Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

Fighting for the team to me means fighting decisions/actions that the players feel is unjust, like when we were pressuring refs when Costa and Fabregas got booked for diving when there was clear contact.

This isn't what happened here though, Costa's reaction which started the whole incident was completely unprovoked. I'm all for fighting for the team/aggression/whatever but surely there has to be a reason behind it first?

How can you not like the guy? He puts absolutley everything into it.The more they hate him the more I love him.

Predator.

Interesting Motd comments and to see the replay.

The fact that some of our own fans don't like him is a sign of the times, it saddens me how soft the game has become, Costa is in the Keane/Viera mould and people aren't used to it I guess, because he's a throwback. I'll admit that he can go too far, but he gets a lot of unjust criticism as well, today he probably crossed the line, but he also gave everything, every neutral and rival fan hates him, but I don't understand our own fans who bash him. Arsenal fans would love him in their team, other fans would love him in their team, I heard those idiots on Talksh*t earlier saying he wouldn't be in their team, they know they're lying.

Maybe we should think about bringing Torres back, if so many supposely Chelsea fans can not stand Costa, makes you think what they do want.

Drogba.

A God of a footballer.

Can't remember where I saw, or heard this due to the amount of media coverage today, but apparently Brazilian players have an issue with Costa changing nationality and playing for Spain. I saw Oscar was also on the end of a shove.

I know he was treading a very dangerous line, but how refreshing to see a chelsea player fighting for the team again...it's been a while...rightly or wrongly, his performance inspired the others to follow suit and take the battle to the opposition...about time

I disagree Brit. I thought up to the Gabriel incident Costa had played his best football of the season by far. He channelled the agression the right way. But from that point on he was more interested in having a row and his game went massively backwards. José was dead right to bring him off when he did.

There is a world of difference between playing on the edge and being a headcase. Today there were times when he was close to being Roy Keane raving nutjob.

I dunno I think someone who constantly goads and starts on people is kinda pathetic myself. Sure you can stand up to people when the situation calls for it and use you're body in certain ways to bully a defender but the way he's up pushing etc at everything I just don't like it.

He's quite often being wound up himself though, people quite often goad him and no one says anything. He can go too far, no doubt, but he plays on the edge, that's what you're going to get with him. No one today has mentioned that Koscielny tried to get Costa sent off, there is no way that Koscielny has to fall to ground after Costa has just slightly bumped him, but this wasn't even mentioned on MOTD, I don't condone all of his actions but it's a typical British media reaction to make him look worse than he actually is. I can understand why he may frustrate some fans, but I think people have to take the rough with the smooth.

It's a sad state of affairs when the ref and liney managed

the situation , cards were given , players on both sides wth the needle and verbal, Whinger gets on his high horse and the media follow suit

Predictably the FA will charge Costa as Dean will have missed a vital moment of ultra violence from Costa just like the criminal stamp on Emre Chan last season.

Love it that manager named him motm

Agree just. People need to look at his barge or whatever it was on Oxlade-Chamberlain in the second-half. We were 1-0 up or 2-0 up at the time. It's totally unprovoked and it's a bookable offence and therefore a red. Furthermore, he's obviously been told at half-time by Jose he's treading a fine line and he needs to watch it. Just utter madness. He gets a red there, nobody can complain, he gets banned and how does that serve the team? Yes, he got away with it today, but if he had been sent off for the incident with Koscielny, instead of getting a yellow, they would have had the man advantage and people need to consider that, because he's not going to get away with it too much longer. Sure, Jose's defending him to the hilt in public but you can bet he's having a very strong word with him in private.

Ive a feeling Art is an ex member who has been banned, Art Vandelay is a name often used as an alias.

Art Vanderlay, Architect, was the fictional alter ego of George Coztanza in Seinfeld.

George in reality was an overweight, balding loser with massive insecurities. I suspect probably very much like the Art Vanderlay who has chosen to share his opinons on the Shed End recently.

That barge on Chamberlain was really nothing, just a slight coming together, it's not a bookable offence. He does need to know when to pack it in at times though, but I really think the media and fans alike are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Coming together? Mate, that's completely one-eyed, it's all Costa's doing, and it's stupid. It may not be the worst offence in the world, of course it's not, but when you're walking a tight rope, why do it, the game's won, why do it? You stand to gain nothing yet you stand to lose a lot. Jose hauled him off immediately after and rightly so.

What was Gabriel doing getting involved in the first place? CostaKoscielny was nothing to do with him. Gabriel went looking for confrontation and it backfired on him. F***ing tough. No sympathy. Costa has just played through a whole season of getting nothing from any Premiership Referee, no protection, nothing. Last season was a farce in terms of the number of penalties Costa should have been awarded. It was running joke on these pages. I don't blame Costa for upping the ante early doors this season. Last season taught him a lesson in the Premiership  = 'get your retaliation in first'. And now we're supposed to criticise him for it? Not me. if you don't want Costa's hand in your face - don't grab him or stick your arm across his face or rake his heels do or those 'subtle' fouls that ARE STILL FOULS and then go off crying to the ref because Costa fouled you worse than you fouled him. F**k Off!

Have to admit at times I agree with that Bobby... but then I remember both standing up for and supporting Dennis Wise for doing basically the same thing, maybe not as often, but some of the same things that Diego did.

Wisey is still one of my favourites. Diego reminds me a lot of him.

I see what you're saying, he shouldn't have done it, but I really didn't think it was that bad.
