Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

Featured Replies

I can't recall if Bakayoko ever got booed? Exactly the same circumstances as Jorginho. Came with a big price tag, looked very decent at first, and then performances just got worse and worse.

I don't think Jorginho is anything special at all as player, and I don't think he fits the EPL, but I can't see what booing him or any of our players achieves.

I think Jorginho is being made a scapegoat for our recent run of poor performances. Yes he has struggled at times but he is an important player in Sarri's system but it makes it harder if other players aren't working well within that system.

I guarantee if you put him in City's team he would purr alongside what they have. Booing our own player is nothing short of disgusting and lacks class.

I'm sorry but Jorginho has hardly had a bad game. He's just not set the world alight and the team as a collective have been poor. I can't think of one mistake from him on the ball that has directly led to a goal. Bakayoko made errors every game and almost never snuffed out danger.

What a pathetic thing to do to one of your own players. I was tremendously disappointed last night.
To Jorginho when he came on.
That's really embarrassing!
I don't like to see him in our starting line up but it doesn't mean i dislike him as a person or a footballer. I just feel Sarri is playing out of position in this league and it's affecting our team negatively. To boo him means we are blaming him for Sarri's incompetency. God, I really feel for him. I hope he doesn't feel depressed.

I get it venom, you rate Jorginho, I don't, and we will probably never see eye to eye on that. But has "hardly had a bad game" ? You can't be serious with how he has been performing recently?

Alan Shearer made the specific point, and provided video clip examples,  in the Man U analysis about how Jorginho doesn't read danger well and fails to close down the opposition quickly, frequently leaving our centre backs exposed. He was spot on.

Would love him to score the winner (highly unlikely I know) against City of all teams and shh our fans, didn't deserve that tonight.
Same too, would love him to score the winning goal, but still I hope Sarri doesn't play him again as the holding midfielder. I don't think he is really as bad as most of us think. I think in the Italian league, the best way to get the best from him is probably to play him in the defensive midfield position, but in England here, he looks average in that position, with his ability to keep possession, I think the best way to get the best out of him here is to play him further ahead of the defensive midfielder.
We all know he isn't a world class player, but still he is a good player being misused by the manager.
I think that many see Jorginho as an embodiment of Sarriball. Booing him is equivalent with saying fxxk you to Sarri face.
While I am frustrated with Sarri and Jorginho, but I think it is disgraceful to treat our own player like this. Only Courtois deserves this kind of treatment.
Same here. I don't like to boo any of out players, but if get the opportunity to boo Courtois, I will happily do it without feeling remorse!

Shearer's clips are on the whole quite meaningless imho. Takes a couple of seconds here or there from the whole 90 minutes and then discusses them out of context of the actual game. I tend to only watch MOTD from a recording so that I can skip their pointless analysis!

Not a Jorginho fan either btw as yet to understand exactly what he brings to the table, what makes him so undroppable or why Sarri cannot change the plan mid-game when he becomes so obviously shut down by opposing teams.

Alan Shearer is talking out of his rear in many matches I see Jorginho being in the Kante position stopping crosses cutting out passes but all everyone looks for is negative the agenda by pundits is unbelievable

Sarri was right as in we struggled to hold on the ball in the first half an hour, had the same problem or worse when Jorginho was playing in the past few months. Kovacic actually done a pretty good job in carrying the ball out as the game went on. Without Jorginho being the centre of everything, we actually looked more direct in attack, and got the reward in the second half as the pressing became weaker.

Agree with that, I actually thought the Swedes looked dangerous in the first 20 minutes and could of been 2-0 up with clinical finishing.

If the whole team did their job pressing properly he wouldn’t look so vulnerable. He’s not there to be a defensive midfielder.

Sarri defends from the front and the sooner the players and the fans realise that the sooner we start winning games I think.

Sarri was just trying to justify his own tactics. How about getting Kovacic and Kante to switch positions even for a few minutes if we are not holding the ball, or even just doing something different?  The guy should be thinking on his feet not just setting up the team at the start and saying that we were 'struggling' for a full half hour.

We were playing Malmo not Barcelona or Man City. Their players put in a good shift in the first half but were always going to either run out of energy or get caught out because they were playing against better players.

i worry about him, not because he's a bad player (which he isn't IMO, regardless of his relative struggles), but because he doesn't seem to gel with Kante, and "Getting the best out of Kante" will be one of the things the next fella says at his first press conference.

To be fair, from where I was sat, Kante was playing pretty defensively. Him and Kovacic seemed to be playing at the base of midfield. Kante just would happen to burst forward more when required.

Also, he's never going to put Kante as the base midfielder in a 3. He's pretty firm on that. I don't completely disagree - especially considering Kante is 100% going to create more chances than Kovacic.

And why would a winger/attacking midfielder be played in that role

Why would a CB like Luiz play in central midfield, or Sol Campbell play as a striker against us and score yet later become a CB.

It is about having the right skill set and natural physique.

Jorginho is probably a superb technical player, he done alright until Mopo sussed him. Since then he’s a lisbility rather than an asset (I get the whole regista role) but he’s not performing that successfully, and in defense he’s usually worthless. Shame as I said above looked mustard at first.
