I'd have thought Jules Kounde is the intended Azpi replacement, seeing as he is right sided centre back, and can also play right back or right wing back ... ?

But that makes me think that maybe he still needs another one, perhaps Gvardiol.  If James is injured or tired I think we'd still need 3 CBs as well as Kounde covering RWB. Plus we must manage Silvas minutes

Koulibaly can play on both sides RCB and LCB so in case Koundé plays for James and Silva gets rested I guess we'd see:

Me too. But that would mean 2/5 certain starters are out - wouldn't have been much better last season in that case as well. And who knows what still happens with Azpi likely leaving and Alonso eventually too.

I can only tip my hat towards one of the best players ever for the club. Tremendous. If he does go, Its been a ride Dave!

Reports about that the club have recieved assurances from both Sevilla and Jules Kounde that he will soon be on his way to London to have his medical and sign his 5 year contract. Chelsea and Sevilla in full agreement and contracts have been exchanged waiting for signatures.

Why am I posting this in Dave's thread? Apparently he has been given permission to complete his transfer to Barca for a nominal fee, as soon as Kounde is officially done.

Be better if we made them agree terms with Dave & Alonso then just cancelled the whole thing last minute once Kounde is done and told them to go f**k themselves. It’s not like they actually have the money to pay for our players after all, we’d be doing them a favour.

I thought that about de Jong. Drag it out promising the deal so they couldn't do anything until the money come in. Deag it out for as long as possible and then bomb it off. Although I wouldn't mind him actually

I will start by saying I don't believe Dave would do this to us. However there are reports he is unhappy with both TT and the club. He did not want the addition year of his contract activate, and has been left very impressed with Xavi, Barcas offer and project. His family also want the move and apparently he will do a Lewa and publicly make his position clear he want Barca and wants to leave us.

As I said I don't see Dave doing this.

It would be nasty but we'd have to publically tell our captain to f**k off and honor the terms of a contract he agreed to sign.

He's not going to Barca for a cut price.

I don’t see Azpi doing that, to be honest. But, if he did so, I’d tell him “accept to go to Athletic Bilbao on a free or get on with your work to honour the contract you signed. Oh, and by the way, you have to say publicly that Barcelona is a sh*thole with a sh*t, cheating team.”

I don’t think he’s going anywhere this year. transfer plans aren’t panning out and we need the depth and experience Dave brings. One more year please!

Why not. If he wants to leave I can easily see him making it known especially as we have said he can go once we have a replacement. 

By the same token its not the clubs fault that the replacement is fking us about.

If Barcelona sign Kounde what will they want with Azpilecueta anyway

If we’re being honest with ourselves, he’s just going to tarnish his legacy if he stays another season, 10 years at the club exactly now and he’s won it all.

 

…..We’re an injury away from him being a regular first team player and if we’re going to compete this season that’s a nightmare scenario.

He can't tarnish his legacy, he's contributed too many good things to the club. He can be absolute dogsh*t all season and I will still remember the good times over the bad when he leaves. When I think of Ivanovic, I don't think about his last season with us, I think about his best moments, like his Europa League final winning goal. I don't tend to think much on a players bad moments unless that player was really bad, like Lukaku.
