If Eden turns up next year then that makes Conte's job so much easier.

I am little concerned about how Hazard will do under Conte. Hazard isn't exactly the hardest worker.

That said, I do believe that Jose picked on Hazard and really annoyed him for lacking ambition and not taking that next step.

Hazard is going to shine next season. Those few glimpses we had at the end of the season of his unplayable form gives me plenty of reason for hope. Conte must have seen his last two goals for us (spuds dippers) and by now has already been thinking about next season and how to get Eden playing that kind of football every game. Nobody in the league can touch him when he shines.

While I think hazard was not as dominant as previous winners when it comes to Poty, he's no doubt a deserved winner among his peers last season..

 

if you want to belittle hazard, I think that barry bridge fella will keep you entertain, you're going to have a field day and maybe drink beer and play beerpong..

I wouldn't entertain it. When Mourinho said Hazard was top three nobody could disagree because he was lighting up the premier league week in week out for that whole season. Even the season before when we were the 'little horse' he was top class. So how someone can say prior to this train wreck of a season Hazard wasn't the best player in the league is beyond me. Hazard's contribution was an integral part of us winning the league. I agree we were far from a one man team, but for anyone to suggest Hazard was not one of the most important cogs in that team baffles me. Sanchez is a class player but his contribution wasn't enough to push them for the title, the counter argument to that will be he plays in a poor team. But that poor team is offensively minded so he should in theory thrive unlike Hazard who was a player in a 'careful' team for want of a better term. Suarez played in a poor team too who were mediocre defensively, but his contributions put his team up there challenging for the title. And for the sake of a few poor defensive showings I.e Crystal palace he would have won them the league pretty much single handedly. Although the contribution of Sturridge cannot be undervalued.

I haven't belittled Hazard with my criticism of him this season because their is nothing to belittle.  He has done little to nothing of importance this season.  Blame me or call me a Hazard hater if it makes you feel better, but it still doesn't change how useless Hazard has been this past season.  No, don't care about his brightness at the end with  paltry (both in fewness and triviality) games left when there was absolutely nothing left to play for from a CFC perspective.

 

 

As for last season, again I have not belittled Hazard.  I'm just not belittling the rest of the teams contribution to winning the title last season.

 

 I've actually tossed Hazard a lot of praise, the most naturally talented player in the league.....but many a top talent has been wasted or under-utilized by a poor work ethic/mentality.  And if he can take the huge amounts of praise when his play merits it, then same with the criticism.  Show me where Ive been unduly harsh.

 

 

I find these rumours of all our players following Mourinho a bit far-fetched. Firstly, it's obvious to me that even if there were no uprising, mutiny, revolt or anything of the sort, the relationship between Jose and the players had become strained to an extent. If I were a player and my manager had fired the club doctor that had been treating me for years and I had a good relationship with over something as stupid and petty as he did, I'd definitely lose respect for him. Between that and his treatment of some players like Mata, KDB and RLC, the players have seen his bad/petulant side and I can't imagine them queueing up to work with him again.

 

Think if anyone goes it'll be Willian. Mou had faith in him and played him over Mata who is clearly a superior footballer and I'm sure that has resulted in some loyalty. I like Willian but he's a lot more dispensable than Hazard.

 

Ya, but I doubt all the players turned on Mourinho.  A few and some important ones to be sure, but some important ones didn't.  Group dynamics.

 

Atleast two sides to almost every tale and while what you say may be the recollection of some Chelsea players, for others it might be how quickly Mourinho turned a team who didnt come close for seasons, and with a fading core, into challengers and then into champions.

 

Some players like winning and will do whatever it take they can to do so. I can understand why that's been forgotten by many CFC fans this season.

Did anyone else see that Hazard was third in the PL with 66 chances created from open play? Only behind Özil and Erickson. Not sure if this was mentioned already but I thought it was interesting given his mediocre campaign.

I don't think there is that many that thinks Hazard was the only reason we won the title. I give much more credit to fellow posters here. However he was the main reason. All of those accolades he got tells you that. They didn't go to Matic or JT, they went to Eden. And rightly so.

He had a terrible season and that is also why we finished 10th. Well, one of the main reasons anyway. I think he is that important.

He is our Diamond in the crown, to be cherished, nurtured, and ultimately desired.
