Charity Shield: Chelsea vs Manchester City Sunday 5th August 3pm UK

Piss poor. Very little pressing, very little pace and no chances created. I don't care if we have a new manager, a new system, a new whatever...the players are not showing the desire I demand from the team

We haven't outclassed City over 90mins since 2008 when they had Robinho. Incredible. The only top team.that treat us like boys.

They haven't outclassed us every time either though, we have tactically outclassed them many times in the last 10 years. They may have kept the ball better than us, but we have still been the more successful club in the last decade.

If we perform like this against Huddersfield in 6 days they beat us. City haven't really been out of second gear today.

No. Regular PL matches remain with NBCSports and affiliates on regular TV (NBC and CNBC) as in prior years with a few matches on the NBC Sports Gold app ($49 annually).

The FA Community Shield is through the FA rights agreement and so far, there has not been a U.S. taker since the agreement with Fox Sports expired at the end of last season. The FA sold the Community Shield as a one off to ESPN+ while negotiations continue for the FA Cup contract. It appears the FA Cup will likely be with either ESPN+ or B/R Live (Bleacher Report - TBS' new streaming partner). Both are pay subscriptions. B/R Live will have the Champions and Europa League for several years so they may have the FA Cup too. It is $79 annually for all football matches. It is looking doubtful you will see many if any FA Cup matches on regular TV in the U.S. for the next few years. I would not be surprised to see the PL go this same direction in the U.S. in a few years, too. Hope this helps.

Come on you Chelsea!!

Much appreciated. However, we are not looking good as a team so far. Zero threat against City! Not a good omen at all.

Your right there :laugh2:

We are lucky we aren't losing by five.

Luiz-Alonso on left side in defence in 433 isn't much better defensivly then what you would see in relegation sides.

Clearly looks like this will take time

It sure will mate and thats ok......but when we are so inept regarding trasnfers, you are severely handicaping.

Embarrassing performance, expected to lose today but i cannot accept the total lack of desire, effort and the way these players have treated this game. I thought some were out to impress the manager today, the only thing they managed is to get Sarri worried on the sh*te team he has at his disposal. Huge work for Sarri and long season for us.

If these are our 4 starters in defense during the season.. they were all awful. Hard to choose between Luiz, Dave and Alonso. Rudiger was the least awful, but the way he went to cover Fodden for the first goal, leaving space for Aguero, was also impessively silly.

I know it's not our first 11 out there but our failure to create anything going forward is the biggest worry.

I agree. I don't think the "it's only a friendly and it's early" excuse is enough either. We still need to be showing something and have something we can say worked well.....but i honestly can't think of anything positive we can take away from this game. I know we have Kante and Hazard to return, but they aren't going to be up to speed until mid September. Even at this point in the season, we have made it too easy for City. I can't remember the last time i seen a team have so many clear chances to score against us, we could be 7 or 8 down. At any level, that should be a concern.

Going to be a tough season, while they try and get used to what Sarri wants, but the early signs are worrying.

We simply don't have the personal to play a high-line back 4.

We lack pace and energy in midfield without Kante, Jorginho makes Fabregas look like Usain Bolt.

Hopefully things will improve tactically over time, our pressing from the front was poor today and City got out easily every time. But I think he's going to need some serious backing in the transfer window in Jan and next summer, if we're going to challenge for the title again.
