There is nothing to suggest that.  Both are on a poor run of form.  These things turn around and I don't see they shying away from a challenge.

Havertz seems a shy lad, mentality fragile type like Morata, Werner (although bad body language atm) seems a bit more resilient.

Every report on him I've read says he is very strong mentally and a leader type. Not vocal but always a good example. He will snap out of his slump once he plays a central role higher up the pitch. Just a couple of good performances and he snatches up a starting spot.

I'm hoping he has a good game in the Cup earning him a place against Fulham where he can deliver.

We certainly need someone with more attacking guile.

Peter Bosz, the current Leverkusen managers had an interview with the Athletic where he said:

“As for Kai, I can see why Chelsea brought him in but I cannot yet see the exact idea Frank Lampard has for him. It’s really good that he protects him in the press, though. But in the end, you must deliver, you must score goals and make goals. For a €100 million transfer you must play, and he isn’t.”

He really could take more role on the pitch. Many times he shares the responsibilities by making a short pass and runs away.

Anyway today was a good display of some of the qualities he posesses. He makes smart runs inside the box all game long. Players have to start picking his runs. He still fumbles with the ball and makes easy mistakes but you can see he needs time and run of games.

I predict we will see some great displays from him later in the season.

Fantasise about him in a team with Cesc and Hazard, Lamps will be desperate to unearth or nurture a future KDB

We need to change something, him with the freedom of a 10 is key imo.

Many of us praise Mount for his pressing and work ethic, I can see him doing excellent when asked to sit deep and pick long passes and take on the odd long shot.

His height is finally being used effectively, a headed goal and a knockdown assist. Maybe he can be our Fellaini?

He is not strong enough to play as target man

Never even knew this kid 12 months ago and obviously fell for the hype. Very disappointed as for all the talk I expected to see some Kaka esq impact from him. I'm just worried how bad he looks in terms of getting the basics right. I don't mind the lazy style but my god the horrible ball control, getting caught in possession and wayward passing has me very concerned. Only positive is his strength and ability to win headers.

wasn't signed for just this season...clearly club wanted to take the opportunity to beat top clubs who couldn't afford him last summer due to pandemic and bought for long-term, even if it was a year too early. I've seen enough to think he will come good. Cost loads but worth remembering he's younger than Mason Mount.

When was the last time we see another midfielder runs into the box and score a header, or even contest in the box? As poor as he has been, we do miss what he's offering when he's going into the box, he needs to get better, but needs to be given chances.

I watched pretty much everything there is to him following the saga during the summer. I am feeling very confident he is going to be a big player for us. As I started watching him on YouTube and for Leverkusen I thought early on he looks very effortless and non-explosive. After that I realized he is just very efficient which is natural for a German guy 😉.

He doesn't huff and puff or battle which is something in England is widely loved. His playing many times looks too simple. Yet he racks up goals and assist in a rate only players like Ronaldo and Messi have done in his age. Now it doesn't mean he will hit those heights but he he continues his impressive rate in the Prem we have a gem in our hands.

When he runs towards the goal he just goes there the shortest route, when he passes, he passes so it is easy to continue the move and build the play.

If you look at him in our games he is one of our most advanced players and he very much tries to go for goal. It is natural for him. Kante or Kovacic dread to cross the line that marks the box. Only Mount is as direct as Kai is.

When he starts to find players and their runs and most importantly vice versa he will rack up goals and assist in an impressive rate. I think that could happen as early as this season.

If you expect him to battle, slide in tackles, run around players, puff his chest you will be very disappointed. That is not him at all.

For me the most impressive thing is his mental strength. Everyone from Germany thinks that is his strength. He is not going to be Paul Pogba or Alvaro Morata in that sense.

He isn’t at fault though, same with Werner. You don’t buy German players to play possession football. It is madness, Pep has even abandoned that style of football. If Lamps was adamant on reinventing it, he should have signed Spanish players.

Agreed. Possession football needs to be scrapped. I used to like it as when you have the ball you cannot concede but we do nothing with it and get killed on the counter.

I don't really think it's Lampard's plan though. Teams have just found out that if they sit deep, let us have to ball and counter us they will have every chance to beat us.
So we are more or less forced to have possession.
