"He's got that natural gift of being able to heal quicker than other players." Kevin De Bruyne will be back sooner than expected, it seems...

A Pep player magically returning from a long injury layoff way sooner than expected? His spanish doctor must be a real wizard.

Really wish we bought Virgil Van Dijk when he was available.

For me he's the best CB in the league by a distance and has transformed Liverpool defensivly. They'll be hard to beat this season.

I wonder what PED Guardiola did to change that

Thibault winning the best GK has to be a bad joke.

It doesn't really make any sense. How does he win that and not make the FIFPro XI ? Surely if they name him the best goalkeeper of the year then he should be in the team of the year too :huh2:

I honestly don't see how Salah's goal was the best either. Bale's goal in the Champions League final didn't win Champions League goal of the tournament or goal of the year.......how is that even possible? I haven't seen a better goal in any final in my whole life. I think they gave it to Salah out of sympathy because he didn't make the team of the year.

Oh well, at least Kante and Hazard got into the FIFPro XI.

Apparently it was a fan vote. AKA worthless.

I got a breaking news notification this morning that previewed "Breaking News: Mourinho de..."

I was convinced it was going to say "departs Manchester United" but it said "denies Pogba row".

It got me thinking. Would you want him to get sacked now and deemed a failure or to continue this circus but possibly turning it around and finding some sort of success in the future?

To save anyone else having to click through it all their XI is

Allison

Dave - Gomez - VVD - Robertson

Jorginho - Kante - Hazard

Sane - Firminho - Salah

Robertson is described as a better all round player than Alonso at left back and Joe Gomez is apparently in good form and would be pick ahead of any Chelsea centre back. I'd probably swap those two out for Rudiger and Alonso.

I'd swap Sane for Kieta with a front three of Salah, Firminho, Hazard.

If Pogba was for sale for say 50 million, would we want him at Chelsea?

why? I rather give RLC Barkley & Drinkwater a chance then to take one on Pogba + we don't need more distractions in the Locker room

Purely theoretically I assume?

He would fit in to the 4-3-3 as the most attacking central midfielder. Problem is, he can be lax with his defensive duties so Kante/Kovacic will have to spend more time covering him and less time going forward, making Pogba the sole attacking centre midfield outlet most of the time. Another problem is that Pogba is a little selfish so he won't contribute to the team's play like the three players @robdog mentioned, instead being more likely to go for the glorious long shot/finish - he also doesn't handle things all that well when the team's in a bad situation. Kovacic is also a superior short passer and so can keep possession better. On the other hand, he's strong, athletic, his passing is pretty good, his technique is impressive and he has a rasping long shot. If Sarri can wrap his arm around his shoulder, he might buy into Chelsea's project and start acting like more of a team player than a diva.

I'll put it this way, if Sarri wants him I trust Sarri, but I would lean towards no. His overall quality is not in doubt but you don't really know how well he'll fit into the side or the team's social dynamic.

Owners of London Stadium have spent £4m of taxpayers' money in legal fees in the past three years over disputes with tenants West Ham.

The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) has been in dispute with the Hammers over several aspects of its 99-year lease.

Gerry Murphy, LLDC deputy chief executive, confirmed the costs at a London Assembly meeting.

Assembly member Caroline Pidgeon said the situation was "extraordinary".

The LLDC says high operating costs mean it loses £250,000 for every West Ham match, while the Hammers have claimed they contribute a total of £10m a year in revenue, including rent.

The stadium, built for the London Olympics in 2012, has been dogged by controversy over its finances. Converting it into a football ground cost £323m when the original estimate was £190m.

Although West Ham pay an index-linked annual rent of £2.5m as tenants, the venue is still set to lose £140m over the next 10 years.

Murphy, speaking at a meeting of the assembly's budget and performance committee, said: "Over the last three years our legal costs in relation to West Ham, by the end of this year, will be about £4m."

West Ham and the corporation have been in dispute over a number of areas, including the club's bid to increase capacity from 57,000 to 66,000. The issue is due to be heard by the High Court later this year.

They also disagreed over who should pay to make the stadium more supporter friendly, and a mutually agreed legal expert ruled in West Ham's favour.

This meant the LLDC must pay for:

  • Work to replace the material around the pitch perimeter
  • The installation of pumps to allow the sale of draught beer at all bars
  • Hospitality staff who work in the corporate boxes at the stadium
  • Ensuring all televisions at the ground are allowed to show live sport - West Ham paid for the licence but the London Stadium had adverts on some screens

LLDC chief executive Lyn Garner said the contract - which was drawn up with West Ham before she took over - was "ambiguous in places and unclear".

She told the committee: "We take professional legal advice and, where we think it is right, we have to defend the public purse."

Liberal Democrat Pidgeon said: "It's extraordinary that there are 97 years left [on the contract] and there are constantly issues."

The committee deputy chair, Labour's Len Duvall, added: "It's about time the London Legacy Development Corporation and West Ham put aside their squabbles and sort out their relationship."

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady is due to appear before the assembly's budget monitoring sub-committee on 17 October.

Of course. He’s a world class midfielder, just Mourinho is the wrong coach. Whenever he leaves United or the right manager comes to United, it won’t be long til he’s lauded as one of the world’s best midfielders.

Also he’s got a good relationship on the pitch with Kante.

I’d say no to Pogba. Too much into his self image, not much of a team player, loses the ball too often in dangerous positions.

He has talent but it only shows up now and again and would be a bigger negative than a posi5ive.

Now if we got the player Pogba thinks he is I’d be all for it.

I have also just noticed that the forum no longer seems to censor the word 'bastard'.

It's the Fall of Rome...

For f**ks sake, why do the bastards f**king censor us anyway?  It always makes me a bit sh*tting annoyed that the c**ts think that by putting a * in the middle of a word, it somehow protects everyone from the f**king shock of seeing a c**ting swear word - as though we can't f**king work out what the word is.  What is the c**ting point?

The f**king censorship ought to f**king censor any f**king inappropriate apostrophes instead - that would do us all a favour.
