I actually rate Marina in this situation. Wage structures are there for a reason

We don't actually have a wage structure though. The club pretend it does perhaps but then they broke it just six months ago to sign Lukaku on massive wages.
Not to mention handing Werner & Havertz nearly £300k a week contracts or Kepa being the second highest paid goalkeeper in the league.

You can't then turn around and expect far better and far more important players to sign for less than what the reserves are earning. This will be a problem when it comes to Mount and James and the others contracts too. You can bet your house they will ask for similar wages to Werner & Havertz, at least.

Granoviskaia have good qualities but she's got a lot to answer for in term of strategy, financials and player logistics the last few years in my opinion. We've got the second highest wage bill in the league and over the last three years we've lost over £200 million pounds and we are entirely dependant on selling players to have the funds to bring new ones in these days.

Rags reporting he increased his demands from 200k to 225k a week after receiving offers from overseas.

So Marina will off £200,000.01 which will be her final offer unless he rejects it then she will immediately return with an improved offer.

Well said.

If we actually had a Director of Football, I'd bet good money they would have been fired for their transfer and contract negotiation "performance" from 2017 to date ... and the DoF would be taking the scouting department with them ... :-)

We actually do have a wage structure. What you could argue is a part of those wages should be performance related; goals & assists for forwards, and cleans sheets for your defence. An increase in wages is part of incentivising players to move clubs because of increased competition for their services, and it isn’t limited to your underperforming Lukaku’s, Werner or Havertz. We are also paying Chiwell 2.5x his Leicester’s wages & Mendy 3x is Rennes wages.

Come renewal time just because Kepa moved for bigger wages which is connected directly with his transfer fees and competition for his services, Mendy can’t demand parity with him. The market just doesn’t work that way. A large part of the appeal for Rudiger’s services by his suitors will be the lack of transfer fees, but  there is a limit to which they will go wage wise. If the rumoured €300k/w+ wages had been offered to him by any club, you can be rest assured he would have announced his transfer.

There was zero competition for Kepa. Real was interested for a time but moved on. And let's not justify his salary just because we foolishly decided to pay £71 million for him. That's just another wrong on top of the first wrong.

And what is our wage structure if I may ask?

Not fussed if Dave goes, he’s been brilliant for us, a last hoorah on home soil, AC is for the now…

Captain and many times the best player we have.

The Athletic revealed earlier this month the Germany international is now looking for a salary in the region of £225,000-a-week to remain at Stamford Bridge.

It is understood Rudiger, who is one of the lowest paid senior players in the squad right now on £90,000-a-week, had already made up his mind to leave earlier in the campaign. The 28-year-old had been offered around £140,000 to stay in August with the warning the offer wouldn’t get any better than that and he was upset by their stance.

Talks stopped for months until Chelsea reached out in late December to reach a new agreement. There is a bit more positivity on both sides that something could still be finalised but Rudiger feels the hold-up so far has been caused by the club.

After being asked what it will take for him to stay, the centre half told The Athletic: “I feel great here, I have always said it. I think the way I play you can see that I’m happy here. But there are also other people who have to make decisions.”

Has been talking about wanting to win the PL title.

Guess he is off to City then lol.

Would be funny if he goes to Newcastle!

Yes, beautiful long diagonal passes, and so close to a ‘40 yards out’ goal; that would have been something , like Alex’s thunderbolt goal of years past.

Sky sports now reporting Rudi is likely off at the end of the season....

If Rüdiger had doubts about leaving, today's events may have given him a nudge. He might not be the only one trying to find a new employer with a better life expectancy than Chelsea's.

Probably for the best when Marina does leave, as this deal (especially if he ends up at United) will come back to bite and it could have all been wrapped up before the storm. We’ll look back on this one and it will hurt, disasterclass from the board.

Utd are in a real mess and so far away from competing. The only reason any quality player will be going there presently will be for money. They don’t even have a manager.
