August 11, 20187 yr Didn’t really have much to do today but looked assured on the ball and confident enough to come and claim crosses. Bigger tests await but promising enough start.
August 11, 20187 yr Didn't have to make a save but a clean sheet is a clean sheet nonetheless. Hopefully that will settle some of the nerves and pressure.
August 11, 20187 yr Something i noticed already. When he get's the ball, sometimes he will drag it back, and ask a few defenders to come back with him, it draws the opposition closer and then he quickly passes to one of our defenders and then our defender plays it into midfield. This gives us a chance to open teams up because the opposition has thrown 4 or 5 players forward to try and force us into a mistake. I don't know if this is Sarri's tactics or something Kepa has forced into the team himself. I like it though, it's a good way to force teams out and stop them being so defensive.

August 11, 20187 yr I feel more nervous at corners and set pieces with Kepa compared to Tibo, this is more a compliment to how good Courtois is on set plays than any slight on Kepa but the corner that hit the post wouldn't have happened on the Belgiums watch. However distribution was another matter, we could pass the ball back to Kepa even under pressure and play kept on ticking over, Courtois would have panicked in half the situations Kepa was in today.

Watched Liverpool's game today and Allison who had little to do, I thought looked a little shaky, where kepa even when running towards the goal before the game looked confident, body language can say a lot.

I wasn't overly impressed with Alisson in the World Cup either. From what I saw of Eder last season I thought he should have started for Brazil.

What you describe there is pretty much Sarrisimo 101. Everyone has probably seen this by now, but thats exactly how we got our pen. Lured them into a press which opened up the entire left side

August 18, 20187 yr Thought he looked shaky today, and was pretty unconvincing at various points in the game. Hope that he can settle quickly and try to be a bit more forceful and dominant in his box. How tall is he? Looks small in the goal, maybe it is a frame issue rather than height, because to me he looks like he is stuggling a bit.
August 18, 20187 yr Probably could have done better for both goals, got something on both of them but it helps when the players in front of him don’t forget to mark/track runners.
August 19, 20187 yr I'm happy to give him time. I'm already sick of the commentators talking about him being the most expensive keeper in the world. When he let in the first one, my commentators said something like "You'd expect the most expensive keeper in the world to save that." Yeah, he should have saved it, but it's not his fault he's that expensive...and every keeper will make mistakes, no matter how good (or how expensive) they are. He'll get there.
August 19, 20187 yr Author I'm expecting moments of brilliance and some awful mistakes as the season goes on. Sort of like De Gea's first season or two. He'll take time, but in a few years he should be brilliant.
August 19, 20187 yr Wasn't great, kind expected one of those game. Good thing we won, so he's not going to get over scrutinized, I'm sure he will get over-worked in training next week. His passing was pretty good through, never got that out of Courtois or Cech. Edited August 19, 20187 yr by icecoolguy22
August 19, 20187 yr Kepa is so far a good sweeper but not very confident as a shot stopper. I think Courtois would have saved that Mhkitaryan shot although it was a good shot. Not the time to evaluate him. Probably not even the season to do so. Young boy still especially as a keeper.
