March 12, 20242 yr Yeah the criticism is incredibly harsh. If it wasn’t for that mistake I would say he’s had a pretty good game considering it’s his first match since November I think? He’s not the greatest left back since Ashley Cole but he’ll do as a squad player.
March 12, 20242 yr I also think Chalobah was playing out of position and Cucurella coming in after so long out was not the best introduction. I guess also he was asked not to go too far forward because of this. Good to see we won anyway.

He did play well for the majority, but the sad thing is he does have that kind of mistake in him which can often lead to a goal, or at the very least a goal scoring opportunity, we all know its coming, its just a matter of when.

Even at 100% fitness, that mistake still happens, it's who he is. It's the exact same problem David Luiz had.

With Cucurella, it's pretty hard to make a 5 minutes highlight reel of his past 18 months.
March 17, 20242 yr Great performance, glad he got his goal. Hopefully Chilwell' injury keeps him out the rest of the season and Cucurella can play for the rest of the year

But Cucurella definitely has more upside and more of a future here than Chilwell who should be on the market this summer.
March 17, 20242 yr What a Sunday, both Cucurella and Antony scored. I mean what's the odds that would happen 😅 Look forward to see what he could do in the next few games, only takes 1 or 2 critical mistakes for the fans to call him out again😎

But more in the sense that hes a good player and can have great games but always looks like there's a mistake in him somewhere. On his best days he can be sensational but will also drive you crazy at points with silly mistakes That being said, hes looked good to me lately whenever hes played, even a few months ago when he was getting forced to play at RB he definitely has put in some shifts. I can forgive the odd silly mistake here and there, but when its starts costing us the game it'll be a problem the pricetag will always be an issue, but I think in the right system and with a good manager he can be a key player for us. Certainly MUCH more reliable and better than Chilwell

Certainly MUCH more reliable and better than Chilwell I think that there is a better player in there, but he is another example where i find Poch's team's treatment just not good enough. Cucurella, like Caicedo presses hard in every challenge. Therefore attention to detail has to be put in to ensure that timing is spot on. Good timing and these guys break up the play and look excellent, a la Gusto. Poor timing and they can look clumsy, diving in, fouling, being rolled, etc. Poch's guys should be working closely with these players to develop their natural instincts because we need pressers as much as players that jockey and protect space.

For sure - its mostly a poch problem because what hes coaching is a joke. I like the squad we've built thus far and the potential is insane, just frustrating to watch someone like Poch ruin it. On our best days we can beat anyone

March 20, 20242 yr I do so enjoy a classic and carefully crafted 'I'm more educated than you' riposte. Takes me back to my days at Eton with a young @Mod. How we fell out when I got the role of Petrucio and he was just an understudy. He turned his back on Shaky that day, never to return. It was 7 long weeks before we once more shared a hot buttered crumpet.
