Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

Featured Replies

He should be professional and score against Liverpool, just like Hazard was professional while flirting with Real Madrid for years. We depend on him a lot now and he's the one attacker that is building a decent form.

See, how incredibly lucky we are that no top side wanted any part of that useless lump and Inter were only too happy to dump him on our lap for a fortune. Think about it, if only Bayern, Barca or Real were stupid enough to bid for him or Inter were idiotic enough to offer him a new contract instead of fleecing Chelsea for a cool hundred mil, we may have missed out on this footballing genius.

So all Lukaku apologists, who were over the moon when he signed and couldn't shut up in the summer about "Big Rom and his unfinished business at Chelsea', what say you now?

Disappointing story, if true.

We'll have to make it work however, as the wage package we agreed with him will price most clubs out of the market for a potential sale (ditto Havertz, Werner, Kepa, Pulisic)

You just jump on any opportunity to say something against Lukaku, we get it you hate him...

Disgusting interview. It all sounds far worse when you get the whole thing.

Basically telling us all how much better Inter is than Chelsea and how he regrets leaving and how Barcelona is a much better club than us and what not. Never in my life heard anything as stupid from a Chelsea player.

Then he also tells Lautaro Martinez to stay put at Inter because he'll be back soon enough.

Sell in the summer latest. And I like Lukaku but this is entirely unacceptable.

If you read this, I don't really see the problem.

Media trying to create a problem here.

Stick your head in the sand if you want but the actual video is even worse than the quotes. Most importantly Tuchel has now confirmed he’s not happy with the comments to the worlds media today and did nothing much to play it down.

Another take: telling Inter fans how grateful he is to have spent the best years of his career there (undeniable), and how circumstances drove him away rather than disloyalty/ lack of appreciation towards Inter and the fans. In the same interview he repeats that Chelsea are his 'favourite club'. He was very happy at Inter and would have stayed, but had the chance to come back to the club he supports in a league where he has big ambitions to win things.

Totally agree that he's done himself and the club no favours at a very difficult time, and he could have chosen his words more carefully, but I don't think this is as bad as the media - and some on here - are painting it.

Very disappointing comments - no excuses, he is not a teenager now so to come out with such comments is clearly a message he wanted to send it out.

no wonder it coincided with the poor performances he was putting in there.

Let’s c how TT reacts - the one thing though is that no of our forwards are doing well in this system. I am sure none of them are happy being shoe horned in this system.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Werner/ Havertz are unhappy and then the constant habbit of playing CHO and Pulisic out of position is also there.

If it was anyone else they might have got the benefit of the doubt. However Rom has history with behaviour like this as soon as he realises he has to fight for his place and isn't rewarded it by default.

We're talking about a guy who leaked confidential documents while he was at United. I really don't know why anyone is surprised, I don't usually say I told you so but I warned anyone that will listen this would happen the guy is an absolute whingebag of the highest order when things don't go his way.

I remember years ago hearing him say how much he supported Chelsea and it's his dream to play for us. Now he says "the truth is" Bayern RM and Barca are everyone's dream club.

I've long suspected that tour was a PR stunt. I don't really mention it much because the few times I do I tend to cause pages worth of anger but after this f**k it.

This whole story has been blown out of proportion. However, we can't have this sort of press in the middle of the season when we aren't in the best of form, Romelu needs to come out with a statement to clarify what he meant to put this whole story to bed otherwise the press is going to be playing this game all season long.

Can't imagine Tuchel is best pleased about this one either.

Keep in mind we were league leaders when he said this.

Everyone knows the lines you come out with in these interviews, things like ...."how much you enjoyed your old club" and "one day you would like to go back"=, but at the moment you are fully devoted to giving Chelsea the best years of my career", bla bla bla....

He really has not thought this through has he, i would hope the club will stamp down on this and make sure he keeps his gob shut. The only place he should be doing any talking is on the pitch.

He had better PR at a young age, one good season in Serie eAsy and he thinks he's above all the PR stuff.

He probably thinks it's hard to get a trophy at Chelsea than with the other clubs, which is likely true. Barcelona haven't been in their prime for a while, so no idea how that goes from here on, but Real Madrid are in form, and Bayern dominate their league. I think he realised how tough it will be to win the a trophy in England as he's had no success here in the past, and figures that putting out feelers for those big clubs would be better. If we can make most of the money back on him, then sell him in the summer. I don't want players here who are craving other clubs and won't give their all.

I'm pretty sure Tuchel isn't that happy about all this regardless of the fact that the media is blowing this up out of proportion.

I have complained about our attack... And I was happy to admit that I was wrong when I saw Lukaku scoring. But maybe he wants to get the ball more and wants to be played more because he knows that it's not possible for him to continue being so clinical?

Is he's not getting involved as much as he would like?

5 goals, 8 shots on target, 2 times hit the woodwork, 2 big chances missed, 3 big chances created. It's a bit confusing for me because in the last game I think I saw Jorginho passing to him through the middle about 5 times, I saw Kovacic carrying the ball and laying it off to him inside the box, I saw some crosses towards him and long balls for areal duels as well.

Not sure where does he get the idea that he should personally talk to Tuchel considering that he's getting involved as much as possible, he's not a player-manager. Havertz was played in multiple positions and even when it didn't work out he never ever complained he just kept trying to make something out of nothing, Lukaku in comparison is played only as the striker and he still gets to complain about it.

I’m not surprised he wants to go back to Inter, let’s face it any mediocre striker can score 20 goals a season in Serie A. The Prem is tough and he knows that. He probably knows that he doesn’t get away with his awful first touch as much in the Prem too. He’s 28 and at his age he should be more careful what he says to the media. Let’s see how forgiving the crowd is on Sunday because after these comments he either wins us the game or he’s going to take some stick. Personally I hope TT stamps on this quickly because we don’t want more player power costing a brilliant manager his job again.

Who do we replace him with if we were to sell him at the end of the season, even assuming we would have a buyer ?

Bring back Tammy, who at least has huge genuine feeling for the club ?

Put some faith in Broja ?

Not sure I have much confidence in our scouting network sourcing a suitable replacement, considering the meagre returns we have seen from the expensively assembled cohort of Pulisic, Werner, Havertz and Ziyech. Certainly seem to have been some glaring holes in our process of recruitment for Lukaku ... throwing money around like confetti obscuring any real motivation of the player to want to be here for starters !

Perhaps it is time for the rest of the board to properly trust Petr Cech's judgement on football matters, and quit pussying around with the job titles and make him the proper DoF ?

Far from convinced that Marina is the boardroom genius that people think she is ...

To be fair, I don't think it's Marina's job to scout and identify our transfer targets. She's in charge of negotiating transfer deals and contracts, as far as I can tell.

well that escalated quickly

I thought that his gobing at Utd was partly due to the fact his transfer with Conte felt appart and wanted to be at Chelsea. I realy do not have words, he just can't shut the f**k up. What a plonker.

he's just flashed our season right down the f**king toilet.

So in others words, she was responsible for paying £98m for Lukaku, and giving him a salary of £325K a week. And also agreeing the £4.3M loan fee and £198K a week for Saul. And £71m fee for Kepa, on a 7 year contract, and £155K a week wages. And £272K a week for Timo Werner :-)
