My childhood hero's were Kevin Keegan (in a white shirt) and Kerry Dixon.
Kerry Dixon was the best goal machine this club has had, bar none....only JFH comes close. Drogba wasnt a goal machine, just a huge game player.

That's true about Drogba, but you will be amazed about how many people have a different view about Drogba.

Drogba was without doubt the best striker this club has had, but that wasn't the question.

It depends on the criteria you’re judging them on. Costa was the better out and out goal scorer if that’s what you’re getting at but he also disappeared for half a season every year.
If I have both of them in there prime in my team, Costa will be my first choice striker as he is far more clinical than Drogba. But Drogba will start against the big teams and cup finals over Costa because Drogba always deliver in big games.

I’d take that over someone who only banged them in against the smaller teams or a Morata who couldn’t hit a barn door :laugh2:

You should be put on the rack then hung and quartered for uttering the word Morata in the same sentence as (disrespecting) King Kerry.

Drogs by a country mile, i can't think of anything costa could do that Drogs couldn't?, and proper monstered him for Aerial dominance
Pace
Power
Left and Right foot
Heading
Skill
He beats him on all the above, plus he never sh*t on us.
Despite all the advantages accorded to Drogba here, put him in the same team with Costa and Costa will outscore him over a season. Drogba is a legend for his commitment and for what he helped us to achieve, but as a striker, Costa is more clinical!

Rubbish, When drugs scored 29 and he won the Golden boot twice as well, that's more than Costa, and who is to say in those seasons Costa scored 20? that that team wouldn't of created more for Drogba

Even if the sentence is ‘Alvaro Morata wishes he was fit to lace Kerry’s boots but he’d probably even manage to f**k that up’?

Costa had a good 3 or 4 year spell, he was late to reach the top like Drogba, but Drogba continued to be a world class striker well into his 30's, I'm not sure Costa will do the same.

Personally I don't think Costa is even in the same league as Drogba.

I don't think, I know. Drogba's shadow was better than Costa.

Here is a hypothetical thought, as if they all aren't, how good would Torres of been if we'd got him before he signed for loserpool

Not sure how he'd slot into that team, if we tried to shaft him onto the wing like Anelka you can only imagine the sulking.

Zola.

Many would have you believe Hazard is the best player, skill wise, we have ever had and back it up with things like he has more honours than franco did.

In terms of trophies won and pace Eden has him beat, in terms of everything else, left foot, right foot, corners, free kicks, headers, goals, leadership, personality, pure skill and creativity I would have 37 year old franco over him every day of the week.

Him playing off prime Drogba with JT leading from the back and Lamps banging in his quota. Ah dream team stuff.

As a footballer Zola was above Hazard, as stated above Zola provided more all round play. The best example I can give, Franco wasn't the quickest but even in his mid 30's he could still dominat a game, when Hazard's pace has gone and he can't get away from defenders like he does now, will he be like Franco was in his last season or so with us?

As favourite players go there is only one King Kerry, the days when Chelsea were Chelsea on and off the pitch.

Great forward, however in terms of likeability blotted his copybook slightly with wanting away a couple of times post season, and his tendency to go to ground, sometimes embarrassingly.

Costa was never in the same Class as the Drog.

How the hell did I miss this thread?  Or did I?

Charlie  Cooke or Hutch?  Can't decide.  Wanted to be the best winger in the world, but also wanted the best long throw in the world.

Would love to have seen the "Bonnie Prince" play on the carpet like pitches of today. His skills and passing were sublime.

Didn’t know Sam Hutchinson made that much of an impact while he was here...

It’s a tough one, but Zola is definitely the player that has given me the most pleasure. Such a great personality and just a genius of a player. A proper number 10 in the Maradona mould (from whom he must have learned a lot at Napoli), with sublime skill, amazing goals and perhaps most importantly - that touch of unpredictability (genius again, I guess) that you don’t get so much of in today’s game sadly.
