Strong rumours from reliable sources saying Rudiger is set to leave Chelsea.

Sad news if true, we got a taste on Wednesday of life without Rudiger.

Levi Colwill can replace Christensen but we will need a proper replacement for Toni.

I suppose both rudi and Andreas should not be the starting lineup for any of our remaining matches, As their minds are elsewhere.

I think one has the mental aptitude to still perform professionally while the other one doesn’t though. You can guess at which is which.

According to Matt Law; we matched his last demands by offering over £200k/w (ridiculous IMO), but his agent wanted a £10m signing  on fees, plus agent fees of around £10m, and a salary exceeding £200k/w?

So should the club have met these ridiculous demands? I say good riddance.

 

 

Goes to show that the love of the fans, the manager and the whole club in general will never be worth more than modern footballer greed.

Like with AC if he decides to go then good luck to him. Team needs a rebuild anyway as Jorgi is off either this summer or the next and the Kante Era is coming to an end, at least as a starter for the majority of games.

We have young players we HAVE to integrate, like Gallagher, Colwill and Broja. Also ones like Gilmour than need to be decided up and ones we could buy back like Livramento.

I don’t know, I still rate Rudiger higher than Christensen.

Not surprised to be honest. Sounds like he's bound for Real Madrid.

To a large extent I agree with this sentiment. We have though now got the problem of finding two CB’s, who won’t come cheap unless we skimp. We can’t sign players ourselves who have come available on a Bosman whilst sanctioned plus these sanctions will have a big say on our transfer budget and being able to adhere to FFP. This has been an almighty cock up at boardroom level and may just influence our decisions on contract renewals and retentions in future.

Billy can have Jorginho’s place but only if he’s worked on his pointing skills at Norwich. Between Jorgi & Lukaku we’re all fingers and thumbs!

Big jump going from the championship to champions league matches. I agree he’s one to watch but we’re not replacing Rudiger with a 19 year old with 30 professional matches.

My thinking was that we could replace Christensen with Colwill and replace Rudi with a more experienced defender.

He has had 2 great seasons, preceded by mediocrity. He will certainly be missed as a character, leader and player - but frankly, if he doesnt want to play for us anymore, then good riddance.

Our defence has consistently struggled in a 4 over the last few years. Rudi is part of that problem. We should look at this as a fantastic opportunity to rebuild our defence in a way that CAN play in a 4, which will free up a player for further up the pitch.

He’s also a kid. As good as he might be in the future, he has yet to play any minutes in the Premier League. It’s unfair to pile expectations on him at this stage in his career, he needs to develop at a pace suitable to him.

A defender (who isn't the club captain) wanting more than Salah earns. Ridiculous. I'll take Kounde for less wages, a potential decade of service, and resale value thanks.

Either way we need 2 new CBs imo and that includes getting Colwill back. Kounde looks to be one we’ll look at but who’d be the other? If we had a buy back clause for Guehi he would definitely be someone I’d look at but from what I’ve read we only have a first option to match a bid.

The other option which I really don’t think is a good idea, is looking at bringing in a RWB and keeping James at RCB. For me it seems a massive waste of James’ talent but Tuchel seems to like putting him there 

Well, at least we got his best years, at 29 I don’t see him becoming a Thiago Silva type who can keep it going till 40. He’s got a solid 3 years at Real Madrid and that’s if the climate and playing style suits him, we shall see. 

TT needs to sit down with Toni and AC and see of they want to play for us till the end of the season and remain committed too or want to protect themselves ahead of their moves.

If it is the latter just tell them to stay home, such attitudes would only further damage the camp.

What's the betting that if we sign Kounde he turns out to be a massive let down LOL.

I think I'd be trying to buy Guehi back in the first instance.

Quite like the idea down the tracks of a back line with Chalobah, Guehi and Colwill in it.
