Even if he is slower, even if he is 39. You call it suicidal, but how would it be any worse than what we already have? We are on course to have our worst season defensively than we have ever had in the Premier League. Disasi and Badiashile are first choice right now, but I wouldn't have either of them ahead of Silva, Colwill or Chalobah. I would take a fit Fofana over them right now too.
April 5, 20242 yr I'll admit I was one of those who thought his lack of pace affected us in games. I still to some extent believe there's truth to that. But I can't sit here and say we've been better without him, especially when I see the horrendous performances Badiashile is putting in. I think we needed to start playing without him at some point because he's not going to be here next season and we need to get used to playing with our players, so gently ease him out. But given what we've seen on the pitch lately, I'm all for getting him back into the team, it's a f**king mess at the moment.
April 5, 20242 yr I believe that if Poch wants to keep his job and make a serious push for 6th/7th then the only sensible option would be dropping Badi for Thiago. Maybe Trev can also slot in for Disasi, but this season Badiashile has been awful/comical/tragical.

Poch’s gung ho tactics is the main reason we are conceding loads of goals. He pushes both fullbacks far up into the opposition half leaving the CBs exposed. The top teams only push one up with the other being restricted. If he made a tactical adjustment and pulled Cucurella further back, leaving Gusto upfield we would stop leaking goals. Have a look at the average positions of Gusto (27) & Cucurella (3) Contrast with Rico Lewis (82) and Gvardiol (24) Liverpool under Klopp restrict Bradley (84) to push up Gomez (2). Everyone assumes bringing back Thiago in the interim and buying more experienced CBs in the summer and a new LB would solve our issues. It would be rinse and repeat until Manager sorts out his tactics. Edited April 6, 20242 yr by ducavis

So basically this is saying that Poch has our full backs more defensive than Klopp and Pep.
April 20, 20242 yr This is both sad and infuriating at the same time. One player who has given everything for us kept his body going at the age of 39, crying because he probably knows this was his last chance to help us win something and go out with a bang......and right behind him you have Madueke, laughing with the opposition. Some of these young players ain't cut out for Chelsea. The last thing they should be wanting to do now is laugh and joke with the opposition after losing. So many of these players have a losers mentality.
April 20, 20242 yr The combination between the ownership and the players they recruited, with some few exceptions, and how they have ended Silvas time with us, is downright unforgivable.

April 22, 20242 yr Good. We need to move on from him eventually and he should enjoy the rest of his career vs the sh*tshow currently going on here. Club should genuinely boycott if he's replaced by a 20 year old mind.
April 22, 20242 yr It’s a huge loss. I just feel annoyed and angry with the squad and management more than anything. Thiago Silva represents everything we want in a footballer. The ultimate professional, gives 100% every game. He deserved much better than the sh*tshow past couple of seasons. It’s sad to see his career at top level end like this. I still consider him as our best defender, the rest are bums.
April 22, 20242 yr Nothing but respect to the man. Ideally he will come back as part of the coaching team, but life is never ideal. He deserves a proper sent off as one of the greats. It must be frustrating last 2 seasons for him, deserved a lot better.
April 22, 20242 yr Hmm some rumours he does not want to go back to Brazil yet and is open to another PL move or to a European league. Apparently he wanted to stay, Poch wanted him to stay, the owners wanted him to stay and the issue was not wages or contract length, but the NDA players are not made to sign before signing on for us.
April 23, 20242 yr I hope he gets a good sendoff. It has been a pleasure having him at our club. I hope in future he might be part of the coaching staff, if he decides to go in that direction.
April 23, 20242 yr Sad news, although it's probably the right time. What a great servant to the club, he's given us everything. Thiago leaves as a legend and will always be welcomed back. The last bastion of the pre-Instagram cohort of players; who knows what will be left of the dressing room after he's gone. P.S. Romano is a shill.
April 23, 20242 yr Thiago Silva has honestly been one of my favourite players in recent times. A total pro and a different breed to modern footballers. Wish he could have gone out with one more trophy but at least he has that CL medal. Gonna miss him big time.
April 23, 20242 yr Sad to see him go, my favourite defender to pull on a Chelsea shirt since JT. If he is leaving this squad really is crying out for experience now, i hope we properly replace him and not just sign some other 21 year old from a lower league.
April 23, 20242 yr I think the time is right for him to go. Another season would feel a bit of a push. Not because he couldn't help us but because we need to move on. I feel we need to give the stage to Colwill, Badiashile, Fofana and co.
April 23, 20242 yr With his family settled and his son in Chelsea academy i wonder whether he will still stay in England this coming season.

Badiashile and Disasi are getting out performed by Chalobah, who will likely be sold in the summer.
April 23, 20242 yr He's a Chelsea legend for me, I don't care what anyone says. Model professional, consistent no matter how sh*te we are, won us the best trophy in football. It's a real shame he wasn't around under any other Chelsea era, because he definitely would've had a league title to his name. Best of luck in the future Thiago, it's been an honour watching you play here.

Probably doing his UEFA coaching badges alongside Belle, so they can take over as "co-managers" once Clearlake are done with Pochettino !
