October 24, 20169 yr Anyone surprised by how "indifferent" we seemed towards Jose? I expected a much bigger fanfare but apart from the odd chant towards the end, the fans seemed not too bothered. I was surprised as well. Maybe they wanted to show more respect towards Conte which I can totally understand.
October 24, 20169 yr The parade around the pitch at half time by the family was very moving.Contes passion is great to watch and the crowd were superb.Great day.

October 25, 20169 yr As far as I concern, Conte could use the home crowd to his advantage anyway he wants, as long he doesn't cross that line. He certainly didn't cross the line, it's not like he was aiming at the opposition fans or shook hands with Jose 5 minutes from the end. Ironically, Jose did some of that during his days, and we all loved it. Jose was either so calculated he decided to make a story to distract media scrutiny on his players, or he just lost his mind in the heat of the battle. Either way, doesn't bother nobody. The return match at OT will be a match to look forward to, I'm sure Jose will try to get into Conte's head prior to kick off. Everything I read and watched, only people who had problems with Conte was the usual critics from ESPN, so f* them! Edited October 25, 20169 yr by icecoolguy22
October 25, 20169 yr I think Conte can't be really criticized for anything he's done so far. He took over a squad of superb talent that underperformed very badly for a season. He has assessed the squad and we are once more looking like a team. Early early days still but when you can harness the talent we have it will give the results. Comparing Jose and Conte is not really fair for either but so far in the league Conte's done better in with a squad in similar state.
October 25, 20169 yr Players look really happy and sorry to add a downer to this fine run but I still don't trust some of the mentalities in a long season. We have seen when happy and motivated the ability is there but we have players that down tools and just stop playing which is why I still think we need some new blood, keep things competitive and dilute that mentality out that killed us last season. We managed to find a group of great players who can feed off each others negativity or positivity so when we play we all play but when we look stale it runs through the team. A new world class RW, some serious competition for Matic and a good LB (although Alonso has been fantastic and not for lack of trying he is limited) which I don't feel great about saying considering the effort and performances he puts in, but if we do get players in these positions we will have an elite level squad. I think we are good for centre backs and if you go back to the luiz thread I said he will silence a lot of doubters and I think he has, not a foot wrong since he came and he works perfectly in this system, he is our arguably best all round CB right now. With zouma coming back and Christiansen next season do we need a 60 mil 30 year old, not for me. We are in a good position and playing fantastic but with the players we have the fear is always there, they just haven't earned back that full trust yet, they have it in them to disappear en masse. I hope this momentum continues until January and unlike our tittle winning season the board doesn't say ahh they seem ok carry on, rather we build on strength and get a couple of players in.
October 25, 20169 yr No doubt, Jose behaved like a petulant child and did not lose gracefully, anybody who thinks Conte went too far needs their head tested.
October 25, 20169 yr I think people are blowing it way out of proportion. That was not the display of a petulant child. He didn't go on about in his post match (although I didn't watch it, but not really his MO so doubt he did anyway), he put a word in Conte's ear privately and that is it. If he wanted to be petulant there is far easier ways than that. In a way he is lucky lip reading experts got a morsel to chew because the stuff people were speculating he said was quite ridiculous already. Wenger not shaking an oppo managers hand for the 45th time is petulant. Edited October 25, 20169 yr by Stim
October 25, 20169 yr ^^ agree with Stim. He is a sore loser, everyone knows that. But it was a private conversation and he didn't say anything in his press conference. People will jump at anything he does to paint him the wrong way.

October 25, 20169 yr Always stuck up for Jose, even when I knew he was out of order, as he was our manager, though last season was really a watershed moment that a lot of us still don't have the answers to. From game one with the medical staff, to antics that just took us in a direction that made the football secondary, and a team that tried the same thing over and over again with the same personnel even though it didn't work the week before. Always will remember the trophies and the celebrations and that brilliant side from his first spell. I felt we should have backed him last season and blamed the board for getting it wrong, only now I'm not so sure they did. The verbals to Conte at the end of the match were not acceptable whatever was said, it was ungracious and lacked humility. Jason Cundy's views last night on Talksport were interesting. far from being supportive of such a successful manager, Cundy touched on how being close to the club he knew a lot of people behind the scenes who would be pleased he had been humiliated as he had upset a lot of people. He is a bit like our Julius Caesar, and it seems that so many had had enough, it was time to move on. Now people are questioning whether his footballing intelligence is on the wane, and from what we've witnessed it is a perfectly reasonable question to ask (relying on defensive tactics, inability to alter the course of games these days, all with access to a large transfer kitty and more than enough time to know what it takes in the EPL) the answer remains to be seen. I am more than happy with Conte and assume that after the weekend so is Roman.

Jose used it so we would talk about it and not how bad man utd performed. That's my view on it

Guess he said it before he left the stadium which he thought was private but didn't account for all the lip readers around :)

It's crazy, he was the player i wanted more than anybody else this season and we got him. At the end of last season, i did not expect Kante to be a Chelsea player.

Not very private in front of 40k and millions on TV, if he wanted a private word do it after game, in the tunnel or in managers room sharing a glass of wine, sad to see but Jose is looking more and more like a dinosaur of a coach and seems to have lost another group of players.

Maybe he learnt his lesson that there are lip readers around. Maybe not. Feel sad for him either way. Hope he bounces back but not with United though.
October 25, 20169 yr You can't defend him this time, it was the definition of petulance, just shake the mans hand and move on. Giving Conte a lecture on when he should rally his own fans, in his own stadium is disrespectful and unnecessary, if he wanted to, he could have had a word in the dressing room, he did it because he was angry he didn't get his own way, simple.
