Not many 17 year olds though.

If you look at some bigger names you will realise they were playing first team football from that age at their original clubs e.g. in Croatia. If they have the talent they play

If your'e good enough, your'e old enough, and he looked old enough last night, mixing it with top professionals, he looks super confident.

Age is barrier we all put up, but it shouldn't be, it's the same when a player hits 30, they are considered finished.

I'm not doubting that. I never said that in my original post. I just think there's a world of difference playing 1st team football in Croatia or Portugal than in the premier league specifically, and out of the players that have played regularly at 17 in the premier league, most of them have burnt out in their late 20's.

So although it is very tempting to want ampadu and CHO given a lot of action, because I do agree they are good enough, I think it would be better for their careers if we are careful, and ease them in gradually over the next 18 months.

I think they should be part of the squad without doubt, and also think we shouldn't be buying players that will block their path into the 1st team, however talk of squeezing hazard and CHO into the first team is premature in my opinion.

If he won't play with us next season and get minutes then we can close the academy and let other talents success in other teams.

He is just AMAZING! That ball control, that dribbling, one vs one take, we have got a real thing here. Just imagine him playing the same amount of minutes Rashford, Alli had.

We can't accept to loan him, he must play with us, I know it's only friendly cup, but he proved himself everywhere he played.

I didn't know him, he's a real phenomenon for his age !

Naturally he must improve tactically, but he is a craque.

There are not doubts.

I'll sort you out 20 Embassy if you put him in the team boss.

He's rather good isn't he. He also looks physically ready to play, which has been a downside for a lot of the most promising youngsters we've had.

I want him in the squad, playing cup competitions (and hopefully a bit in the league). I feel like he could be an excellent substitute against a tiring team.

I agree he looks mustard but he must play to improve and will he do that not on loan

I hope so

That's my concern too. If we're using him only now and again, is that really better for his development than a full season on loan at a good team?

He’s very left footed from what I’ve seen and will compete with hazard for a starting spot. That’s tough. He does look good but like many players his age crossing us a bit hit and miss.

He's only 17 I wouldn't worry so much he looks great.

As many reports (from media and Napoli fans) have said Sarri likes to have a small core of players he always uses so he is not a coach who likes to rotate. Maybe a loan deal to another prem team.. If Hazard and Willian leave we just might have a use for him this season.

If he is good, he will stay. If he is not, he won't. Remind me the last player from our academy that was not given a chance and then succeeded? I mean even in a mediocre club, they can't reach that level. Mceachran, Kakuta, Stoch, Cork - where are they now?

People must stop exaggerating and getting excited by any skill or fint showed in pre season.

He seems more talented than the ones I mentioned above, that's why I want him to stay this season and fight Pedro for first substitution but these allegations and requests for public executions... damn. We don't have even one player from the academy to have success in any other team.

Just chill.

The youth promotion system at the club fails because we don't commit ourselves to backing them when they reach the top tier. We put them on the bench for a few months, give them a few minutes here and there, but never fully commit to them.

What we should be doing is bringing through 2-3 or more at a time, each season, let them infuse into the squad together, much less daunting, more familiar players around them.

Language barrier possibly, might mean "play in the Premier League" as in being picked regularly, which they probably wouldn't.

But we've got Europea League this season and the early group stages would be great games to give Hudson-Odoi a run out.

I don't think anyone is expecting him to be in our first 11 in most games.

However we have 6 Europa League group games and the same number or more of domestic cup games over the season.

So at the least that's around 12 or so games he could realistically be taking part in which for me is a good amount for a promising youth player and would benefit him much more than going out on loan.

I know Sarri doesn't rotate much but the intensity of the EPL is miles away from Seria A and he will have no choice but to rotate in certain competition otherwise the first 11 will burn out.

He will get 0 mins in the Prem and perhaps a 20 min cameo in Europa, if we keep him at all.

I disagree, at least about Europa, I could see him featuring more in that competition, especially if he keeps playing the way he has this preseason. However, I completely understand why you'd think that given our past history with younger talent. Here is to hoping you are wrong regarding him and he proves himself to be a great asset going forward. :tHumBsBeeR::drinks:

Maybe, in the case of most, is because they just never stepped up to the required level?

In all these years not one has stepped up to the required level, not one, why ? It's either A: we selected the wrong youngsters in the first place, or B: were not getting the best out of them and our academy has failed.

We cannot have a scenario where all the youngsters are never good enough, and it's down to them they all failed.

I get your point, but we have one of the best academies in the world. It's unacceptable when we can't promote a youngster to our starting lineup, we don't really have faith in them.

We rather buy players and block the youth. Drinkwater's transfer for example. I still believe Chalobah could success with us, but Conte gave up on him.

CHO seems like a big talent, we have to give him a proper chance to prove himself. With our system I don't think Rashford or Alli could play, we block the youth.

Even if he will fail which I believe not, we at least tried our best, gave the kid a chance to play for the club he played all his young years.
