Mason Mount

I just don't think he's good enough to be starting games for us yet. He has looked devoid of all confidence since he came back from injury.

If CHO was a 30 year old then no one would say his form deserves a place in the team. He also doesn't deserve to play simply because he is young and will improve, he needs to show it in the 20 minutes he gets and in the starts he gets in B team games like against Krasnador - which for me he hasn't done. He looked miles away from being good enough despite his goal (a poor shot that should have been saved by any decent keeper).

So whilst he looks that devoid of confidence, you start a player who is full of energy, who you trust and who has confidence. Mount.

But Mount isn't good as a wide player. Last season he had some good moments while playing wide yes but this season he has been absolutely terrible as a wide player! Full of energy means nothing when he was invisible against Southampton and Sevilla (I can also add the first half against Liverpool as well)...

We don't really lose much by playing CHO at his natural position, yes Mount tracks back but Werner really doesn't track back that much when he is played wide (also not his best position) and that doesn't really hurt us... Playing Mount at his natural position vs playing him out wide has been like day and night, Mount is not even half the player when he is playing wide.

Why don't we try it out and see how we look without Mount playing wide but with CHO as a winger? Oh wait, we actually did that once, in our 4:0 win against Palace! So there we have it, we can trust CHO after all, who would have thought...

Mount has been played out of position and has been poor. This has resulted in personal insults aimed at Mount from some morons.

CHO has been left out of the starting 11 to accommodate Mount being out of position.

This has a negative impact on both Mount and CHO. If any other person was making this decision they’d be criticised. Some of the happy clappers on here are incapable of condemning Frank’s decision making.

Less of the happy clappers please if your actually wanting to hold a decent conversation. Unless your just wanting to troll and be a dick.

Mount wasn't poor, he had a role to play in the games and executed it well in the main. People were unhappy because it wasn't their favourite player picked and mount is an easy target for those who dislike our manager for some reason.

You are clutching at straws if you genuinely believe Chelsea fans dislike Frank Lampard. Questioning his decisions does not mean he is disliked.

So you've never looked at social media?

Actually I recall people here specifically complaining that Mount has been poor as a winger and I haven't seen anyone saying that CHO is their favorite player...

Do you class the social media c**ts as proper fans? I barely class them as people...

Ha ha, good point.

That's great, but he didn't play as a winger.

If we stick with this midfield then the fact 2 of them are 21 is pretty impressive if you ask me.

See if Amapdu can replace Kante in years to come then they could be together a decade 😉

Glimour as well.

I'm shocked at how good he is in the middle, for all the stick I've gave you about Zouma @bisright1 you've got this one spot on about Mount. This is probably his best position. I might be getting carried away after two games but so far I like what I've seen from him.

I was always lead to believe Mounts best position is behind the striker, but he looks far better deeper.

I still think I am right about Zouma 😉 - at least I think he's good enough to be one of our centre backs.

I am consistently baffled how Mount isn't adored by all Chelsea fans. He is home grown, hard working and always plays with a smile on his face (despite the abuse he gets, he was trending on twitter yesterday because Jack Grealish was playing well and people wanted to slag him off in comparison)

5 years ago he would be everyone's favourite player without a doubt.

He's still 21 and has lot of years to improve and get better, he has a long career to play and the beginning of his career is great. The trust he gets from Lampard actually helped him a lot, even when we though he should be dropped but Lampard kept playing him.

Playing him in the CM position is the correct decision for him and for the team, he's great hardworker and he has the quality to play possession game and move forward with the game which makes him a good CAM as well. The credit he gets is well deserved, but he has to keep himself humble and keep that going, save his spot in the National team and prove himself in the league.

One improvement that could add a lot to his game is numbers, scoring or assisting would give a huge boost to his confidence and make him a better player. I'd happy with the same numbers he gave us last season.

I love Mount, I love his attitude and work rate and I think he's talented.

The only problem I had with how much he was playing while he was in average form. I felt it was a Mourinho situation, overplaying and favouritism. But his game against Burnley was the best one I've seen from him, and he was really good last game. In this role he looks really well suited.

And for some reason people on social media have started to take it out on Mount that he was picked. As if he should have turned round to the manager and asked to not play? Madness. I am glad this forum is a bit more normal than twitter/reddit.

Social media is pathetic, the abuse he receives on Twitter is absolutely ridiculous, I can't stand it. I'll surface there now and then for some content regarding stats and highlights, but I can't stand the fans opinions for that reason.

I felt as though on this forum though, after his first season he was overrated on here, but severely underrated on social media. However, I bet even those trolls are giving him credit now, because so far he looks solid. Only 21 years old also.

Of course! He has played CM ever since he was 8 years old. My only criticism of Lampard playing him is when Lamps played Mount on the wings to do the Willian role.

That's a waste of his talents and wasting someone else's time on the bench
