Like against Wolves, it's hard to pick one player, but for different reasons. It's between Luiz, Pedro and Azpilicueta for me, but I'm giving it to Azpilicueta. His best performance of the season so far, he was asked to work all game and his defending was world class. He got us out of so much trouble.

Went for kante. He had a difficult 1st half, but the goal was a massive turning point and he was unbelievable second half. Maybe it will shut some of the kante should swap jorginho noises, because its clear that it can work very effectively.

Azpiliucueta also showed he has what it takes to adapt, and the confidence we played out with through our right side in the second half was immense.

The difference between this perfomance and spurs wasn't tactical, it was done to work ethic and discipline.

Great win.

Total team performance - hard to make a decision but in the end I went w/ Dave - happy for the result but sad that the bin dippers are Top of the Table because of the result carloeyebrow_zpsdb550376.png

Would give it to Luiz. Fantastic ball to start the attack for our first goal. Secured the win himself with the second. He was totally focused throughout the game and dominated. He was the player we all really want him to be.

Many candidates this match for the right reasons.

Azpiliucetas best performance this season. Rudiger missed nothing. Kante and Pedro both worked tirelessly.

Went for Luiz for his defensive display as much as his pass and goal.

In all honesty I would have voted for Kante but because of the fact that we got a clean sheet, that long pass in the end of the first half and the goal he scored I voted for David Luiz.

As Jose said a few seasons ago, a team of Azpi's would win everything (or words similar). That said, Kante for me. His forward runs got in behind City more than any other player, which was crucial.

I don't know if I can agree with that, I think we lose this game too if we swap Pedro out for Morata.  Playing Hazard at the false 9 let a lot of other things happen. That work ethic was allowed to happen to only due to a tactical change.  And we know Hazard doesn't love the false 9, so it was a bit of a gutsy move by Sarri.  A lot were questioning it early - complaining about our two best players both not playing in ideal positions, in the end its what won it for us.

I agree with the tactical change giving us better defensive stability, I've posted something about it in the hazard thread.

I do think there was a massive change in attitude and determination between this game and the spurs game though. Rudiger actually spoke about it after the game, and said the team spoke between themselves after the wolves game, with regards to the mentality, and the willingness to do the dirty work.

I can't tell you who the man of the match was because a few of the definitely deserved it. I will say David Luiz played a hell of a game. Hell of a game so I'd say either him, Kante or Hazard.

Wolves saw 4 different players play RLC, Fabergas, Christensen, and Morata, of course there was a difference in attitude, 3 of those players don't defend.

Many here bemoaned Alonso's game, well he had Loftus Cheek protecting him instead of Kovacic, Fabergas was out of position and too high on the build up to both goals, a spot Jorginho immediately calms down, Morata has no mental toughness, and Christensen was the other player supporting Alonso and played a part too.

I dont really get the point you are trying to make if I'm being honest.

Sarri questioned the mentality and determination of the players after both the spurs game, and the wolves game.

I think the city game was much improved on both fronts, and I agree it was partly down to the personnel, but 9 of the players that just didn't turn up at Wembley, all played very well, fighting for every ball on Saturday. That to me is a massive reason for us getting 3 points.
