Another great game for the double European Champion.

Looking forward to next week. When the test will come.

Against a team you have already said we have nothing to fear.

I thought he was a bit crap in all honesty. Slowed us down too much when there was a forward pass on, took his penalty well though.

I agree, I thought Gallagher need to replace him much sooner.

Ofcourse that's totally twisting my words but i'll play along, you do realize he's won this particular fixture all 5 times he's played in it?

The latter or the former?

The 'test' that you're implying will expose him, you've literally picked a fixture that's so far done the total opposite.

Define ‘great’ please

1. of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above average.
"the article was of great interest"

"the great Italian conductor"

Suspect you'll get no answer here 😂

Highlights the ridiculousness of some doesn't it as Jorginho toyed with Spurs on every occassion last season. Watch Jorginho's next actual test be whoever we are facing when he happens to have a poor game.

Taking 2 touches before passing constantly ruins any attacking speed we have. You could see sterling, mount, havertz making sniping runs in behind defenders, only to have to come back out, and looked frustrated already.

He is an absolute liability and the biggest problem we have for our attack, and does almost nothing to defend the middle.

Gallagher came on and we instantly had more energy and fight.

His every forward pass got intercepted yesterday.. he got bullied and provided no protection to the CBs.. Yes he gives a falls sense of protection to us by ensuring we make 10 passes before passing the mid line and have great posession stats .. but cant stop a counter attack and kills any attacking move .... A great penalty taker but he is something that we definitely need to change for us to have any impetus..

I think it's a shame , he can be awesome ,have the vision and ability to make an eye of the needle pass but he can get stomped too.

I reckon he'll get run over against the spuds and we will all be on his case again.

But you just explain what is jorgi and why he is in the team. Tuchel want a controlled football, heavy possession, more importantly take as little risk as possibe. Jorgi is perfect for this, of course if you are done 3-0 in the 1st leg and you need to score 3, there is exactly 0 chance you will score 3 at bernabeu playing zzz football.

The funny thing is I wouldn't actually be against replacing him with the right player and have actually specifically name checked De Jong in that regard (who make no mistake would be another whipping boy especially if his arrival ends the pursuit of Declan Rice).

However I've never known someone who's delievered success for this club to have so many excuses made against them to play them down (even players who were genuinely poor for us most of the time like Torres and Bosingwa get some leeway due to Munich), from apparently being carried by two totally different sets of players in the same summer to apparently struggling in a fixture he's got a 100% record in (often as the lone DM infront of a back four which he apparently cannot do).

Kante was worse when it came down to that, slowed down good sequences and even intercepted a pass from Jorginho that was going towards Sterling that was making a run.

Let's complain about how Kante while being a player with more freedom can't make a single chance against a lower-end team, maybe the biggest liability in our attack, Kante made 1 progressive pass and only 5 that entered in the opposition's final third. Is Gallagher is aleady a better attacking player for us in comparison to Kante? Jorginho had the highest number of progressive passes and of the number of passes that ended up in the last third of the pitch, you can't say that about Kante.

Also we scored after our wing-back went forward, is that also the fault of Jorginho that the players in front of him simply can't create a goal? Without him we don't win this opening match but keep hating...

1) Calling out facts doesnt mean i hate the player.. i just dont this he is good enough - why is that difficult for you to understand

2) While I dont think one needs to quote stats when the flaws in his game are that apparent. But i am going to call you out because it looks like you making up stats as you go along, plus since you want to compare Kante to him let me give you some stats

-Offensive stats

Key Passes - Kante 2,  Jorgi 1      Dribbles - Kante 3, Jorgi 2      Caught on ball - Kante 2, Jorgi 3

- Defensive stats

Tackles - Kante 4, Jorgi 0  Interception Kante 2, Jorgi 0

Passing Accuracy - Kante 85%, Jorgi 83%

Apart from the penalty he had very little contribution... he slows the play down to a snails pace till the opposition is set and then you expect people to do magic everytime, its the coaches fault for putting him in a midfield 2.. he is not suited for this system simple.

Maybe its better you update you stats website - the fact is Kante plays in mid 2 bought has to carry the defensive burden of a Jorgi.. you take out Kante and we would have lost the game forget winning.

1) What facts, that we won the game because of Jorginho and that we also won it with another clean sheet while he was in the starting lineup? Oh I guess what matters is that you focus on bad takes about him while totally ignoring the rest of the squad that couldn't do better than him.

2) Kante had 1 more key pass than Jorginho and he had 3 dribbles while also 3 times being dribbled past, while playing much more loose and much forward in the pitch. With all that, Jorginho had more progressive distance with the ball in comparison to Kante and Jorginho's carries ended up double as much in the final third than of Kante.

The contribution of Jorginho, even at the sequence that led to the penalty is far greater than Kante's. Please cry about Kante more, don't focus only on Jorginho cause it makes no sense. I mean sure apart from what won us the match, Jorginho didn't do much, but then the same argument made for Kante means that he did even less!

We keep hearing that yet our record under both Frank and Tuchel with Jorgi and Kova starting together has been excellent both results and performance wise (be it in a two or a three with Mason added) especially against these type of opponents.

In the Leicester title winning season, they had 42.4% possession, so were playing the majority of the game without the ball. In that scenario, having someone like Kante to hare around the pitch breaking up play and winning back possession plays right into his skills locker.

If, though, you want to play as a possession-based side, then Kante doesn't offer enough, and it nullifies many of his strengths.

Because he is "Kante" though, a succession of managers have tried to shoe-horn him into the team.
