Completely echo the above 2 posts. We need players who can tough it out, not a team who goes hiding.

Crap sale in my opinion, one of the few players we've got that genuinely love the club sold after 1 season, he deserved another season for sure.

Take the money and run in my opinion. Yes he may love the club but he’s miles off it.

Based on what? If we're basing it on last season there isn't a player we have that's anywhere near 'it'

Hes one you can judge because to his credit he actually did try and was motivated but He’s nowhere near technically skilled enough. Runs around like a headless chicken, has little to no awareness of whats around him , fouls constantly and just generally has an erratic touch/final ball.

West Ham received 100mill in one payment for Rice. Keep that in mind with offers like this. 

I would not sell Conor, and given this is the opening offer I would ask him if he wants to go there. If he does set up a 55mill deal including add ons. 50 plus 5.

I can only guess this is to help meet Brighton asking price, nothing else he’s helping to fund that transfer other than that this is a silly transfer in my opinion of course.

 

Probably good to sell, think this seems to suggest Cesare Casadei has passed him up in the clubs eyes, and Gallagher would lose value

I've admire Conor and I think he can succeed at Chelsea.  Scored two goals in two games now 🙂 But I could countenance selling him for 40 m if it meant we could get Caicedo.

If he's interested to move on, let's do a deal. I don't want see him to be pushed out, think he deserves a year and has something to offer. It's not like we are a club in desperate financial troubles and need clearing out to survive. It would be a really bad precedent to set for the youth players at Chelsea.

A few are claiming we have rejected West Hams bid.

We sell him now and Brighton will completely f**k us (more than they are doing already) for Caicedo. Those bastards will add another 20% to the asking price.

Truly bizarre if we do sell Conor. Shooting ourselves in the foot before the season even starts.

So we simply walk away and leave them with an unhappy player, and go after somebody else instead ! 

Our recruitment team simply wouldn't be doing their job properly if the only midfield target we have in world football is Caicedo ...

Well, we lost out on Ugarte in early June. Ever since we have been entirely focused on Caicedo so if we pull out of a deal for him now two months later then that's pretty much a disaster.

Pre-season ends in just over a week, the manager is publically impatient and we are nowhere near a deal for Caicedo or any other midfielders. We are going to approach 2017 territory fast as far as i'm concerned. Caicedo had to be here already so he and Enzo could have some time to form a partnership, now it's basically given that neither Caicedo or any other midfield signing for that matter will play exactly zero games alongside Enzo before the season starts.

TBF we've been saying for years that we need to have a number one target and go for them, not just settle for number two or three. That's why we ended up with so many Zappacosta's and Drinkwater's over the years. As a player that'll last us a decade i'd rather us just cough up the money then never deal with Brighton again.

Liverpool had a similar situation with Southampton for VVD for what everyone said was far too much money but going all out paid dividends in the end. 

We are very tight in the midfield area, but I would take the offer. Granted we get replacements.

If we manage to get Caicedo, we would then have Enzo, Caicedo, Chukwuemeka, Andrey Santos and Casadei for midfield pivot. All apart from Enzo and Caicedo, who both are very young themselves, the others are basically untried. 

Again I love the balls from the club going with the young squad, but is it something Pochettino is expecting...

I personally don't think Caicedo is worth close to 100m, if we are willing to go up to 100, I rather get somebody like rice.

With all due respect, that midfield 5 looks awful.

I don't believe we will sign Caicedo and we shouldn't for the price being quoted. Even if we did, we would still need to have Conor in the team because one of Santos or Casadei should be sent out on loan. Most likely Santos.
