Even on the rare occassion when someone says something disgusting, they get criticised for it. That's the arsenal way And they think they have more class than us. Every club i have seen that says they have more class than us always end up saying disgusting things soon after. September 19, 201510 yr Well that was a most enjoyable game, after the first 10 mins I was never in any doubt that we"d win. An early Saturday victory really sets you up for the weekend !!!! Well deserved too, forget the contoversy we were by far the better team.
September 19, 201510 yr If I heard correctly, in his post-match interview Wenger mentioned that they were dominating the game prior to the sending offs... Give me strength...
September 19, 201510 yr Fancy us to get beat Newcastle now, I thought they'd be ok under Mclaren, but already struggling.Yep. They somehow look worse than when John 'Best Manager In The League' Carver was in charge.
September 19, 201510 yr Hopefully he got the reception he deserves. Still feel he should be here, still the world's best for me. LEGEND Big Pete. I didn't see the first half, but hopefully he got a good reception. Then again, if big Kurt's happy, I'm happy!
September 19, 201510 yr Thinking about that performance I'm surprised we haven't had more posts in this thread, we have been badly out of form and today was a huge game and could be one that really marks the kickstart the CL game gave us. The Manager again got everything right against a team that always challenges and is packed with good players, looking at the games up to now we can see that this slump could be a good thing and I'd choose to have had it in the first five games rather than in November when it's much harder to correct it. The players who have been castigated in the press and by our own have shown once again that they still have it, this wasn't them in top form but it was them improving which is a frightening thing for the opposition. Zouma looks like he'll have a great career here and we've had the good performances by RLC and Baba midweek to show our strength in depth may not be as poor as the transfer window might suggest. I know nothing brings people onto the forum more than a good defeat but I'd love to see some positivity for todays improvements and I'd love to see some Mourinho doubters take a step back and see that players he has faith in can still cut it. I loved Fabregas's performance today, not least because it must irk the gooner faithful but because I've had my doubts about him more than I have Ivan but they both (and I mean even before the sending off) done well today. Can't wait to see this squad used a little bit more and can't wait to see what Jose can do after giving a quality squad like City have a head start, If it isn't to be than I'm still going to get my seasons entertainment out of watching us try. Perhaps some members are fed up with the constant sniping at people with opposite opinions. So what if people think Mourinho should be sacked, or on the opposite side, so what if people think he cannot do wrong?! It's a forum, so discuss opinions instead of shouting each other down. Too many times people revert to namecalling. And namecalling begets namecalling, and not just in match chat, which is not for the fainthearted at the best of times. It's practically in every football-related thread, and the intolerance and vitriol is driving me crazy. So, Chippy, I might not be the only one staying away to remain sane. Well, sane-ish. September 19, 201510 yr I am sorry for this question, but I was not able to watch the game. Was Eva on the sidelines as our team doctor?

September 19, 201510 yr Like I said - easy victory against the easiest possible team to rise us. We could put them another 6 but the pressure was big and we needed an easy match with no risk. Very well done.

September 19, 201510 yr Very pleased with the win, and that result far more than the Tel Aviv game will boost our confidence. Not getting too carried away yet though as next week at Newcastle will be a better indicator as to whether we've got over the nightmare of the first five games. Costa was certainly lucky to stay on the park (especially because of who he is) but I fancy we'd still have won that anyway. Funny how that incident is being portrayed as the reason we won and yet the fact that we could well have been a goal up by then after being denied a stonewall penalty before that doesn't get a mention. Same old same old.
September 19, 201510 yr Great win over the hapless gooners Dominated and after Gabriel walked there was only 1 outcome Thought a lot of the criticized Players stepped up but still there's another performance level to hit , hope that's what we all enjoy in the next match

I'm not asking anyone not to have opinions Val, all I'm saying is have an opinion after a good performance as well and maybe step back and wonder if all the snipes at the managers choices were actually valid. I do it myself, Fabregas would have been watching on the tele had I been picking the team and I'm happy to say he was superb today and the manager (surprise surprise) knew better than me. I'm not sniping at people with opposite opinions, just saying as does happen in some instances, it would be nice if people came out and congratulated the manager on getting things right even though it was against what they believed before kick off. Not a rule I'm trying to make, just my opinion (without any namecalling whatsoever).
September 19, 201510 yr I thought this was amusing re Costa http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2015/sep/19/chelsea-diego-costa-evidence-heist-arsenal
September 19, 201510 yr In all the fury about Costa getting Gabriel sent off it seems every pundit Britain has forgotten about the stonewall penalty committed against Hazard by Gabriel. Simply put, his yellow should of been his second and he shouldn't of even been on the pitch to get that straight red. Costa might get a ban for his face shove and one could hardly be surprised or angry if he does.... but I'm thinking the team will continue this little surge without him so I'm not too worried. His fire was essential to winning this game against a local rival after our poor form but now I think the team is getting that loving feeling once more and can subsist on that. Super excited to see the message was given to shoot from range this game but a little dissapointed with how many of our counters could of atlas tried for that final killer ball bit didnt. Players were making good runs. Defence since Wednesday has looked like the last month has all been a bad dream. It's like someone found Ivan tied up in his closet and elimated the evil clone who has been sabotaging his name this past while. Edited September 19, 201510 yr by Barry Bridges

September 19, 201510 yr Should creating a media frenzy post-match not be against the rules? BBC covering Saint Wenger "He [Costa] will do the same again next week and the week after that and he always gets away with it," said Wenger. When asked if the FA should take retrospective action, Wenger added: "That is the least they could do. "Costa can do what he wants and yet he stays on and everyone who responds to him has to be sent off. He hits Koscielny in the face yet he gets away with it. "I understand referee Mike Dean's decision to send Gabriel off. He was guilty and should not have got involved but why does Costa stay on the pitch after what he has done? "Costa is always involved in provocation and he used the naivety of Mike Dean well. It is nothing to do with the strength of a referee. You expect him to make the right decision."
