Inter need another goal, I wouldn't be surprised if Spurs score against Barca reserves.

You jinxed it

Do we want Tottenham in the Europa with us? Would be bad if we face them in the knockouts but probably good for our top 4 hopes.

I would rather not personally. I see enough of these teams in the league. I like to see us playing other European teams and the English teams will know more about us than the rest of Europe.

Rare night where I wasn't fussed about Spurs and Liverpool getting the result they needed. Would have possibly made Europa league harder to win if we'd faced them in the el...english ties are so difficult.

Only problem is Spurs are going to get ridiculous ott credit for going through with eight points, having drawn against a second string Barca side going through the motions and saving their legs for the weekend.

Well Inter and Barcelona [reserves] have just confirmed themselves as utterly worthless teams. They should be stripped of whatever European titles they have for permitting this mishap.

Fair play to Liverpool though - thoroughly outplayed Napoli from start to finish. Ancelotti's rubbish 4-4-2 reminded me a little bit of that 'Ramires-Essien-Lampard-Malouda in front of Torres-Drogba' experiment which worked once (and was nowhere near as good as 'Anelka in the hole').

Glad both the English teams went through. Makes both the Europa League and Premier League a bit easier for us now that we dont have to contend with them in the knockout rounds and they will have rotated squads playing league matches.

PSG topping their group after having been locked in 3rd place for about 4/6 of the time. Something tells me they might go very far this season ... As for the dippers and spuds, I hope they get Juventus and Bayern !! Manure might actually get away with an easy draw unless they get PSG ... City will surely draw against utter dross like Schalke. Or they'll get a huge surprise in the name of Atlético Madrid haha!!

In saying all this, the last few hours have been totally cringe as deluded Spurs fans celebrate like they got a result like ours at the nou camp in 2012, while Liverpool crow they're definitely winning a trophy this year and wax lyrical about a save alisson made when a Napoli player hits the ball right at him.

can only hope they both get the reality check they deserve soon enough

Good. Liverpool and Spuds bigger threats than Napoli and Inter. they will also get distracted in CL more than EL friendly boring-ass matches. Sarri will know how to deal with these italians teams. they are good at times, but limited. A lot of chances missed yesterday by Napoli which is a team that knows how to play football but doesn't have the quality to deliver end product. that's why they've never won anything.  Nothing really dangerous came out of CL group stage. It is still between us and Arsenal. And we all know it's up to us to whether we win it or not, not to Arsenal.

Saying that, the enormous amount of space Napoli left between the midfield and defence was probably a hangover from Sarri... ;)

Some might also say the way we played at Wolves, not killing the game off, is a hangover from Conte.

The pros are the longer Liverpool and Spuds are in the CL then the more chance of us making some progress in the league as they will need to rest big players for the knockout games.

Everything else is cons though, no denying it.

Liverpool MUST not win the league and Spuds MUST not win a trophy. If those two things are achieved then happy days (With a Chelsea cup win of course!)

Steve McManaman talking absolute sh*t.

Van Dijk goes through Mertens studs up right through his leg and says nothing wrong with it “that’s football”

2 counts of incredibly luck here...

1. Van Dijk should have been sent off
2. Mertens is lucky that his leg didn't break. It bent, but didn't break, luckily his cleat broke from the turf and didn't hold.

Typically though there was nothing in the media about this challenge. 10 years ago this was possibly a yellow, but this season in the PL 95% of these challenges have resulted in a red card, and was definitely a red in this case.
