July 21, 20187 yr My only involves players in my time from the early 80's, over time the list has changed, young idols overtaken by World class players who were in turn overtaken by English World class players. 1. John Terry - Legend #1 2. Frank Lampard - Legend #2 3. Kerry Dixon - The player where it all began for me, looked like me with fair hair and freckles, so he was my idol as a teen. 4. Ruud Gullit - The first World class player we had. 3. Gianfranco Zola - What is there to say about this very special player ?
July 22, 20187 yr As someone said earlier Osgood without question had he not broken his leg he without doubt would have gone on to even greater things. Also from the era Charlie Cooke and Alan Hudson. Had they played in the modern era and been afforded the sort of protection skilful players now receive them too would have become icons
July 22, 20187 yr Young me.....Osgood Young man me.....Nevin Respectable adult me.....Zola Sensible middle aged me.....Drogba One foot in the grave me.....Hazard.
July 22, 20187 yr I'd have to insert Wilkins (Ray, not Graham) before Nevin, and JT instead of Drogba.
July 22, 20187 yr I just think about which previous Chelsea player could we do with now, and I will always go with Lampard purely because of what he offers us in offence.
July 22, 20187 yr Author 22 hours ago, Osgood is Good said: He learned from one of the best.........Chopper The innocent look on Chopper Harris' face after he had just left another "victim" in a heap on the floor, was a sight to behold. That butter wouldn’t melt look. In terms of heroes, can just remember the last days of Osgood- funny how people turned on him a little when he got shipped out to Southampton “ Osgood was good now he’s no good.” Ray Wilkins, Jock Finnistone ( briefly), man mountain Micky Droy ( I think he wasn’t far off international standard and pretty much never lost an aerial dual even against the likes of Joe Jordan) As mentioned by others the spine of our great team of recent years was awesome.
July 22, 20187 yr Wouldn't say he's my favourite ever player but most underrated definitely John Bumstead never had a bad game.
July 22, 20187 yr Too many to just pick one from the usual suspects. Special mention to Eidur our adopted cockney and Marcel our World Cup winning rock.
July 22, 20187 yr It's very close but my favourite ever player is Lampard, followed closely by Zola. Edited July 22, 20187 yr by Malcolm9
July 22, 20187 yr Womb me - Charlie Cooke Young me.....Ray (Butch) Wilkins Young man me.....Kerry Dixon Lairy, Chip on the Shoulder me - Dennis Wise Respectable adult me.....Zola Sensible middle aged me.....Drogba One foot in the grave me.....Hazard.
July 24, 20187 yr 70s Ray Wilkins 80s Pat Nevin 90s Gianfranco Zola 00s Zola/ Arjen Robben 10s Juan Mata/Eden Hazard Honourable mentions to Clive Walker, Mike Fillery, Damien Duff, JT, Lamps, Carlo Cudicini, Cech, Drogs and David Luiz.
July 24, 20187 yr Vialli, Zola - for the early (for me in England) years; there was no other team I could possibly support when I came to England in 96 with Chelsea being what they were back then Drogba for 2012 Ramires for that goal against Barsa - dunno why, just stands out for me as the most wonderful football moment
July 24, 20187 yr MY top 2, then a lot of other greats in my time of watching. Lampard then Zola Gudjohnsen, Wise, Terry, Desailly, Robbie D (even before he won us the CL, Steve Clarke (Scottish and wasn't Craig Burley), Robben, Essien, Maka, Cech, Dave, Hazard, Ballack, Gullit, Vialli, Hughes, Drogba, Crespo.
July 24, 20187 yr a slightly left field one, but I always liked Ed de Hoey I think it was the dodgy tasche
