He is definitely saying 'f**king hell you sh*t c**t even i could have scored that!' Or maybe 'I took a penalty in the champions league final to get you here and then you f**king miss one on one!'

I know that's just a snapshot without context, but a picture is worth a thousand words, etc.  They do look genuinely frustrated with Torres in the picture, even Marin in the background is almost looking on as if to say "Oh fu**!"

and then Ivan is so mad even his hair is trying to get away from him

Marin is thinking, "I can't get games but this mug is nailed on?".

Ash: "Girly boy, I'd shut the f**k up and get on before you really piss someone off."

Nando: "You don't understand how difficult that shot actually was..."

Frank's thoughts: "What is this twat talking about?!?! I'm ready to bruise his 'pretty' little face. Ok, I need to set a good example... I need to set a good example... I need to set a good example... Whew, this is tough."

Ivan: Scouting for a ref in case a brawl starts. (To be fair, it's only a three hit brawl. Frank hits Nando. Nando hits the ground. And the medical crew hit the ground laughing.)

Marin's thoughts: "Give me a chance coach! Just give me a chance!!"

Maybe Cole was telling him that he needs to show more passion for the club.

Look at Torres' body language though. He is guarding himself. Arms crossed. He isn't comfortable what ever is being said.

Have we really sunk this low ???

Have we really sunk this low ???

For everything that's been on and off about Torres my little poke at the picture, in good or bad taste, is just to humorously depict some real anger and frustration that can be clearly seen.

The picture shows me that even the players are feeling the pressure.

Maybe Cole was telling him that he needs to show more passion for the club.

Frank also has his arms crossed and is looking quite stressed to me. Torres looks the calmest out of the three.

To be honest, I have no idea where this picture has come from or why it's interesting enough to generate a couple of pages of discussion.

These modern day players get paid astronomical amounts of money (for little return in many cases) why cant we piss take ? They are not Gods, nor saints.

Sure in years gone by players deserved more respect, they didn't try cheating every five minutes, they didn't intimidate the officials at every whistle blow, they got a basic wage for doing a job they loved.

Maybe Cole was telling him that he needs to show more passion for the club.

Frank is doing the same thing to be fair.

The whole team were sh*t at the weekend not just Torres.

One player in and one out isnt going to magically make things better, there is a sever attitude problem in this squad and the easy thing is to put it all on one thing which of course is ridiculous but done on here none the less.

Some people on here think they are a lot funnier than they actually are.. This seems almost to have turned into a 'let's blame torres if we lose' thread, almost everyone was poor in the club world cup final. He's a Chelsea player let's just accept that until he leaves. I think Winston Bogarde got an easier time!

Come off it. Torres hasnt ever been good for us and thats the problem. We have had our hopes built up so many times now, you cant blame people for giving up. Its clear for everyone to see that the guy is finished and his heart just isnt with us. People talk about Sheva being a flop but at least he always tried you could see that he wanted to do his best. He never gave an interview saying that he had stopped caring if the team won or lost.

Also who are you to tell people how to support their team? No one has that right. Everyone on here wnats the best for the team and some of those people think what is best is for Torres to leave asap.

One player constantly under performing does cause defeats in many cases, especially if it's either the striker or the goal keeper.  If it's the goal keeper that's crap the defence play completely differently, are desperate any time the oposition approach the area and generally look worse players for it.

If it's the striker and as a midfielder you regularly either can't find your main striker because he's gone missing or you get the ball to him in good positions only for him to miss, you change the way you play so that you don't have to use that striker.  So many times Hazard and the like look as though they're going to play an early pass to Torres only to then put their foot on the ball and check back - they don't trust him and to me that's the biggest impact Torres has had on our team.  I'd be amazed if some of the players are not seriously pissed off with the fact that he plays every week.

Funny how all the people calling for us to support Torres have disappeared under their rocks again

As long as he wears the shirt, we should all support him. It's fine to be critical of his performances (he's sh*t) but willing him to fail, booing him or hoping that something bad happens to him (physically hurt etc.) is just wrong.

You make a good point. It's now reached the stage where even the slightest suggestion that we should continue to support Torres while he's wearing a Chelsea shirt, or even criticism of the level of hatred directed towards Torres, has to be accompanied by the disclaimer that: "I've never been Torres greatest fan but... " to avoid the risk of being written off as "Fangirly".

So I'd better say again, that I am not and never have been Torres greatest fan. He was crap in Japan but he wasn't alone in that by any means. I'm not defending Torres. There have been far too many misses similar to the sitter he missed on Sunday. The problem with Torres is he isn't being judged on a game by game basis. If he ever has a good game, it's outweighed by previous poor performances. If he has another stinker, the level of hatred and abuse goes up another few notches.

There is and never has been any sense of proportion with regard to Fernando Torres. What with the size of the fee, the sudden shift from adoration to hatred among Liverpool fans, widely reflected in media coverage, massive doubts among Chelsea fans as to the wisdom of signing the player, it was always going to be a bit of a circus.

But he is still a Chelsea player. Massively over-priced, hugely disappointing, but he's still a Chelsea player. And as such, I for one am not going to go along with the circus. Even if I do think it would be best for all concerned if he were moved on a.s.a.p.

A picture tells a million words.

One good side to this is Nancy boy will be gone come January.

Now don't get me wrong, I thought we played SH1T but it just seems if it gets tough 9.9/10 times nancy boy goes hiding. If I was into conspiracies I would almost suggest nancy boy is missing these opportunities on purpose. I mean do we practice knocking the ball back to cech rather then past cech in practice, surely missing the keeper should be instinctive by now but its almost like its instinctive to pass it to the keeper. I just don't f**king get it. Some of these opportunities we are getting would be put away by most pub teams. Cahill was a little unlucky but at the same time hit it in the keepers direction and there is always that chance.

Never been impressed with Torres here, thought he was superb a few years back and hoped he could rediscover that form but since hes been here hes always looked a bit too sullen and not like a player who needs the big stage to get back to anything like his best.

He'll have good games for us as he has on occasion but I'd imagine he'll have a lot more mediocre ones which costs us points and I think any decent striker over the period hes been with us would have got a better return.

I support him and am always happy if he has a good game or input but reserve the right to take the piss as much as I like without anybody on here having a say in how I support the team.

Im sure they are.

When the whole team was scoring for fun earlier in the season his form wasnt so much an issue. But things have changed now we are not set up to cut teams apart anymore, because of interim and because of the recent confusion that has inevitably destroyed confidence.

This was always my concern. That when we were involved in matches that could be decided on 1 or 2 chances these chances would inevtiably fall to Torres and this would end up costing us points (even worse on Sunday it cost us a trophy)

I honestly think in the recent history of our club we have never needed a player more urgently than we need a new centre forward. Because if this continues its just going to cost us more points and derail our season even further.

I have to agree with you there, some of the recent posts in this thread are embarrassing. I don't know what I was expecting from the "Torres groundhog day thread" though.

As pointed out in Tommy's earlier post, I feel the need to state that I'm not a fan of Torres personally and would like to see him replaced at the earliest possible opportunity.

When a team is failing to score goals, especially when their 50 million pound striker, who picks up £175 grand a week, cannot score when one one, who do you expect people to blame? Shall we all blame luiz because the media likes to criticise his flamboyant defending? Maybe John obi mikel because he only passes it sideways and doesn't contribute to attacks? You cannot blame the fans for picking on Torres he paints the target on his back
