If Eden wants to achieve greatness, get to Barca for Messis swansong years, they would be an absolute nightmare to play against, but a transititional and frankly sh*te Real Madrid, it would be similar to signing for ManYoo at this moment.

He earned the right to choose where he wants to go after 7 years of service to the club and delivered almost every trophy there was to be won in his time here. 

Felt 100m Euros is too cheap for what he brings to the table but at 28 + 1year left on his contract, it's the best we could have milked Real I suppose. 

It turns to be a pipe dream to keep Hazard in Chelsea.

Unfortunately, I've got a feeling that the Europe League final would be his last games for us. 

Not going to part with him until it's official, for now, he is ours.

If Eden wants to live out his dream in Madrid with Zizou he has earned the right for me. For almost all of his 7 years here he has taken a none stop kicking and his given his very best most of the time. A top player and great servant.

We just have to invest well and get good players to complement our style to go with Pulisic and CHO. If we fail to do that is on us and only us. Eden has earned the right to decide what he wants, I have zero issue or regret about that, just like with Big Petr and all the rest.

Agree with your sentiments, the only thing for me is I don’t have much faith in our board to ensure we stay at the top.

I’ve got a feeling Hazard is going to be the last world class player we’re going to see at Chelsea for a long time.

I think we will turn into a team that is looking to create top talent from within the club - Rather than buy one. I hope we will get there one day because I’m sick of seeing us spend money on dross.

The prospect of him leaving has been here all season, and I thought I had prepared for it, and at times I even felt it would be beneficial for Chelsea to sell, and rebuild a team.....

You know what’s really pissed me off, the way the media have been willing him to go to Real. Why do our media do that with the PL stars? 

There's honestly a decent chance the fans there don't warm to him and he comes back in 2 years - and I am not at all saying this as a coping mechanism.

I reckon we have dropped our price as a favour to Eden. Can see the fee being about 70mill.

Same.  My favorite ever Chelsea player.  His attitude and skill are going to be missed. I was hard on him during the jose last season fiasco.  But he is on another level skill wise and we struggle to do ANYTHING productive in the final third when he is not on the pitch.  

Ultimately I think the move to real is bad in the long term.  English football is on the rise - all the best coaches, majority of the best players, etc.  Real fans will whistle him when he doesn't score hat tricks every game.

Pretty obvious a done deal. My, and many other of you mates, favorite player the past 7 years. A true joy to watch. He will be 29 next season. How many world class years are left? 3? 5 maybe. He has earned his move, if it means that much to him. I believe its a likely mistake, as Real is a bit in turmoil, but he prefers it, so thanks for the memories! Now go put 3 or 4 past Arsenal and hoist the Europa League trophy May 29th!

As much as I love him, and will thank him from the heart for his efforts over the years, we don’t owe him any ‘favours’.

He has been paid handsomely during his time here. He is a top 3 player in the world, still in his prime, and he wants to leave us. With all that in mind we should be getting the going rate for him at least, and probably a bit more.

Its not like the Cech situation, who was quite a way past his best and we had a ready made replacement for him - or so we thought.

TBH I wish The Mighty Eden would stay until he won a European Cup w/ Chelsea - there is no guarantee he will get one at RM especially the state that club is currently in - IMHO with Pulisic & CHO, Don Maurizio can run that False 9 with better results - Pulisic can play the False 9 & let The Mighty Eden stay on the left flank - I telling you, this formula could bring in dividends

I've said it before and I'll say it again (because everyone loves my controversial posts), he's a fantastic player and has had one of his best seasons with us this year. But he stunk out the place against Leicester, and I've watched him have too many games like that for us. Will be sorry to see him go, but won't shed a tear. Also I hope he wins f**k all with Real. Can't stand players who pimp themselves out the way he has!

On this theme, if our ban was stayed due to CAS and Hazard did go to Real, it really would not surprise me to see us go in for Coutinho as a replacement, as the Barca fans clearly have not warmed to him.

To try and put a positive spin on this... assuming he goes... When we got him 7 years ago he wasnt the finished article he was a hyped up player who had been playing well in a relatively poor french league, bearing in mind it was prior to the PSG money, lets hope that CHO and Pulisic can become the next ones to step up. 

How many people get to fulfill their childhood dream? this appears to be the case for Hazard, can't blame him for leaving after 7 years of excellent services. I don't think any amount of money would have persuaded him.

Complete opposite ends of the spectrum as far as how each one has gone about leaving.  Courtois was a snake.

It still hurts that he is leaving. Always respect the man for the way he represented the badge, He is a blue through and through. This situation is absolutely zero like Courtois. If Chelsea said, "No, Eden. We aren't going to sell you because we can't sell you because of X,Y,Z.." I believe he wouldn't do what Coutrois did. Courtois is a child and immature and a snake. He did the same thing at Genk that he did at Chelsea so it's in his damn blood.

No Courtois has been a massive c*nt through the whole saga. You’re actually insulting Hazard by saying he’s doing the same. If we don’t reach an agreement with Real and Hazard really wants to go, he’ll have a word in private rather than forcing a move out like Courtois did.

Courtois actually did us a massive favour anyway, Kepa is much better for our style. Courtois would be a nightmare under Sarri.

About the release clause, I guess we didn’t want to take the risk in case someone activated it.
