People will still think half a good season in the Dutch league is better than coming on and winning England the game lmao. Needs to start for us next season.

He did okay when he came on but "winning England the game" is stretching it a bit!!

Also think he could do with shedding a few pounds - he might have been able to keep that other ball in if he was a bit sleeker!

won us the corner for the goal  Should be starting ahead of Alli imo, he did nothing last night.

HUGE RLC fan, but i dont think he was that good.

Maybe better than Alli, who i still think is not that good, but he didn't really do much

Regardless, England looked better with him on the pitch. That's still quite an achievement.

Thought he should have been bought on around 70th minute.

Alli had completely faded from the game by that point. RLC looked positive when he came on and I would fully expect him to continue getting minutes being bought on as sub.

Does he have the engine to play for a full 90 minutes, his stamina always seemed to be something that he needed to work on and there were a few of the England players that were looking leggy towards the end of the game last night.

Yeah, what have we got to lose - at least have him in the squad. It's not as if he has to play every game and to be honest, I'm not sure he'll ever be a play 90 minutes every week player, but at least we can TRY and make him a fixture in the side. At least until Mount comes along and ousts him from the starting 11, eh @RIP Mourinho

He looks like he’s hit the gym and bulked up, that was the first thought that jumped in my head when he came on.

I like his physique. That extra bit of muscle added to his height can only help him. He's very good at shielding the ball and rarely gets knocked off the ball.

The main that impressed me last night, was the intensity and urgency he played with.

It is an area of his game that is often critised, but he was really trying to make things happen.

I thought he should've been on about 5 mins into the second half, when it became clear that alli wasn't fit.

Hopefully he gets a start against Panama as it would be stupid to risk alli in that game, when there is Belgium and potentially knock out games around the corner.

I liked that he had the confidence to impose himself immediately on the game, hes still a very young player with no real big game experience yet here he was subbed on in a world cup game and looked like he had the confidence to grab the game. It really surprised me as I honestly didn't think he had that mentality in him.

I would imagine the RLC thread on a football forum after a game is exactly the time and place to talk about RLC.

You know what i mean.

Even though im not his biggest fan, i was happy to see one of our own come on for England in a world cup game and the last thing that was on my mind was taking a cheap shot at another one of our young players.

He tends to play wide right for Palace and England I think. I think he could play in a 3 man CM, but he's been putting in these good performances as a wide player. I'm not sure he would fit in as a wide player here though. Depends what whoever the managaer wants to do, but I really hope we give him the kind of chance Christensen got this season.

My only reservation regarding RLC is that his body language doesn't give the impression of intensity, high pressing, pouncing on opportunities and rapid movement on and off the ball and that's what I have seen from the few snippets that I have looked at recently of Sarri's game play. Of course this is purely his gait and his body movement. In reality RLC does have a quick turn of pace over a short distance and has got the technique to pop it off accurately for fun. I'm just still not totally convinced that Sarri will see RLC is a Sarri type of player. Ironically I think Willian fits more into the mould of his type of industrious busy midfielder.

Of course

Pogba used to play incredibly wide during his Juve days (his best performances). Imagine RLC could play a similar role in a 3 man mid with Chelsea.

Hi body language doesn't give that impression, because that is not how he plays. His approach to the game is not one of a high-octane, high pressing, bull in a china shop manner. I see him more as a silky Rolls Royce, with the vision, touch, skill and strength to make things happen in attack, whilst contributing to defence by cutting off the passing channels.

Silky Rolls Royce in appearance, but under the bonnet he's just a cheap knockoff.
