I wholeheartedly agree! Great player. Don't forget that he was great under Conte too as RCB!

Adjusted for inflation, I think he's the best value for money signing we've had in the Premier League era hands-down. Off the top of my head the only one that might come close is Desailly for £4.6m but that was at a time when the British transfer record was Alan Shearer for £15m. In comparison, we paid £6.8m for Azpilicueta in a post-Bale world where the British transfer record was £85m.

At his peak, he was the best 1v1 defender I have ever seen, which given he competed for spots with Branislav Ivanovic and Ashley Cole says a lot.

    Got me thinking on how he compared to Ivanovich.

    Ivanovich cost £9m 

    Ivanovich total games 352 and 34 goals

    Apzi total games 467 and 17 goals.

    I think it is hard to tell who is better value both have a good shout.

    Both fantastic signings and superb servants. Would pick peak Ivan ahead of peak Azpi.

    Same, but it really is up to preference. Ivanovic circa 2009-2015 was such a game changer. So many big moments. 

    Azpilicueta arguably the most consistent defender we've ever had at his peak.

    I’m sure we’re going to sign Oana from Inter this window. We’ve given them Azpi, they want Lukaku, we want Oana and they’ve just let Dzeko go. It all looks setup for a mega swap deal.

    Swap Lukaku for Onana is far too reasonable for that lot. Despite Onana being a free transfer for them they want 70mill for him and then to loan Lukaku.

    I always thought that he was heading to Barcelona, but I’m glad that he is not. And always had the dream that he’d go to Athletic Club Bilbao once he left Chelsea, but I guess that Athletic is not that big a club anymore in Spain (though still a classic club that has never gone down to the second division).

    Easy to forget what azpi was at his best considering hes overstayed his welcome by a few years.

    He was both simultaneously top 3 RB and top 3 LB in the league at one point! One of our best ever signings, however his time is up at this point and I think he knows that himself
