The absurd wages, long contracts, massive amounts of money they are willing to pay for any crap they can find. What are they doing? they are leaving no room for error in a sport that tends to change very quickly, and those errors are already mounting up. I thought they were just being ambitious to begin with, but with every mistake they make, I just think they don't know what they are doing. "Trust the process".......well the process has to show something worth trusting first and every move they make seems to be the wrong one. They are backing us into a dangerous corner with their decision making. What are we going to do if these signings don't pay off? It's not like with Abramovich, he wasn't putting every player, even unproven or mediocre ones, on 7 year contracts and massive wages (apart from Kepa) We'll never get rid of them, no team will be able to take them off us and those players can sit on a contract for years without worry. They are playing a high stakes game which could ruin us. Yeah I share these concerns. Have voiced them enough times, so won’t repeat myself. All I’ll say is that “trust the process” is such a finance industry platitude. It means nothing.
January 9, 20233 yr We as fans ( including me ") meekly accepted our club being ripped from the owner and taken into the hands of the government.. Cowed into not even chanting Romans name. We turned up to protest about the Super League though.. We deserve what we have now. . .. From Russia to America... That's us !

But surely Todd is taking advice on it , and must be aware of the risk ? The new regime is meant to be driven by stats etc etc, it would be nice if the club were to make clear why we are doing this ? Anyway, just watched the highlights again, still a horror show !
January 9, 20233 yr One thing we have to be aware of with the new owners is that they are used to a completely different model of doing business and prioritise long term projects. I'm no NBA or NHL expert, but as an avid sports fan, I follow those since a long time ago and one thing I have noticed is that one day I see these teams at the very top and then fast forward for two seasons and they are at the bottom. And then they are back again at the top in a few seasons through smart projects, recruiting and top draft picks. We don't have a draft in Europe and it's irrelevant to the story, bottom line is and what I am trying to say is that the new owners have this patience in their DNA, they come with a different set of skills in how they conduct their business and commit to long term projects, rather than short term fix. I truly believe that at the moment they are not that fussed about all the situation. They probably analysed the squad and they accept top four is a long shot and nothing can be done about this season anymore and will try to do their business in the market and rebuild. Their mindset is completely different from Roman's and tabloids, pundits and fans' pressure might just change that in the next months If we become a laughing stock, but for the moment I truly believe they are not that concerned and frustrated as we are and stick to their two, three or God knows how many years plan they have in mind.

I agree. They likely see this season as a write off, next season as target top 4, season after as target title. But this is Chelsea. We probably will win the champs league this year.
January 9, 20233 yr In regards to football it's way too early to tell how the current owners will turn out, but they have a vision for the club and it involves winning and being a top club, so for me that's what matters.

Whilst i think this a very valid point, the Glazer model should act as a beacon of what might occur and therefore the direction to avoid. 650m subordinated loan that hasn't been cleared in 15 years of ownership despite about 700m of interest having been paid and a club that has listlesstly bobbed along ever since Fergie retired whilst the ground and facilities have gradually deteriorated. That cyclical model seen in so many of US franchise sports just hasn't happened at Man Utd.
January 9, 20233 yr Wow - Simon Jordan just now on talkSPORT literally said he knows from the horses mouth why Todd Boehly got rid of Tuchel & he was 100% right & he would have kicked him out even faster than Boehly did! said it’s up to Todd if he releases the whole story. Also, The day after TT sacking Jason Cundy said in talk sport, “if you knew what I know” you wouldn’t be surprised why he was sacked. Seems to be more to it.
January 9, 20233 yr I think they really need to double down on supporting potter, if he is the one they want. Find the money for Enzo, try and get a loan with buy option for Felix, and maybe look for a bargain option like Thuram upfront. Kepa James T.Silva Badiashille Cucurella Zakaria Enzo Sterling Felix Pulisic Thuram Surely better balanced than what we have at the moment? Honestly clutching at straws here, because it is such a mess. We cant keep going with Havertz, Mount, Aubameyang, Koulibaly, and Jorginho. Its driving me insane.😂

No more or no less credible than other rumour makers on social media. Say you know something, hint about it but be vague and give no details for fear of burning your source and expect everyone to buy it. So tell us the truth then eh?

I agree, but I'm curious to hear what happened. I think a lot of us figured there must have been some sort of blow out between either TT and Boehly or TT and the players after that loss in the ucl. Maybe we will never know maybe it's better that way i dont know

January 9, 20233 yr Clearly Jason and Simon are not willing to cough it up so we likely won't know, unless one journo pays them enough and keeps there name out of it. Even then we won't be sure.

I think we all blamed Todd for getting rid of Tuchel when we thought it was just because Tuchel didn’t want to be part of a Todd’s whats app group…something daft like that. But actually, it looks like something more serious happened.

Not revealing your sources is one thing, not revealing the story and expecting listeners to trust your 'insider' knowledge, gets me thinking, put up, or shut up.

Cundy is up there with ex CFC players I can't stand he's not anti Chelsea just a massive twat. Burley is the most hated of course.

January 9, 20233 yr I think we can all agree that we have a problem. Differences come down to how to apportion the blame between owners/manager/players. I give it something like a 70/20/10. Granted, the squad has its problems, our activity in transfer market has been terrible, and we have a lot of injuries. But I guarantee you the players we have available are way better than THIS. The criticism levelled at them then is that they are overpaid prima donnas who don’t care about the club. But let’s be realistic. No modern day footballer loves their club unconditionally. Besides, I don’t think it’s fair to some of them. Maybe the likes of Aubamayeng. But not Mount, not Kovacic, not Silva (who also has been underperforming lately but he is 38!), not Zakaria (from what I’ve seen), alll of whom have a great attitude on top of ability to burn. But if the club is rotten, they’re going to struggle to perform. And if that carries on, why WOUDN’T they go elsewhere if it presented the opportunity to play in a better team with a better coach, and an all round better experience? Their careers are only so long… By the same token, if the club is rotten, bringing in Enzo or Rice or whatever other names are getting thrown around isn’t going to fix anything. If they were to come to our current setup, they would underperform too. We would be moaning about them in no time. Many people talk about how the players aren’t good enough for Chelsea. My fear is it’s the other way round. Say we finish 12th in the league, playing uninspiring football. Why would Enzo or whoever else want to join? instead, our better players will all get bought by other clubs and we will all be mourning their loss as we watch Chelsea slide. I hope the optimists are right - that it all gets turned around in time, Potter turns out to be great, we get these players everyone wants and start challenging again. I see it as very low probability right now. I fear we are in the early stages of a long, lean period. Hope not.
