I agree with all that, neither ake or Zaha improve our first 15/16 at all, they certainly dont get near the first 11. Would be a complete waste of time.

Zaha would defiantly start come on, deffo not every week but he would start he offers something in attack no denying that but sure not enough to flush 80 mil. He is a 40-50 mil player in a good day. Ake is a squad player, pointless but zaha isn’t that he does bring something, when he is on it he is hard to stop, no one has seen what he can do with good players around him

"I'm of the opinion that you'd be surprised by how well Zaha does if we did get him.

However £80m and 200k a week is far too much and I'm glad we're walking away if that's what it will take to get him."

If he's not worth spending 80/200 for, he's probably not worth being a starting attacker for us.

Its not as straight forward as that.

Examples would be Damien Duff (who's stats at Blackburn were similar to Zaha at Palace incidentally) or Joe Cole, both at their best good enough to start for us but were they worth the wages the old guard were on? Absolutely not.

Tbf both duff and cole were young enough, that the club wouldve expected natural improvement during the time they were here, and it was before the days of FFP.

Zaha is at the age, where he is pretty much the finished article.

They also cost not much really when you consider what Roman was investing at that time.

Zaha has an opportunity cost. It means we're less likely to be able to purchase a Sancho etc. who will actually improve us in the summer.

Fair enough re Cole but irrc Duff was his mid 20s which isn't far off what Zaha is now.

My answer is still a big fat No...doesn't impress me one bit.  I'd take Almiron from Newcastle before Zaha, although he's a bit lightweight and needs to put a few more in the net, at least he would likely be a 1/3 of the price.

I don't think he's any better than wdhat we have, he flatters to deceive most of the time, spends most of the time stopping attacks by f**king about in possession, loses possession far too much and almost never tries to re over a lost ball. I think he would be a dreadful signing.

Watching this Palace / Arsenal game he is absolutely woeful so far...why are we wasting time looking at him is beyond me.

TBH he doesn't want to be there, so not gonna have his heart in it is he? Not that I want him mind.

for the 76 mins I've watched he's been totally pants...and if he doesn't want to be there, why is he playing? either that or  he should be putting in a shift for potential buyers. Playing like this he'll be there when Palace eventually get relegated.

I’m not for signing him but he would start games he isn’t necessarily better than what we have but he brings something a bit different

But we have seen exactly that when he was up at the theatre of sh*te.  He was surrounded by a fairly decent united squad and he was rubbish.

Such an overrated player, I have never understood why there is so much hype around him all the time. He';s at his peak, he's not 20 any more. This is as good as he'll ever be and that's pretty average.

Over rated at what though? hes good at what he does, proven by statistics. One of the best dribblers in europe, take ons are very high, can be any defender one vs one, wins penalties, creates chances. His goal record is also pretty decent considering the standard of team he plays for and how defensive they are. I get people might not want him at £80M etc and his reported wage demands, but people on here make him seem like he's Jesse Lingard level.

Because he doesn't play like that every week.

Agree totally, and i was under the impression that being a huge Arsenal fan he only wanted to play for Arsenal....until they didn't want him, now he's up for anyone.

This is Palace's only asset so they are still trying to cash in for as much as possible. What has this bloke done in, say, five years to warrant a price in excess of £40m in this market (and that is being generous. Another flake.

And they bought Pepe instead who isnt as good. I recently read Trent Alexander Arnold saying Zaha was the toughest player he's faced, James Milner said the same thing.

I personally think if it wasn't for Jadon Sancho being available and a possibility of joining is the summer we would be all over Zaha right now.

Players have bad games. Zaha usually terrorizes Arsenal. Whether it as the Emirates or Palace, he causes them nightmares. He was not at his best today but like I say, he usually torments Arsenal.

Rumour has died down big time.  Think we may well have moved on

I think that's a good thing. At his age and with his ceiling we'd be silly to pay that much, particularly given Sancho could well be a target in six months time.
