We rested players, we have injury problems, we almost got away with it. 

We are through, that’s all that matters. Who cares who we play if you are going win it you need to beat everyone and anyone! 

support your team, support your manager and support your players.

I have no problem with Kepa coming in for Mendy. Kepa was fine overall and stopped that game from being an embarrassment, he also needs the odd game here and there seeing as he is going to be needed when Mendy goes on international duty. 

I don't think the third goal should be blamed on Tuchel either. We had a defensive midfielder on the pitch in James, he should have been in there to mop up any clearances out of the box. 

Ziyech was bought on when the game was still 2-2 and we needed a winner. It was the right call to make at the time.

It would be quite nice to finally draw Real Madrid in the CL ... that's the fixture I'd like next.

Ah yeah December, don't we just love December! Looks like Chelsea have their eye on the Christmas party.

 

Yes we have a few injuries, yes we rotated a little, but we're meant to have a squad full of depth and our replacement players are either just about adequate or bordering awful. Anyway, no harm done yet, until we draw a team like Bayern lol. 😄

Bit too much tinkering for mine, but we've got injuries and we're through anyway. Let's see what the draw serves up.

Important to regroup now and not let this become a trend. 

Well, I don't mind getting Bayern and getting kicked out. We would have bigger chances to win the league the sooner we are out of the CL, I mean we can barely scrap a starting lineup at this point 😅

You're both quite right LOL. Bad day ... :-) 

No problem with making so many changes but the formation was bonkers, even more so after getting out of jail to go 3-2 up. So many attacking players and no-one dropping back to help James in midfield. 
have to say they deserved the equaliser given the saves Kepa made.

Yeah I’m not even angry or mad. Its not realistic to expect us to win every game when we have so many players out.

We’ll be fine.

I can’t understand the need to shoehorn people into roles they generally don’t play.. we could hand easily played a back 4 with Azpi as lb.. Reece as Rb,. Saul mount barkley in modfield

Cho on the left .. pulisic on the right and lukaku as the striker

I vote Tuechel tries the starters next time.  Let's evaluate that before we call for any drastic changes.

Ziyech could be brought in into one of the three strikers in front but not into the Midfield. Reece James alone cannot mop off all the loose balls in the midfield, he needs a partner there. And Ziyech cannot offer anything defensively in the Midfield, so if you analyse it well, u will agree with me.

For Mendy, Mendy should have played instead of Kepa, simple as that.

Disagree on Mendy. He will be missing for a number of games during AFCON. This was a great opportunity to give our backup option Kepa 90 minutes without a ton of risk. While Mendy may have saved that 3rd goal, Kepa did play well overall today.

Tonight was the opportunity to try a different system using the players available. It may have had the same result, the thing we’ve learned tonight is…Saul is crap, .Sarr shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team, Barkley still flatters to deceive. CHO isn’t a WB. Lukaku hasn’t a good first touch…these are all previously known.

I would add that Lukaku got a decent run out as he attempts to regain fitness following a couple of months out. And the goal he scored won't harm his confidence.

Rot has set in over recent weeks. You can certainly explain away each bad result (or even poor performance where we won - Watford) but it’s the accumulative affect that is the problem. Injuries have certainly played their part, but it’s how you deal with it that counts. Just saying we lost because of injuries isn’t really coping with it.

Sarr needs to go on loan again. Hopefully in January.

We’re in the middle of a very challenging period. A top wingback & pivot players are crocked. It’s bad timing but guess what we have to deal with it. Imagine being Spuds now 8 or 9 players w covid. Kova been at training so you know the 🦠 is the next challenging factor that’ll come into the mix. Still Champions of Europe though !!

Exactly my issue with Kepa. He is capable of making some decent saves but is always phone to doing something that will remind you why we replaced him in the first place, that's two games in a row now.

That's the problem though, even when he plays well he's still phrone to giving us very sharp reminders as to why he was dropped in the first place.
