October 6, 20223 yr Didn't he give Havertz a pep talk in the WestHam game before he came on and scored the match winner? Leadership and future manager, sign him up 😁

October 6, 20223 yr I would say he has being fantastic recently and full of confidence. Very assured even coming out to catch corners plus instructing players for the defensive approach. He deserves to be first choice atm. Long may it continue.

October 8, 20223 yr Whatever his long term future, this run of games is well needed, both in terms of the current team, and his value/profile/re-sale. There is no doubt that Mendy has been on a downward trajectory for some time, and Kepa coming in, performing well and keeping cleansheets is a welcome, and if we are being honest, an unexpected bonus opportunity to salvage his Chelsea career. I think it is unlikely that he will be the answer in the longer term, but for the immediate, he is a breath of fresh air.
October 8, 20223 yr The spell under Frank where we couldn’t defend ruined his confidence. Prior to Frank, he was considered a good keeper. Always felt the criticism was abit harsh
October 8, 20223 yr Massive respect for Kepa's resilience and professionalism. To go from losing his place as worlds most expensive keeper, never moaned in the 2 years he has been on the bench, and now looks to have gained his confidence back, and looks like the keeper we signed 4 years ago. I still think theres technically deficiencies in his game, but if he keeps his head, and keeps doing the basics right, I think he deserves to be starting with Mendy's form in the last year.

That's one thing I've always given him and the reason I held back from going in too hard on him the way I did Lukaku. He had some self awareness and put his head down compared to the outrageous PR the latter got from his mates in the media and even himself.

You went hard on Kepa and much harder than Plokoon was today!

October 8, 20223 yr You know we could of had this form though when Mendy was conceding 7 goals in 3 days last season. One thing that made me lose some respect for TT was that! ..Not many agreed!
October 8, 20223 yr Kepa has a chance to make himself Potters number 1, as long as he does not make too many major screw ups. Potter likes a sweeper keeper, Kepa can play that role well. If Mendy tries to, he does things like set Benzema up for a goal in a CL quarter final. Mendy will be like Ryan was at Brighton, surpass to requirements and on his way imo.
October 9, 20223 yr Without a doubt his place to lose. I think Mendy would have f**ked up at least one of those situations Kepa had to deal with, with his feet yesterday.
October 9, 20223 yr I like him this season, weirdly I feel comfortable having him as our no 1. I think he compliments Potter’s style really well, but who do we want to start against one of the strong teams, for example City? Haaland, eek.

One thing that made me lose some respect for TT was that! ..Not many agreed! Let's see if he can keep this up. How many times have we been here before with the big money signings (including Kepa himself before the lockdown) when they nail the basics for a few games? Edou himself had a great performance on the opening day but no one claimed he was back to his best or his rut was over and there was certainly no i told you so esque posts, rightly as it turned out and if he comes back in and keeps a couple of clean sheets (again rightly) the narrative will be more sample size is needed, so why is the cheap keeper being held to higher standards than the world record one? Like i said unlike previous record signings (and our current one) he has my respect for getting his head down and not whining and using shameless PR tactics but I want to see this regularly and against the type of opponents Edou was seeing off with his eyes closed (even in his rut he had two cup final clean sheets against the at the time best attack in the country, and a bonafide world class performance in one of them).

Mendy is not used to getting the ball back, Potter is fine with that just like Sarri and Kepa looks fine, though to be fair I thought Kepa looked decent pretty much every time he got his chance last season as well before our defense got worse.

Important thing too is that the back line looks calm and composed with Kepa at the back. It's a win/win. Our defence looks less hectic and Kepa raises his resale value.
October 9, 20223 yr I like how vocal he is telling people what to do, shows passion and a winning mentality!

October 9, 20223 yr OMG ! What are you lot up to ? Bigging up Kepa is just inviting a fecking disastrous performance pretty soon .!!

We are bigging up the back line if anything. There's a reasonable difference in composure. As I mentioned, its better a win/win because this enhances Kepa's resale value. I am not going to pretend he isn't one of the worst shot stoppers I've ever seen at this club.
