better with the next appointment.

I'm not getting too excited until the board and the SD's change thier strategies.

Anyhow, the bottom line is Maresca should have done better with this squad especially when you think of all the times we took the lead and then ended up losing.

There is things wrong with this club that Maresca can't be blamed for but there is a lot wrong with the team that was his fault.

I'm not sure I know how to check out mentally when it comes to Chelsea, but signing Rosenior will be the biggest test yet.

I also remember his punditry on the Championship just after he got his badges. Massively up his own arse. The most expected and uninspiring appointment waiting to happen.

Ben Jacob’s latest:

More on Enzo Maresca's Chelsea departure. Club and Jorge Mendes were working on an exit package from last night. Chelsea board unanimous a change was needed.

Understand one of the main issues was between Maresca and Chelsea's medical department. Chelsea insistent that decisions over player workload and welfare must be autonomous from the manager.

From Maresca's perspective, he felt a lack of protection and interference leading to critical issues with ownership.

As revealed, Maresca wasn’t sick after Bournemouth. He didn’t want to speak as he assessed future.

Also understand Manchester City and Maresca have also held some talks already. This came as a surprise to many within the Chelsea hierarchy, with some feeling the Italian was distracted.

Chelsea leadership also concerned by 20 dropped points from leading positions in the EPL and UCL leading to fears of a lack of mental fortitude.

Chelsea have no plans to change their model. Less than a handful of names in contention to replace Maresca, including Liam Rosenior.🔵

Of course he would be. Any sane person would.

Let's look at last January for example. Both ourselves and City were struggling in January. Both of us needed a ST and CM desperately.

  • What did City do? Sign Marmoush and Gonzalez.

  • What did we do? Flirt with Garnacho for 31 days and sign that Amougou fella who isn't even playing at Strasbourg.

Oohh, what's Ranieri been doing after his 27th sacking?
