Matic's goal was something right out the top drawer, my jaw was on the floor when that went in.

As good as Matteo's screamer against Boro in the final almost 20 years ago wasn't it & possibly better since it was against spuds after all.

Man for man they are better in general not just yesterday. Certainly closer than in previous years. Yes they were superior and unlucky not to lose.

Tibo/Lloris - Nothing in it
Walker better than Moses
Rose better than alonso
Vertongen, Alderwiereld, Dier is as good if not better than Luiz, Azpi, Ake.
Wanyama and Demeble battered Kante and Matic (although I love Kante and felt sorry for him)
Eriksen and Willian very similar level.
Alli and Pedo, youd take Alli.
Kane over Costa.

Rose was playing? When did he come on?
The reality is Spurs are a good side and in form. This season we have played them 3 times and beaten them twice. Ergo we are a good side.

The positive for me was ake. He was excellent and could be a permant member of the team now. Probably will be next season.

Batman actually holds the ball up better than costa, possibly has a better first touch but never looks likely to actually score himself. If we had the luxury of an assistant striker there would be a place for him.

This was a great win but meaningless if we don't do the job in the league. Matic showed how valuable an outside shooter is against a packed defense.

Surprised none of you picked up on the post on their forum saying they hope all our players died in a bus crash on the way back.

If someone said that on here they'd be rightly castigated by everyone.

Jesus, i guess i haven't got to that comment yet! I'm making my way backwards through their match day thread, absolute meltdown from their fans. If i see one more Spurs fan mention the 'footballing gods'

I think your missing the point from Jenas. Chelsea did defend very well but Spurs was the more offensive team. Spurs had more possession but that happens when Chelsea are a counter attacking team and you have to be with Matic and Kante in the same team. What Jenas was saying is apart from the first 15mins Chelsea was on the back foot for the majority of the game which is the way I saw it. Go by the match thread at the time and it seems like it was too but of course a win changes all that ;)

What Jenas is saying is that Chelsea didn't create anything from open play which is true really. A free kick, pen, maybe the corner and regarding Matics goal he is saying that's the kind of wounder goal Matic will never score again and Spurs could do nothing about. TBH it summed up the match when he was awful and then scored that goal. I get what his saying because Chelsea in the past have not done alot in cup games and big league games but Drogba would pull one out the bag from no where.

Costa beating the Spurs players back into the tunnel.

Ernie, you really DO like to find the negatives about Chelsea, don't you?  We beat Spuds!  At Wembley! 4-2!  What f**king more could you want?

Its not just about dominating possesion. We didnt just decide to sit back and concede possesion like is being said. We tried to press, and tried to play. But couldnt. We didnt play a Counter attacking game. We were just outbattled for the majority of the game. I am calling it as I see it. Happy with the result, hoping with a summer spree next year is different. But please dont tell me Spurs deserved to lose that game in 90 mins.

....................another load of negative whining.

Spurs was the more offensive team, they created two  one excellent goal from open play and one lucky glancing header from a corner which I'm not sure Chelsea could do ......................and then some very surprising and totally out of character positive comment.

I fixed the bit about the Spuds goals for you. We scored a world-class free kick against what people in here have been calling the best keeper in the league and statistically the best defence this season, a penalty, a very good goal from Hazard and and a world-class strike from Matic, so I'm not sure why you would say "which I'm not sure Chelsea could do".  Anyway, I think the last bit in your quote was the only pro-chelsea comment I have ever seen you make in here.

I saw that but have now stopped reading the stuff in there.

Some really sad people on their site

Spurs to lose all their remaining fixtures and crash out of the top four, anyone? Massive psychological damage inflicted by us.

I'm going to have a nice lunchtime today, reading all about our victory and talking points on the Guardian, BBC and Telegraph websites.

And this bit from the Spuds forum...

"But ultimately the football Gods were against us as exemplified in the backward spinning ball, they changed the laws of physics for a split second"

:laugh2:

I really liked seeing a different starting line up!  Just seeing Ake and Michy on the pitch for us was refreshing.  It's the same kind of strategy I wanted against United but anyways - It was just great to see.  Matic made my day and happy to finish the season 2-1 head to head against Spuds, 2-1 against united, 2-0, against City, and i hope we do a 2-1 over Arsenal as well.

Come Chelsea

Of course they are sad, both this season and last they have missed opportunities to win major silverware, even the pundits who were previously gloating on them are now questioning if they have the winning mentality in BIG games. They know the other big clubs who have been going through transitional periods will be coming back into the title race next season. On top of that they still can't reach an FA cup final, quarter of a century with no FA cup final, remember what it felt like when we went 24 years between FA finals ?

Yeah i can see why they are pissed off.

Great init !

I loved how Frank and Shearer schooled Jennas in the post match review, the Spurs dominated the match but unlucky to lose theory. Frank just nailed it - I'd be upset losing 2:4, only a Spurs C* talk up a 2:4. We should have won more, Costa missed another sitter in the dying minute.

Someone on the fighting Cock forum has actually complained to the BBC about Lamps PMSL.

If the over sensitive Spurs cry baby, finds this offensive and worthy of trying to ruin someone's employment, maybe he could be time travelled back to a Saturday afternoon in the 70's and 80's and experience some real offensive behaviour. How pathetic it is today.

Who is the other fella? I mean you have lineker, shearer and Lampard, three of the England's great players, and then . . . . that bloke

I'm sorry but in what universe is Kyle Walker better than anyone?!

If he didn't have speed he'd have nothing at all.

In fact the only thing he's ever given to the world is that brilliant clip of being sat on his arse by Mata.

I'd also always take Costa over that White Harvey Price lookalike they put up top any day of the week.

An absolute classic sketch. I've got the DVD of 'The Day Today' Steve Coogan, Chris Morris and host of other people who went on to become very well known. The 'Eastenders sketch performed in a Bureau De Change in Wardorur St is another classic.LOL.

Funny you should mention that series on this thread. Someone has made a video of Matic's goal with Alan Partridge's commentary from that series overdubbed on it. I'll try and find it.

Watched a recording of the game this afternoon. Was too pissed (must have been all the Jura I drank) to watch it on Saturday night after arriving home from the match and was busy yesterday (including a trip to the pub). Was great to see all our goals again. Roll on the final. Hope to give my Arsenal supporting brother-in-law some stick.

A clip of our fans at the Green Man. @Beerqueenand @yorkleyblue I think you posted that you were at the Green Man.
