Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Well...the way things are just now...looks like he's staying.   He'll have agreed to stay the whole season and do his best if so, otherwise he'll sit on the bench and be useless to Atletico in January.  It's not likely that Atletico will turf their main striker to accommodate him in Jan either, when you think about it, they play as a unit.

I'll be happy to get another year out of Costa, if it happens.

A year where he's not at it is useless to us.

we have seen what a cant be arsed Costa gives us and it's a risk we can ill afford to take. We'd be complete mugs not to bring in a top striker for next season.

Even if he agrees to stay the whole season he will only show up and perform at his best 60% of the season like usual.

We have CL football which means more matches for him to go completely invisible at.

IMHO he has burned his bridge with our club and we need to find a replacement ASAP.

Hopefully this makes our board overdose on caffeine and get a deal done for a top striker. I thought we were slow esp with preseason starting soon but with rumors of Costa aggravation it just makes the need a lot more higher !!

If Costa has no intention of turning up for pre-season training the club should fine him.

There's no way Diego makes a CL appearance for us, cup-ties him and as such probably knocks about 25% off of any Atleti bid.

On the one hand he is getting paid to play so unless he plans on not taking his salary he should be there. On the other he was allegedly told he's not part of the manager's plans so maybe he's thinking 'why should I be there?' I see where he's coming from and we've put ourselves in a poor situation here but to not turn up and avoid trying to resolve the problem is a d!ck move.

It makes me think we were sure of signing Lukaku, whether or not United were in for him from the start. Too many things seem like they've been handled poorly

He's made himself pretty undesirable for clubs to buy him by acting like he is. Diego is still one of the top strikers in the world.

The poor f**ker didn't learn the language (by choice) and now he is sick of living in england. Probably some other reasons too...

If Conte has actually said he doesn't count Diego in his squad we have a problem. If it is something Diego just said in an interview there is a chance to turn his head.

We need a great striker for the coming season. Diego or someone else. I love Michy but it is too soon for him.

If Conte actually said that he doesn't count on Costa, then I hope Conte does exactly that: Not count on an individual who does not want to stay here.

If it is something that Costa just made up to get a move, then I hope he rots in hell. Also, why should we care if we can turn his head. What kind of a precedent does it set? That a player can make sh*t up sh*t to get a transfer, that too say all of that sh*t to the media. Sorry, but there is no coming back from what Costa did, irrespective if the text was sent or not.

We would have denied it all with an official statement if that was the case i think.

When Costa is fit and playing 100% there is no other person on this forum who appreciates what he contributes more than myself.  But this nonsense has been going on essentially since he got here.  Conte clearly doesn't have the patience for it and has told him off...you want to be a baby Diego go be a baby.  No player is bigger than the club, especially one who doesn't want to be here.

IMO Costa had the opportunity to make Conte be the 100% bad guy.  But Costa has leaked texts, made it public he wants to play elsewhere, and not shown up to team training.  These are exactly the reasons why Costa can't be in future plans for Chelsea, as good as he is when he's head down playing footie the right way.

The only problem I see is we didn't have anyone else lined up to move in for him.  Making this so public has made every fee rise by at least 15% for our club, and in turn lowered Costa's valuation.  A sticky situation made poorer by both Conte and Costa...but the end result I feel is and always has been inevitable.

Let's sign Morata and be done with it.  Recoup what we can for Costa to the highest bidder.  Right now we dictate what happens with Costa.  You don't want to be here? Fine, we will sell you to whatever club pays the most.  If you don't agree to personal terms with them OK, rot on our bench.  You want to play dirty games Costa that's fine, the club hold the cards until your contract runs out.

On his day he's an absolute beast of a striker, but he clearly doesn't want to be at Chelsea, so the sooner he leaves and opens up a place for someone who does want to play for the club, the better.

Breaking news on sky sports.

Costa wants to stay, but conte says there's no future here for him.

Really think we should keep him, and sign another top forward. If costa wants to play then let him earn his place with quality performances.

???????????????

If Costa wants to stay, and we just lost out on Lukaku, AND Batshuayi is currently our only viable first team striker....then why are we continuing down the "no place for him" road.  When on form Costa is a wonderful player.

Unless Costa is only "playing nice" until winter comes around then moans and groans for a move back to Atleti.  Maybe he is just trying to earn playing time with the WC coming around?

Seen this on Sky.........

COSTA LATEST

Sky sources understand there is no way back for Diego Costaat Chelsea.

We are told “he is finished at Chelsea for sure and has played his last game for the club”.

He wants to stay, but accepts there is no future for him at Chelsea. He fell out with Conte and Conte has had enough.

The striker’s potential transfer to Atletico Madrid is being negotiated now.

Ha! One of my finest typos! I had  a great time. I was staying with a pupil from a long time ago, who is now his country's Ambassador to Europe. He and his wife gave a party for me where they invited THREE other Ambassadors!  Their thoughts on Trump are unprintable.

Sorry, off-topic I know. I shall go and sin no more.
