December 17, 201411 yr Whilst its a decent token, no one pronounces his name properly (apart from a few Chelsea TV people), so it would probably grate on him.

March 3, 201511 yr Great article on the big man in the Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2977462/Roman-Abramovich-invested-money-Chelsea-mega-rich-owner-s-passion-brought-European-success.html
March 3, 201511 yr Great article on the big man in the Mail http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2977462/Roman-Abramovich-invested-money-Chelsea-mega-rich-owner-s-passion-brought-European-success.html Wow, great article, nice to hear him get some praise and to have his obvious passion for football recognised. It's also nice that our European savvy, so often written off as reactionary/small club tactics, is being recognised as an effective approach, which clearly Man City (4-4-2 against Barcelona) and co have yet to grasp. One little quibble though: the obsession with pressing pioneered by Pep Guardiola I think they meant to say 'Graham Taylor'... ;)

Good little interview if it's on iPlayer. That last line though. Next week may prove otherwise, but at present it looks as though only Chelsea can truly represent the best of Premier League football abroad. And for that we may have to thank Roman Abramovich.
March 4, 201511 yr That was a good article! Thanks for linking it Blue Daze! I must admit I have been critical of Roman in the past especially on two occasions when Mourinho was gone by 'mutual consent' in 2007 and later when RDM was sacked and Benitez was appointed interim manager. Those were tough times for many Chelsea supporters under Roman's ownership but amongst all of that he's done a lot of good for the club and that should be noted and recognised. What I admire most about Roman lately is the fact that he seems to be learning the hard lessons of football about patience and developing something special. I think for a while there Roman thought instant success could always be repeated especially after what happened in 2005 and 2006 but football has changed and with that Roman has had to change to be able to evolve the club and evolve his decision making to keep up with the best in the world. There's no question about Roman's commitment and passion to the club and his deep interest in the sport in general. His mere presence at most Chelsea games is evident itself that he's passionate about the club. However as long as Roman understands that he's a merely a supporter who owns the club and not a managerial tactician who can bring success through his knowledge and expertise on the sport then the club is in excellent hands. So far since Jose's reign I've been very impressed with him and his team of people to create something special for the club behind closed doors with managing our finances especially during a period where the FFP system is now existent. I'm not going to lie I was pretty close to advocating for his removal as owner during the Benitez saga but he's turned things around remarkably well and made the correct decision to bring back Jose. Now the results are starting to show for themselves with our first success under Jose since his return in June 2013. Edited March 4, 201511 yr by Jezz
April 27, 201511 yr Now the title is all but draped with blue and white with JT’s hands jittering knowing he’s only a matter of weeks (or days) from lifting the title I think it’s a good opportunity to thank the man who put all this in place….Mr Abramovich. Yes he has his faults as does everyone in this world but the great thing about our Roman is he is humble enough to make right his previous wrongs and his biggest wrong is also his biggest success yet again……..Jose. Now we are back where we belong with our most successful manager of all-time leading our proud club into a new exciting era as top dogs in English football with a record sponsorship deal behind us as well as a world class football side… 12 Years now in charge of a club playing in the most competitive league in Europe…. 1 Champions League 1 Europa League 4 EPL titles 4 FA Cups 3 League Cups Cheers Roman.
April 27, 201511 yr I'll never find this unfunny: But yes, he's transformed us from a debt-ridden mess on the fringes of Europe to genuine European contenders, FFP masters and a top global brand.
April 27, 201511 yr I know we're on the verge but let's try not to jinx it I don't think we can. 6 points is all we need and even at that our rivals need to win every single game...it's done mate.
April 27, 201511 yr I don't think we can. 6 points is all we need and even at that our rivals need to win every single game...it's done mate. Yeah but at least let's wait until its official. I of course think it's over but I won't sing til it is.
April 27, 201511 yr Yeah but at least let's wait until its official. I of course think it's over but I won't sing til it is. IF it's good enough for JT and the boys to celebrate then it's good enough for me Bobby ;). Champions.

Add to the the following records:Most points even won in a BPL season Fewest goals ever conceded in a BPL season Most goals scored in a BPL season Only club ever to have held both European Cups in the same calendar year/at the same time There's probably a few players and a manager from this Era who might deserve a statue but behind them should be a bigger one of Roman celebrating like he always does. What an owner, what a fan. Thank you. Edited April 27, 201511 yr by Barry Bridges

April 27, 201511 yr As I said in youth forum, clearly getting bored with chelsea just as everyone said he would, using it as his toy and about to bugger off
April 27, 201511 yr The only team to have led the league from start to finish Sadly, not even we are going to achieve that. After the second game, Tottenham were leading on goal difference.
April 27, 201511 yr Sadly, not even we are going to achieve that. After the second game, Tottenham were leading on goal difference. I didn't know that, what a shame.
