We've got a new Kepa

Featured Replies

Of all the poor performances and poor goals he's let in I don't think people can be too harsh with the Zaha one. He was poor getting off the ground but watch the goal at full speed, fast and moving a fair bit across him. I think less keepers than people think would've saved it.

Think he is just the whipping now regardless of performance.

We need a better all round keeper obviously but he wasn't bad today and made a world class save at the death.

Yea but had he saved that 1 shot...I think a lot of people would get their hopes up. It still looks like he is easy to beat, basically first shot on target can still be a goal.

It doesn't matter, he should be at the very least getting a hand to that, he's nowhere near it, that's just piss poor goalkeeping. He's been doing this all season, and as soon as that went in the tide turned, Palace got confidence.

i was just now on soccernet.com, and ESPN website, and read about the ratings of players.  This is what they wrote about Kepa:

'Can't be blamed for Wilfried Zaha's fine goal, which rocketed into the top corner.'

WTF?  The shot was near the crossbar, but it was certainly in the middle of the goal, and nowhere near the left or right corner of the goal.  Something tells me that the reviewer did not watch the match.

Not surprising, ESPN has horrible coverage on their FC platform. Ignorance all around, no work put into their journalism or opinions.

As an American, I wouldn't listen to those guys at ESPN.

I think the reason quite a few people questioned him for that goal was that shot stopping is supposed to be a strength of his, its somewhat expected he will struggle with crosses and commanding his box but when he doesn't get close to a shot which wasn't unreachable people will question him.

Schmeichel dealt with a similar shot today from Tierney under heavy downpour and caught the ball and immediately set Vardy off on a counter, I think Kepa made that look better than the shot actually was.

Think the best option w Kepa is a loan back to la liga for a confidence boost and for him to try and regain his form,  this protects the Clubs investment albeit he may have his wages subsidized as I imagine he’s on a pretty good wedge

If he gets back to looking near a top keeper bring him back, if not cut the losses with a nominal fee. Shocking keeper nearly all other clubs no 1s are proven better this season, poor form indeed.

The very telling stat is the goals he lets in per shots on goal. Simply does not make enough saves!

Got to be replaced for next season!

Is Kepa a top 3 keeper? top 5? top 10?

Probably somewhere in the bottom 10.

Chelsea need better keeper next season.

I wonder who from the technical staff scouted him and was so impressed that they were prepared to to sign him for a record fee.

The most expensive goalkeeper.

Kepa's save percentage in the PL is only 58%, but Willie's is even worse at 50% ... we need a better #1 AND also a better #2 for me ... Willie would be fine as #3 ...

To be honest Stevie Wonder would be better at No 1 at the moment

I just checked my old maths books and as I fully expected a rectangle has 4 corners, not 5...amazing eh....maybe I`ll send ESPN a copy of my books..

Just sign Bulka back or take Areola for a year on loan until we can afford someone decent.

Sell Kepa to Valencia and buy Gianluigi Donnarumma before AC Milan is really back on track.

Hopefully he has been better scouted than Kepa back then if we actually would be interested in him.

I heard from my Italian friends that Donnarumma also isn't the most secure goalkeeper.

I don't watch Serie A enough to know him myself through and through, but did see several articles of errors passing by in the past.

I am more a bundesliga, pro league and premier league watcher.

Yea but he's still a 6'4 21 y/o so IMO he's already better than Kepa.

Didn't realise he actually made a save at the end of the game to tip the header onto the post. Credit where it is due, saved us from dropping two more points.

Donnaruma woulda tipped it around the post not onto it so I'd say its yet another kepa mistake.

Don't be silly, Donnarumma would've caught it then set Tammy up on the counter.
