August 16, 20241 yr This reeks of Athletico using faux outrage to try and squeeze us on this. Not only hardballing on Felix's price but now trying to get a lower fee for Conor. f**k off. Owners have got to show some balls here otherwise they'll paint theirselves are European Footballs play toy. Wont be helped by the british media painting them as the villain when Athletico are just as much to blame.
August 16, 20241 yr Some of you need to take all this Twatterati bo**ocks with about a lorry load of salt. As if these idiots on social media have any clue what's going on!
August 21, 20241 yr It has been confirmed by the club now that Connor has been sold to Atleti. Good luck Connor!! https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/article/conor-gallagher-departs-chelsea-for-spain
August 21, 20241 yr Wasn't a huge fan of him and looking at the fees it's more or less a swap with Felix which isn't the worst. However the club is steeped in a toxic culture and the treatment of the academy players and young ones is a disgrace. These owners are killing us and the reputation of the club is officially in the gutter. I can't describe how much I detest Todd and his band of crooks.
August 21, 20241 yr I really hope he does well. Good luck Conor and thanks for your hard work and dedication to Chelsea since age 8.
August 21, 20241 yr Welcome back anytime in any capacity imo. We're going to miss him. Sorry he's been hounded out of the club by our owners who should be hounded out of the ground and stadium anytime they go near it.
August 21, 20241 yr Wish him all the best for the future. Certainly deserved a lot better than the circus that ended up being his transfer but I genuinely think this is the perfect move for him.
August 21, 20241 yr This one hurts. I can only wish him well at Atletico Madrid. Conor is a proper Chelsea lad and deserved far better treatment than he received. The only source of comfort is he isn't playing for another English club.
August 21, 20241 yr Push out by f**king 🤡🤡🤡 I hate these f**kers so much who are in charge!!! I really don’t care how many titles we win in the future with these lot I will forever HATE THEM!!! And I do mean HATE!!! No love for them ever.

He was offered - and turned down - a new contract, with that contract offering eye watering amounts of money to stay. He chose not to sign - for whatever reason - and left the club needing to sell as he only had 1 year left on his contract.
August 21, 20241 yr The point that a number of us may be missing, is that Conor does not see himself as just a solid professional, a decent squad player coming on from the bench. Conor believes that he has the makings to be one of the best English midfielders in the game and can become immeasurably successful throughout the remainder of his career. And he should absolutely have that self belief and confidence, regardless of what punters in the ground, groups of people of forums and social media content creators think or pronounce. So a Rory Jennings decrying the actions of the idiots in charge of our club because of the erosion of the culture of our club in selling a homegrown talent like Gallagher who, whilst maybe not being elite would be a strong squad member, is kind of a back handed insult to him. So the club offering him an extension on a reduced period to his peers may not have worked for him. Similarly him not accepting the offer going into a final year wouldn't have worked for the club. The actions leading up to this point by all parties would have been poor, and reasonable in equal measure. I despise what these owners are doing to our club but in this instance, at a footballing level, i think i fully understand it and am on board with it. If Conor believes that he can be a mainstay of the Ath Madrid midfield then more power to his elbow in fulfilling that dream. But by the same token if he'd sat on our bench for a year and then walked on a free to Villa or Spuds next season I'd have been even more dissatisfied with the morons in control here. Its painful, its sad, but it has happened for years and will continue to happen. At least he has bene able to review his options and define his own path, without being hoodwinked with promises and BS to find himself just a squad player in the future.

August 21, 20241 yr Wish him nothing but the best, and thank him for all he gave to Chelsea. I’m sure there is more to the story than we know, especially if rumors of turning down 3 contracts are true, which I assume was partly due to contract length relative to others at the club. The video gives a different impression of the whole saga. Good luck Conor

We are effectively paying for his move to Atletico. We dont know the contract that was offered and why it was turned down. But the fact that other senior players in the squad are all being pushed out as well is an indication how the twats upstairs are running us. Im not going to see it any other way.

Forced him out of the club he loves, treated him like a pure commodity, then pump out a video to pretend the give a sh*t. And let's get it right about that contract offer. You do not offer a one year extension to a 24 year old if you want to keep them. You offer it so that if they accept it gives you an extra year to sell them rather than avoiding losing them on a free, and if they reject it you can get your client journalists to say "see? He wanted to leave after all" in the hope of duping the support. They did it with mount and they did it again with Gallagher. Totally transparent. Edited August 21, 20241 yr by g3.7

Like everyone else I don't know what happened exactly, but Conor probably knew that a contract means f**k all. Trev signed it and he's still forced out of the club. Also, few months ago the rumors were that he didn't want a long contract, and now they're saying he didn't want a short contract, so it all sounds bogus. In any case, best of luck to Conor. Hope he does well at Madrid.
August 21, 20241 yr Once a blue, always a blue! Wasn't really a fan of him, but he always put his best, worked 200% on the pitch and he's our own academy boy! Wish him the best of luck, I believe his ability suits perfectly to Simeone. Good luck and thanks for everything Conor!
