August 13, 20196 yr Do we think Tammy will score more league goals for Chelsea this season than Morata will score league goals for Atletico?

August 14, 20196 yr Does anyone feel maybe he will do better in a 2 striker system ? Maybe a better question should be given that our entire squad is a collection of past the prime or subpar or unproven players - what would be the best formation and players for scoring the most goals ?
August 14, 20196 yr The missed penalty will be his battle scar. A great excuse to keep training hard and keep trying even harder till the day he can redeem himself. I got you Tammy just don't give up, the fans are right there just keep building up the passion, the love, the hate whatever you call it.
August 14, 20196 yr If only we had someone in the coaching staff who could teach him how to take the near perfect penalty. Maybe someone who’s taken plenty in his time and never often missed. Someone who was a nature born goal scorer with records to his name. Hilario maybe?
August 14, 20196 yr From a few battles he had with Van Dijk - he showed me that he is up for it and I am fairly confident he has the character to not let this dent his confidence. Still keep taking your shots Tammy and getting in those positions and the goals will come. Felt like the moment got to him tonight - and I think we all felt it that he wasn't going to do get that in. You just get that feeling he needs that starting goal to kick on and play his football. A couple of situations tonight where I don't think he made the right run - but they will work on that, and still happy to see him getting in the right positions in the first place. Generally been a little unlucky and I am encouraged by the fact that he has gotten into positions of chances (sometimes making them out of nowhere) and also showed glimpses of great interplay with Mount tonight. I think he will come good in the end! Perhaps not necessarily as a first-team starter in the long term - but someone who will be serviceable and a good option to have at the very least... but the sky is the limit and hopefully he uses tonight as motivation to continue working hard and prove people wrong!
August 14, 20196 yr People will mainly remember the penalty miss, but he did win the penalty through his work ethic chasing a lost cause, and also with pretty much his first touch of the ball, probably saved a goal with his block after Kepa had knocked the ball onto the bar. Edit: With that being said, Giroud was also very good and I think his interplay in tight spaces means he should be the first choice for now. Edited August 14, 20196 yr by Jonty

Yeah - and I am sure our staff and the other players will point out that we would not have even got to that point if it wasn't for him. And again, I am encouraged by the mere fact he once again got into positions where he was able to have a crack at opportunities - even though they didn't go in this time! Just feel like he needs to keep his head up and keep at it. I want to see him try pinging it in again like he did against United for instance! Agree with you on Giroud too: I think he is our best striker right now - however the beauty of it is that our season will be jam packed with games, and Tammy will have plenty more opportunities to prove himself throughout the season! But right now the best XI has to include Giroud (who's grossly underrated I feel).

I did think going into this season the best option would be Giroud for 60 odd mins to tire out the centrehalfs then Tammy to come on and stretch with the extra pace...
August 15, 20196 yr Not too bothered about the penalty miss, more about the open goal he put wide. Having said that i still want him first choice going into the easier run we have coming up. This is character building and will either make or break him.

I don’t think he’s underrated, we all know the qualities he has, the problem is Lampard wants us to press from the front and Giroud simply doesn’t have the legs for it which is why Abraham will be first choice irrelevant in my opinion.
August 15, 20196 yr @EdinburghBlue Sarri also wanted to do this without success. I honestly think without a pretty big overhaul in our front three (which isn't currently possible) the pressing approach is best left in the draw. it just leaves us too exposed and not just against good teams either. Tammy also isn't that great at pressing. His positioning can be really quite awful. Giroud is the best option for now, particularly because he links well and creates options for the other forwards, something Tammy doesn't have in his locker yet.
August 15, 20196 yr Unlike the last young striker who missed the decisive penalty in the super cup for us, he won't be send out on loan by Lampard. It was a huge ask to take the last penalty, should have been some more experienced to be honest. He needs and will get better, this is part of the learning curve unfortunately.
August 15, 20196 yr People writing him off already after 1.3 games is a bit weird, we have only played basically two away games against top opposition, and yet you are prepared to throw him under the bus if he doesn't score. During this period he should be getting our full support, even when he f**ks up, anyone that expects a young player to smash the best defence in ?Europe? after two games is being very unrealistic.

Good thing the same people were not in charge when Drogba arrived. Would have shipped him back to France for being too wasteful and soft.

August 15, 20196 yr Giroud is probably the best option right now, however if Lamps believes that in Abraham will develop and improve to be a better option than Giroud, then he has to stick with Abraham. Personslly i would stick with Abraham and try and develop him. Giroud is a good rotational option, but with expectations slightly lowered this season, and Giroud having probably a year or two left at best, i think would be short termism, and a missed opportunity, not to give Abraham valuable experience and game time to see if he can make the grade.
August 15, 20196 yr I don't see why people want to give Tammy shit for that pk. Adrian was a foot off of his line when Abraham took the PK Don't forget Abraham helped stop a goal in the 2nd half & got a pk in Extratime
