Alvaro Morata

Or if we look at it another way:

Mins: 1745

Goals: 15

Assist: 7

Average goal contribution every 79.3 minutes.

In comparison, Aguero only averaged goal contribution every 81.9 minutes.

By no way am I saying he is better than Aguero, but stats can be deceiving.

Not sure where you got your numbers from. He has 2777 Serie A minutes. But Whoscored gives him 12 assists.

In total he has:

4055 minutes (CL + Serie A)

22 goals

14 assists

So that's a goal or assist every 112.6 minutes

Compare that to Kelechi Iheanacho, who Man City developed from their youth squad and paid like 1 mln EUR to buy:

1198 minutes

14 goals

5 assists

A goal or assist every 63.1 minutes

Or our own Bertrand Traore:

513 minutes

5 goals

1 assist

A goal or assist every 85.5 minutes.

Enough with the purchases. We have Batshuayi and Costa. Why not give Solanke and Traore some room to breath?

There you go mate, says 1456 Serie A minutes.

OK. Now I see where you made your mistake:

Your 1745 minutes does not include the playing time in the Coppa Italia and in international friendlies, but it does count the goals. Additionally: Should we be counting international goals? His stats for 2015/2016 are:

Seria A: 1456 minutes

CL: 534 minutes

Copa Italia: 387 minutes

Total: 2377 minutes

12 goals

11 assists

Ergo: a goal or assist every 103.3 minutes

Still better than Costa's goal or assist every 132.2 minutes though.

But he isn't African like Traore so i suppose that's a negative.

These rates tend to go down when a player becomes a regular.

The issue is the cost of 60 mln EUR.

Take Arkadiusz Milik:

3272 minutes, 24 goals, 12 assists and would probably cost 20 mln EUR (given Janssen cost 24 mln).

If we need to buy let's buy him. He also looked like a much better player than Morata at the Euros.

All in all I would however prefer to see Solanke and Traore given extra minutes.

I do like the idea of Milik, he's quality, and his name would add to the list of unpronounceable names in our team Arkadiusz Milik, Azpilicueta and Batshuayi, poor Paul Merson would have a seizure if all three of them were on the pitch.

But then again, everything I've seen from Traore tells me he could grow into a top notch striker, he's quick, good with the ball at his feet, a decent passer, good movement, and a howitzer of a left foot. Just needs a bit more composure and confidence in from of goal.

Milik, Dave, Batman. Sorted.

I see that the Morata rumours have resurfaced again. I still hold the same opinion of him that i did a few months ago, i don't rate him that highly. I certainly don't rate him high enough to lead our line if Diego Costa leaves. It would be a massive downgrade.

The best signing we could ever have is tying Costa down to a long term contract.

Name me any striker in the world and they're still nowhere near Costa's level on his current form.

I honestly believe Costa is currently the best striker in the world and any replacement will be a massive downgrade.

I still think he would be a good replacement. Yes he hasnt got the best goalkeepers scoring record, although he is on 9 this season, so should hit the 20 goal mark if given the chances.

I dont see us getting a dybala, aubemayang, muller, and greizmann looks United bound.

I think he would form a fluid attack with the players we have around him.

Hope costa stays though and all this is moot.

I hope Costa stays, if we had to replace him though I'd rather look at Icardi, Belotti has also been in fine form this season but there was talk of arsenal bidding 60mil on him. I seem to remember vague Muriel rumours but I think if he came he'd be rotation for all three

I've only seen him once or twice, but he sounds like the most naff replacement we can find. A bench warmer who at no point in his career has looked like a 20 a season striker. No thanks

How's he played this season? Is he starting many games or is he used mostly as a sub for Benzema?

He has only played 624 mins in the league compared to Costa's  1681. With 5 league goals to Costa's 12

Isn't it annoying the players Mou went after so hard with us and couldn't bring to Chelsea (Pogba, Greizmann) he is now getting at UTD, he may aswell buy stones too just to take the piss and then sell him

Suarez and Lewandowski are better strikers and judging by their stats are in similar form to Costa.

I would love him here if Costa leaves, Morata is going to become a world class striker, I have always said it when he finally gets to be 1st choice striker at a top club he will score for fun. Which is why I find it bizarre that people are questioning his goalscoring record.

In the last 4 seasons Morata has played 4027 minutes in La Liga/Serie A for Real Madrid and Juventus the equivalent of just under 45 games and has scored 28 goals and got 14 assists so he averages a goal or assist every 96 minutes

And in the last 4 seasons in the Champions League for Real Madrid and Juventus he has played 2063 minutes the equivalent of around 23 games and has scored 12 goals and got 5 assists so averages a goal of assist in the CL every 121 minutes

When this guy finally gets given the chance to play regularly people who don't know already will then find out what the hype is about.
