I don't know if any you have picked this up but it appears that in La Liga there is a 3 year restriction as to how long a player can remain on a loan

Quite simply the possibility of Courtois staying at AM for another year doesn't exist

i think the boy needs to keep his mouth shut. can't see Jose appreciating him putting a deadline on his future with the club, and as far as i can see, he has no say in his future with/without us until 2015 due to his contract. in other words, if he wants to leave, then tough. we can hold onto him if we want to, and i dont see what he is gaining with these comments. seems to be he i being very poorly managed, with his agents trying to hoick him out to the top clubs quite publicly, which is unlikely to end well

tbh all of our belgians seem to be the same. 

 

hazard seems the most down to earth and i can see him doing a robben in a few years and agitating for a move to spain (although touch wood that doesn't happen). quite a few trouble making agents looking after the stars from that nation it seems (possibly the same company? i don't know).

He does have some power though because come end of the season we either sell with two years to run, or extend it further which I don't see him agreeing to if he is sent out on loan again (read somewhere according to Spanish rules, this can be his loan deal to Athletico). Can't see us sitting him on the bench next season, & letting him run down his contract to be honest.

I don't think Cech has been the same keeper since his head injury. That's not to say he's been poor, he's still been head and shoulders above most in Europe but the levels we seen before that game have never been reached again, not consistently.

Courtois is a keeper we cannot afford to lose, he is going to become one of THE best keepers in the world and Barcelona have already been rumoured to be circling like the proverbial vultures.

I'd bring Courtois back from Spain, loan him to a Premier League club next season and then move Cech to the older back up role come season 2015/16. For next season the team of Cech and Schwartzer (if retained) is the way to go.

It's a good thing we have a manager who has been managing in Spain and has watched Courtois play closely. From what I gather Jose intends to use him (said the same about KDB to be fair), just not sure when. 

What are their comparative stats regarding penalty saves?

These stats are like comparing apples to oranges…different league, different teams, different styles of play.  It would be more comparable if they played in the same league against the same teams.

Well the fact that he is normally better than Cortouis is a side note to pointing out his 'decline' in general when he his seasonal stats hardly change, and in most cases improve.

 

Also Cech plays in the more competitive league.

And the Daily Mail reports that Thibaut Courtois will tell Mourinho he does not want to return to Chelsea unless he is the Blues’ first-choice keeper.

Thats a good way to look at it. Those who think we will keep both long term are kidding themselves.

Easy...Cech

 

I know courtois is one of the best young keepers in the world but Cech is a Chelsea all time great and easily has another 5 years left in him. People talking about him declining don't have a clue. Every keeper makes mistakes and tbh Cech very rarely does

The more I think about this the more I think is that we should cash in on the value of Courtois and use the money to help with the inevitable re build that Jose is set to embark on.

Lets face it GK is one of the perhaps 2 or 3 positions we don't need improving if we are to be CL & PL challengers over the next few years

Its okay to say keep Cech and send Courtois out on loan again, but this problem will arise again next season and the seasons after that.  Theres never going to be an ideal time to do this but we don't want to lose a brilliant young goalkeeper just to prolong Cech's career by a few years and be left with no goalkeeper when he retires.   At what point in the future is the right time to give Courtois the chance to be No.1?  Might as well do it now rather than later.  I think Courtois is already at the point where he wants his future sorted and he's not going to keep going on loan for 5 years.  I think next season is the right time to get Courtois involved, a straight fight with Cech for the No.1 shirt can't say fairer than that.

I cannot see anything other than Courtois being sold to be honest. Personally I'd sell Cech and keep Courtois because in Courtois we have a keeper who can be the best in the world for the next fifteen years, Cech is 32 this year and with his head injury I doubt he'll carry on as late as the likes of Van Der Sar.

Whichever way we go we're hardly losing out but I'd love to see Courtois as no.1 next season
