February 12, 20242 yr Love him but he takes too many touches on the ball, Disasi gets the ball drives forward Silva stops and looks for a minute, moves the ball then stops again.

February 18, 20242 yr Silva is still a very good cb if you play specific way ( slow, back 3 not highline). This is nothing new, it has been the case since the 1st time he got here. Edited February 18, 20242 yr by Bob stark
February 18, 20242 yr Hope the next and final appearance for Silva in a blue shirt will be 19th May at home to Bournemouth when we will give him the legendary send off he deserves. Proof is in the pudding, we look a much more cohesive unit with him sat in the stands or bench. should have been moved on last year.

Yeah, look how much our defence has improved since Silva has been gone. Joy to watch.
March 2, 20242 yr And people actually thought we would be better without him. Some of you deluded yourselves into thinking that it must be a Silva problem because he's 40. No, the other players are much worse. Disasi has completely collapsed without a leader next to him. Colwill is still learning and he's now learning from Chalobah (can't read a cross) and Disasi who sh*ts himself and makes the whole defence panic. Silva's not the problem, the players around him are the problem. Maybe he can't play in a highline anymore, but at least he can defend, unlike all of these other defenders we bought.

I couldn't understand why we returned to a back three today but, when we did, Silva had to be one of them

Am just glad for him he has had a break from the sh*t show. He deserves to end his career better than this. Hope he goes back to Brazil and wins their league and CL. He deserves it.

It just annoys me that a portion of the fanbase can call out a player for having a few performance below his usual level and then claim he is completely finished and that the other players who have proven f**k all in their careers will be better off without him. "oh, he's too slow to release the ball from the back"........what player in the squad isn't slow at releasing the ball? They all play at walking pace most of the time. A 39 year old Thiago Silva is still easily a better footballer than every other CB at the club. The only thing the others have on him is age. There is zero chance Silva would fail to read as many crosses into the box that Chalobah, Disasi and Colwill failed to read today. I would go as far as to say that Silva would handle every single one of Brentford's crosses easily. Pochettino moans that he needs tall CB's (because he's a clown) but all of these CB's we have are taller than Silva and Silva is better than them when it comes to positioning, heading, reading a cross and clearing the danger. Pochettino doesn't need tall CB's, he needs CB's that are good at things we need them to be good at. Being tall doesn't guarantee any of this.
March 3, 20242 yr Still a better side without him in it... we were conceding goals with him in the side, so nothing has changed and our build up was excessively slow because of him, his range of passing is to the full backs and not pass into midfield to bypass the press. So Basically, if Chelsea win, you lot will complain that we didnt win well enough and players weren't good enough, draw, poch should be sacked, Gallagher is S**t, players this and that aren't good enough. Loose and you all all descend into hysteria and faux outrage. This forum should be renamed "poch out abuse Gallagher forum" far more apt name than the shed end.

Great post Certainly very little of what I would call "support" on here recently ...

Disasi looked fine away to City without Silva. Silva wont be here next season so id rather play the ones who will and get them ready for next season by playing together now.
March 3, 20242 yr As if we weren’t conceding stupid f**king goals with Silva in the team as well. Let the man leave and actually enjoy the rest of his remaining professional career.
March 3, 20242 yr Yesterday was the game for Silva when he played back 3, he'd command others to defend like a unit. Diasi had a shocker yesterday despite a goal, and a start too early for Chalobah. We seriously got away with it yesterday. Silva will leave and all the best to him, but he's not the problem.

To his and his family's credit they remain staunch Chelsea fans.
April 4, 20242 yr You're a clown if you think this guy isn't good enough for this defence. Even if he is slower, even if he is 39, he still f**king destroys any other CB at this club.

Absolutely agree , the narrative of him being the cause of the defensive woes was so bizarre and proven now to be completely false.. but he’s turning 40 in a few months , it’s time to try bed in some of the other centre backs particularly as there’s not much to play for in the league anyway.
April 5, 20242 yr It's pretty disgraceful how he's being treated to be honest, the fact that Chalobah is being brought on ahead of him is poor. We've conceded 2+ goals in the past 6 games which includes 2 teams battling relegation and 2 teams in the championship.

April 5, 20242 yr The Chalobah for Diasi sub was a bit of insanity in a match of madness, unless Diasi was injured, pretty sure there was a much worse defender on the pitch needed to go off. Secondly, to put Chaolbah on ( who's been pretty bad every since he returned) ahead of the Silva was just crazy. Fortunately we won the game, via very little merits of Poch.

I think he did it because Disasi is slow and would be suicidal to play him on the halfway line.. A couple of times Chalobah showed it too..
April 5, 20242 yr it was easy to pick on him, you see the age and how "slow" he is, takes too many touches apperently therefore we concede and he is the reason for it. Ya... He was not the reason as we see, it is just Poch and his tactics.

Chalobah should be starting every single game, always has been better than both Disasi and Badiashile. But sadly he was free from the academy so won't be rated as highly.
April 5, 20242 yr People need to understand Back 5 = play silva Back 4 = play 39 year old silva = suicide Cmon you fools yes he reads the game better yes hes experienced and has leadership abilities but if I can beat him in a sprint what do you think going to happen vs any PL striker I love the geeza if only we had him when he was younger but stop thinking with emotions hes gone even slower this season Edited April 5, 20242 yr by Conte
April 5, 20242 yr Even if he's the best, we aren't fighting relegation or a top 4 position so better to just bed the less experienced and competent ones to give them some football mileage that could help make them better perhaps. It will be his last season anyway and for me, a contentious viewpoint especially as I have a lot of regard for him, if he can't control his wife and have her keep her nose out of team affairs, he deserves to be sidelined for it. I understand passion but you can support your husband in other ways and it's ok for fans or anyone outside the team to criticise them but never for those in the team to do so and in such a public manner. It's disrespectful to your husband, his team mates, the coaching staff and club in general.
