Potter played him since he's the captain, but at this point he's making too many errors, it was his man that scored after all and in the previous match he was conceding corners and looked shaky as well.

I get it, he's a great person and one of our iconic players but when you have Fofana and Koulibaly available I can't see him getting a start over the other two if he wasn't our captain.

How he started the other night just beggars belief

He has a 2 yr contract though, I don’t think we can register an extra defender without getting rid of a player. This is on Boehly & Tuchel.

Should have allowed him to go to Barcelona. Our club is really bad at knowing when to let go of players when they are past their prime. Us planning on offering new deals to an injury prone Kante for example is concerning.

These summer transfers and contract extensions have seriously stalled the long term vision we have for this club.

But we don't and that's the point. Good teams are able to bring good players into the squad when good players get injured. We only have sh*t back up players and so when our good players get injured we become sh*t. That's the difference between us and City.

Azpi was bad. We probably should have played Chalobah instead of Azpi. This will help us defensively but it won't help us in term of keeping the ball. 

He's passed it at right back and we all knew it, with James out it's either 3 at the back with Sterling playing WB, or Azpi playing at RB in a back 4. At least you get committment and experience from Azpi, on the left side that Cucurella was a complete disaster, couldn't defend or attack, and how much we have paid for him again?🤥

Azpi should never play at full back for us again unless it's a cup game against someone like Chorley. He's a complete liability and I think he has now officially entered the last year of Ivanovic's tenure at Chelsea.

I admire his leadership and heart.  But as everyone above has noted, the time has come (actually came 2+ years ago for me when he stopped defending the ball and only played the man).  His side is always exposed, and unfortunately on the ball he only knows how to pass back or sideways.

Agree. He's been fantastic for us for a decade, but the problem for him now is that he can't offer what James does, even though he remains an excellent defender.

Pay homage to the mans effort's and achievements. We've been spoiled rotten with the last two captains for 20 years. both distinguished champions. Azpulicuator can hang around for as long as he likes at CFC. He's earned that right.
