Do not wait for Lukaku to be sold. Sign Vlahovic now and do the best we can to sift lukaku.

Why is Vlahovic the man that will give us the goal scoring magic axman? I don't know anything about him. What league does he play in?

Drogba led the line for a runaway title win while putting in genuine 10/10 performances against Liverpool and Bayern (imagine us playing the latter with Rom upfront, shudder).

Comparing the two is an insult to Didier's name.

If we had signed him like this for a record fee in the late 90's or early 2000's it would have been massive even if you reduce the actual fee by half, so the fact that he's nowhere near comparable to Drogba should be a big deal for the fans and for the club.

Not that I expected him to be really close in terms of impact but a 100m striker signing should be eating everyone alive in 8/10 games, but Lukaku looks like he's semi-daydreaming with his eyes in relax mode for most parts of the game. I remember when Aguero came to the PL, or the little Tevez guy, you could see that they were beasts and that they had unreal energy on the pitch. Yes it took Drogba some time to settle in the PL but Lukaku has already been in this league.

Lukaku is the epitome of "luxury player".

Our only hope is Tuchel, at least he see's what were seeing, and thinks Rom is way too static and virtually useless in our system.

Unfortunately,  he will have pressure from the board to play him given his price tag. And if he doesn't manage to make him perform, Tuchel will be made to leavif. am so pissed off we invested in this guy.

It’s been a while and apart from a good game against Liverpool over two years ago and a reasonable match 1st leg against RM last year he has been a major disappointment and we should get rid. He is not cut out for Prem football but maybe he’d do ok elsewhere.

Lukaku has been here half a season in which in he has had a long injury and COVID and yet people just want to go on and on and on the same stuff every f**king post. He may not be the answer to our goal scoring woes  because I don’t think we are a team that suits him but can we at least give him a season.

Tbf all I've said is he looks no different to the Rom we shipped out years ago, our Transfers in over the last few windows, apart from Havertz CL winner (cuts him lots of slack, but Ziyech ,Werner, Havs, and Rom have been woeful, maybe TT cant get a tune out of these players, They have certainly forgot the Tenets of Attacking football we had a the start of the season, i realise James and Chilly make a big difference to the play, so not expecting to see a real Rom till TT gets the best XI playing..

So many bizzare analysis. Most are a bit nonsene. Lukaku did not play great but I thought he was ok. His biggest problem was he had many2 ball losses which was pointed out Tuchel.

In perfect world we should ask Lukaku to  play multiple role but it was simply impossible today. With ziyech and puli having total nightmare game plus without having two flying wb. Our ONLY way to attack was through high ball recovery and Lukaku hold up. If we played Havertz over Lukaku, which what most fans want it would have been worst.

Rom can’t hold up the ball. He doesn’t even drop deep to give our midfielders an option, hence why all the backwards and sideways passing. He’s like Jimmy Floyd Hasseilbank except he never shoots (and stays on his feet).

Havertz is always on the move, Lukaku is largely static, this is the major problem, no movement means he doesn't gamble and expects the ball to find him, the only reason you would play a center forward with little mobility is because they score the goals when the chances do come to them, without the goals he becomes a luxury player.

Yeah I know @Ballack & Blu, and I didn’t mean to get at you. It’s just every time I come on to site it’s become Lukaku bashing (not you).

No, i was just conversing  with ya mate, unfortunately Rom has bought all this neg reaction on himself, to think the resources we've had, and apart from Costa ,and maybe Anelka, (Drogba) had one brilliant GS season, we wouldn't know a decent striker or the Chelsea curse abounds, to think we nearly bought a nineteen yr old Torres, and peak Aguerro, and no doubt loads of others, our style of play seems entrenched, i blame play on the pitch to Capt Azpi, a great defender, but hasn't really got an attacking bone in his body, and yes that goes back to Sarri......its probably just me, but i find it hard to watch Chelsea lately zZzzzZZ

He plays for Fiorentina Just.

He seems to have a lot of the same characteristics as Haaland, who would be the ideal signing but seems like he is only interested in City if he comes to England.

Being mobile is good but against city, it is not about being mobile. It is about can you progress the ball.

With our two 10 having horror show + no wb help, you need your 9 to play target man to give us avenue to progress the ball because there is simply no other avenue. We tried asking Havertz to do something similar against liverpool last year under Lamp and it was a disaster.

I am not trying to defend Lukaku here, I thought he struggled and I expected him to bury that chance. But playing Havertz yesterday will not help

I know right. There is no evidence that with Havertz, Werner and Mount the outcome against City would be any different.

If you want to analyze game based just on scoreline then you are 100% right

One of the things we feared was Rom was lack of production in big games. So far those fears have been well founded:

Arsenal, 1 game 1 goal.

Spurs, 3 games 0 goals.

Liverpool, 1 game 0 goals.

Man United, 0 games

Man City, 2 games 0 goals

Juventus, 1 goal 0 goals.

Not inspiring so far.

B-b-but he scores against Villa, Brighton and Chesterfield!!!

How does somebody his size win zero out of seven aerial duels against City? It's unbelievable.

He's a ladder for opponents. Kante wins more aerial duels and Kante is 20cm shorter than him.

When you're chasing the league scoring against these teams is critically important. We didn't lose the league today, but instead in a bunch of games against smaller teams in December.

Ideally you want to be scoring against the big teams too, but the league is won by picking up maximum against Brighton etc.

You're not wrong but in this case I fully expect him to shine like a spotlight in the next game since that's the bar we set for him now.

If Lukaku would accept his limitations and help us by stat padding in those games while accepting a more reduced role in the big one's then that would be a fair argument price tag aside.

But even if you take away his price tag he's set his own expectations by how highly he things of himself.

If Kai was playing with ziyech and pulisic the result would be the same or worst. Both wings were very bad no decent pass at all. Odoi, Ziyech and pulisic can’t take on their man and they cross the ball with head down. People should open their eyes :man city let Sarr plays long balls where most of his ball were half bad and made it difficult for our forwards. Look at the different when Rudiger was playing that position. Yeah sure you think we we 4 -0 without him but back then you have Chillwell, James and ziyech was out of the team.

Here's a novel suggestion, maybe it's not just one or the other and we could have benched all three and played the front three that's attributes are tailor made to trouble City and did in the biggest club game off all?

With every strikers you would have the same problem in this system. Chill, James both injured and the wingers are Ziyech, Odoi and Pulisic. Your best player mount is out of shape. Your backline have to many injury so the team is changing all the time. So only balls will be coming from Kovacic. Tuchel don’t want to change the system even half of the importent players a missing or out of form to play his 343.

Every striker doesn't have the same weaknesses Lukaku's got. Most strikers at that level are much better equipped technically, more versatile, have much more to their game  and can create goals on their own even if service is lacking, which is what Tuchel quite bluntly stated in his post match interview. Lukaku's limitations as a player makes the team predictable and easy to defend against, that's why his record vs top sides is abysmal and so will be our team record in these type of matches with him leading our attack.
